Judy's is such a great spot. The experience is always pleasant. It has a warm, relaxed and welcoming environment. From the minute you walk in you are greeted with a smile, until you leave you are sent off with a pleasant thank you and come again. The servers are friendly and continue to ensure you have everything that you need throughout your visit. The food is very flavorful. The portions are large without being over bearing. I'm a little delinquent in submitting this review. I met a friend here for breakfast on Saturday, 12/6. I ordered a Vegetable Omelette, and she ordered the Popeye Omelette. The food was good, and the service was even better! Thomas L was great! I do plan to return. Only one concern: The food came out lightning fast, but it wasn't hot. I didn't say anything. We went to Judy's for breakfast this morning and had great food and a great waitress. The biscuits were the best I've ever had. Light and fluffy and really tasty. We ordered the Judy's Special and the Cinnamon Toast Combo and shared with our toddler. Toddler kept on asking for more. Delicious! So glad to be supporting local business as this place blows IHOP out of the water. Loved the service and all the waiters constantly coming by to check on us and our coffee levels. Inside was very bright, clean and new. I can't believe this place was two blocks away from me all this time and I've lived here since I was a kid. We will be back. read more

So the day started at Church, great way to start the day. As we left Church, discussing food. Our thoughts led us to Judy's Cafe. This is the second best way to start you day, so if your local you already now. If you're in town visiting, plug it in the gps. Get there soon as you can, because they aren't open all day. The vibe of the place is comforting and clean. Busy but attentive to all your foodie needs. Speaking of food, great food, fresh & always delicious. Portions are great and there will be leftovers. My parents have been going here for years so we have tagged along on occasion for breakfast lunch and dinner. My kids love the place. Always have paper to color. The food is a solid A minus to A. Nothing ever bad. Breakfast is good. Same with lunch and dinner. My favorite thing is the fried chicken. Solid choice to go with. The pies are great. Especially the sugar free ones. Classic neighborhood diner with a touch of Greek to the menu. I'm a breakfast person and you can't go wrong with Judy's for breakfast. The likelihood your order is made the way you requested is very high here! portions are generous. Options are many! Service has always been solid- no snowflakes working here. People with personality who can communicate well is what I look for and Judy's has them. Ambience is that of a classic diner. Very quickly got a seat and then had THREE folks come by to ask us for our drink orders. The last was Thomas, but he was the best of the three. Our food came out very quickly and was delicious. Their menu is open and we were able to order breakfast for our lunch. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy (or wet flour covering dry flour), with an egg over hard and bacon. Very good. I will NOT hesitate to come back, again, especially if Thomas is working!!! Edit: My wife says the Buttermilk pie is better than Luby's! read more

Always a pleasure coming to Judy's! Didn't have breakfast at home and as soon as my husband suggested Judy's I jumped out of bed. Fresh cuo of coffee, delicious food and the beat service east of 75! Emily served us today, I tried the Texas Country Eggs Benedict and the eggs and biscuits were perfection. Hash browns and gravy also very tasty. My husband devoured his garden skillet and the pancake we were supposed to share barely made it to my mouth. Love it here! read more

I keep finding myself coming back to this cafe for breakfast on Saturday mornings! Seriously, this restaurant knows how to serve good and simple meals. I ordered the French toast breakfast sandwich with hash browns, which was EXCELLENT! My cousin and I came here, and our server, Stephanie, was so polite respectful courteous and just overall amazing!! She kept our coffee cups full and ensured that all our needs were met while we were having our breakfast. Service is very quick too so if you come and you have a 10 to 15 minute wait time it's not a big deal because you get served very quickly. We got our meal in maybe 7 minutes from the time we ordered. It was so hot, delicious, and fresh, which is what I loved about it. Overall, it's an amazing diner/cafe you won't be disappointed!! read more

First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh. Great food, friendly vibes, and enough Canadian charm to make ya wanna say "sorry" when someone else bumps into you. 10/10, would recommend--now pass the syrup, eh?

The walls are sparsely adorned with a few drawings, a handful of license plates, and an American flag hanging from shower curtain loops. There were snowflakes on the wall that I was not sure if they were leftover from a Christmas past, or wishful thinking on a hot July day. Oddly, they did not seem out of place... But as we all know, the soul of a place is not in its decor, but rather in its people. The people here make this place. This place defines the phrase "down-home". The patrons are all intertwined into each others conversations down to everyone in the place saying "amen" after someone quietly says grace over their meal. Then, after grace and "amen's the conversations all resume. Here, there is no typical customer, the place is filled with all backgrounds...a table of people on their way to church, another table with officers ( who were applauded when the walked in), a table of folks who had partied all night, and me, just a Yelper trying a new place, to get another review and a few more photos under my belt. Nothing binding us all together except the pleasure of each others company in a place that fosters the ability to do so. That to me is an ambiance I will take over gilded gold furnishings any time! I ordered the make your own breakfast special. What a concept, let the customer decide what they want, not what you choose to pair up together for them. It certainly worked for me this morning! Others mentioned that the fried chicken was pretty salty. My husband was able to finish off the chicken fried steak I had leftover when I brought it home, which was nice. $25-ish after tax and tip to feed two adults is pretty good in this economy.

But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

You can tell this place is legit because you see everyone in there from construction workers, people, in scrubs, law-enforcement, executives, all grabbing lunch. When that many hard-working people trust a spot, you know it's got to be good. If you're in Garland, add this place to your must try list. It is an excellent lunch spot.
