I had been wanting to try this bakery for awhile now but for one reason or another it was always closed but I finally caught them open a couple weeks ago and we were finally able to buy some goodies. Well upon entering we could see that there was not much variety on the particular day we went around 12:30 pm so I ended up getting the last Cinnamon Roll and hubby got a pastry that I can't recall the name of. My hubby felt that the gal that walked up towards the counter to help us was rude and non communicative. I'm usually the one who notices these things but something about her demeanor really set my hubby off. So we quickly paid for our order and took off. Once we got home we brewed up some coffee so we could try our treats. I have to say that I was pretty let down. There is a lot of great reviews on this page for these pastries but unfortunately neither did I or hubby experience the same. My cinnamon roll was so dense and dry and the texture of the sugar glazing on top was so off putting in my mouth. Hubby ate his pastry and shared with me that he didn't care for it either. Maybe it was because my cinnamon roll was the last one and maybe it had been sitting out all morning. I will say that the location is in a nice area of old town. We stopped by Flying Roadrunner Bakery to take a short break from sightseeing around Old Town Albuquerque and to grab something refreshing. I've been to Flying Roadrunner Bakery twice during my few work trips to ABQ. It's in a great location - old town Albuquerque - and features coffees, matcha, teas, and fresh-baked goods. No other place have I been able to try a green chile and gouda croissant. The pic I snapped didn't do it justice - buttery and flackey layers with a soft and chewy texture. Aside from the croissants and crossaint sandwiches, conchas are also a popular bread item. There's plenty of seating, outlets for laptops, murals to check out and local art for sale. Flying Roadrunner is absolutely the reason you should be hanging out in old town more. Seriously it's businesses like this that have made the area an absolute gem. On my most recent visit, I was able to try some of their more spring inspired treats, including a beautiful peach tart and their Cubano inspired croissant sandwich. Both were really amazing. I'm glad I planned on sharing them because I would have happily scarfed down both alone. They're always so friendly in the space is very warm. They have cool local art on the walls and just a lot of cute little details. I highly recommend keeping an eye out for their seasonal changes and inspired flavors. read more

Pan Au Chocolate: This was perfectly flaky, and I like how the chocolate is spread out throughout the entire pastry rather than just one log at the center. Turkey Croissant Sandwich: I'm not usually a fan of sweet and savory but the tiny bit of strawberry jam in this savory sandwich was delicious. You can ask them to warm it up so the cheese is nice and melty! Chorizo & Cheese Croissant: This was a surprising filling for a croissant but it was delicious. Cinnamon Rolls: These are not your typical soft cinnamon rolls. It has an almost caramelized bottom that's slightly crispy. They're also GIGANTIC. I had never been to Flying Roadrunner Bakery before because I rarely go to Old Town to begin with. So, it was so delightful to find this store nestled in Oldtown, just a block from the main Old town plaza. I had a chance to try their pumpkin cream croissant (seasonal one!) and an iced honey lavendor coffee...and it was so tasty! I had a scumptious breakfast being one of the very few people who stopped by right after the place opened up for the day (they open at 8am and are closed at 3pm..but they may run out of croissants earlier depending on foot traffic that day!). The croissants were crisps, peeled appropriately in layers and were airy light that I felt great as I inhaled them! Having it together with an iced honey lavender latte...I was in such a great moment enjoying their instagram-worthy interior in a quiet, calm and chilled manner. What a great way to start the day with such sense of calmness and tasty treats! I also got 3 additional croissants/cruffin (chai cream croissant, nutella cruffin and turkey crossant sandwich) to go! I meant...who could ignore when my eyes lit up and were bigger than my stomach that I wanted to try so many things from Flying Roadrunner! Thank you for such a wonderful experience and an introduction to this wonderful shop in Old Town. I had no idea this place opened up 2.5 years ago..and was plesantly surprised how easy it was to find parking around the area early in the morning. I would definitely think of returning/taking visitors there in the morning to beat the crowd and get these tasty homemade treats again! (the owner told me they wake up to bake everything fresh..at 3am everyday!). So you out there..please don't complain about this shop..when they were working their butts off while we all enjoy our early morning sleeping in bed! Holy cannoli! Okay, personally I only give 5 stars if a place leaves me craving it again. Let me tell you, Flying Roadrunner is crave-worthy! I HAD to ask where the chefs went to school to learn how to make these delectable treats and guess what they said?! They are self taught! What?! Do you know how challenging it is to make flakey crispy croissants on the outside that are light and buttery on the inside?! These little pastries are treasures! You're probably thinking "This is such a dramatic review" but I HAVE to emphasize that these little pastries bring joy with every bite. I couldn't decide if I wanted sweet or savory so obviously I got both. The Turkey croissant sandwich with havarti jam, baby greens, and garlic butter was fantastic! Chef's kiss! Service was good overall. I was a bit thrown off as I got my items to go style. I had clearly sat down to do some work and was given a to go cup for my latte and a to go bag for my croissant. It took away from the experience I was looking for to sit down with a cup of coffee. It felt rushed, if anything. Having said that, their pastries are extremely worth stopping in for. I am certainly a fan of Flying Roadrunner Bakery. They service is always friendly and promptly as you walk in the door you are greeted. You will find it nestled in the nook of the small plaza with the fountain in Old Town. It is worth the trek to find if you haven't ventured over yet. The pastries are a treat for the eyes. I would be surprised if the sight of them alone didn't persuade you to have one...or two. You can absolutely share one, if you are feeling up to it. The croissants are delicious, I am a fan of the sandwich with turkey, havarti cheese and jam, it hits every time. The nutella and strawberry croissant is so good, but messy, beware. The key lime croissant was also a must try. I haven't had the change to the cinnamon roll yet, it is on my list of things to do. What a cute little spot in the heart of Old Town Alburquerque! In desperate need of caffeine before jumping onto the bus for the Breaking Bad Tour, I quickly popped into Flying Roadrunner and immediately fell in love! To start, the space is beyond adorable. It's farmhouse chic meets cozy local joint and adorned with local cute artwork, local goodies and friendly faces. The mural wall is cutesy and is the perfect backdrop for photos and the case up front is filled with house made delicious items - including fresh croissants, pastries, cakes and more - sure to make anyone hungry! I made my way to the counter, requested an iced coffee with a splash of cream and within minutes it was ready to enjoy. First let me start with the croissants. They are extraordinary! I came for a coffee but left raving about the croissants. There are big and flakey, with so many layers of happiness. We had the green chili, turkey sandwich, almond, and chocolate croissants. All 4 were amazing. I was sad we didn't get extras for the next day lol. Truly great baking! The coffee was good as well. This is a average size type of bakery in old town. Parking can be difficult so plan accordingly and plan to walk if you can't find a lose parking spot. The bakery is quite rustic type of style with modern style. It depicts homy vibes. At around 1130 they already out of their pastries and bread. Or can be quite disappointing if you had planned to get various different Pastries. Per owner they sell quite fast and thus the early bird gets the worm. There is plenty of room to sit and enjoy a nice cup of coffee. They also have a little area in which they sell crotchet items. We ended getting a matcha drink and cup of coffee. The owner is a very pleasant young lady that is willing to help you and offer suggestions. All in all is a place to try when you are on old town. read more
