I asked them to leave them out but they forgot. Not enough dressing. Just blah. Can you come up with something tastier? Maybe put some roasted beets and sweet potatoes in for body. The food isn't what it used to be,I ordered a BLT and there were three thin fatty, slimy pieces of bacon on a huge sub roll it was mostly wilted lettuce and two very thin slices of tomato. The dining room was disgusting,food,straw wrappers and napkins on the floor that no one picked up the entire time we were there, the tables were sticky and dirty I had to wipe off dead flies from the table and dropped my glasses while doing it,I'm sorry I went under the table to get them dead roaches and lots of dead flies and food, it's extremely obvious they don't clean daily because there were cobwebs full of dead bugs in the corners on the side of the booth, there were fly traps above eating areas. Super disappointed- I ordered the chicken risotto for take away not only did it not look anything like the description, it was not edible. The few pieces of chicken that I got had bouncy/touch ends on them. The asparagus looked and tasted like they accidentally put the scrap ends into the dish- too tough to chew with a few burnt different cut off tops. The risotto was fine besides the part that is was submerged in a clear liquid and grainy peas. The best part of the meal was the white bread roll that I requested for free. I wanted to enjoy my visit because the food was great and I had no complaints about the meal itself. Unfortunately, what made this a one-star experience was watching how the manager treated the employees. Throughout my visit, I could hear him speaking to staff in a disrespectful and demeaning way, which made for a very uncomfortable dining experience. I asked one of the employees serving my table about it, and he said the manager's name was Scott and that this behavior was normal. No employee deserves to be treated that way. Good food is important, but so is creating a respectful environment for both employees and customers. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the issue. Not sure what has happened to this place. We live in walking distance and have been loyal customers for years. 45 min wait for food and it came out cold. Excuse was that they had people call out. I could see my order sitting up there for more than 5 minutes, and then had difficulty cutting into the hardened tortilla. 2.5 stars. I have been here MANY times over the years. It's always been decent. Was just here a month or so ago and it's gone downhill. It seems the quality of people working here has taken a big dip. The cashier was a smart arse and didn't really seem to know what he was doing, the service was quite slow compared to the past, the young gal cleaning up the dishes was wandering around aimlessly in slow motion. This place is a dream come true for desserts. I had the chicken Cajun sandwich, it has some greens on it with a special delicate dressing that was unique. I have been eating at flying star for my whole life and I've had issues with them over the years- constantly taking off my favorite dishes. but now there is one remaining dish that I really like which is their chicken couscous, which I really appreciate cause it's got the nice chicken, the couscous and the broccoli. today however, I ordered delivery and got the weirdest meal ever where it has the chicken and the couscous but instead gave me a heaping pile of mushrooms and spinach in it and decrease the amount of couscous leaving me with barely a meal and feeling very hungry after. this is the most disappointing meal I've gotten from flying star in a long time. disappointing that they managed to ruin the one meal that I actually still enjoy going back there for read more

I really like the Flying Star Cafe. Over the years they have removed 2 really great gluten free products. One was the pumpkin scone which had candied ginger and five spice powder. This place is a good place to meet up with friends and be on own without the worries of getting kicked out. You can just stop by, order as you enter, grab your drinks...and find your own spots to sit. Noone will ever come and harass you to leave at all. I met up with a friend for coffee and we were able to grab an outdoor seating on a nice weekend afternoon. I like that they have a large space to sit and you can choose to be indoor or outdoors. Bonus that you can actually eat as little or fill your empty stomach depending on how hungry you feel, too. The only drawback was just...even though the place is in a strip mall parking space, even in the afternoon, I almost couldn't find a spot to park. Luckily, I found someone who left right when I was looking for a place for my car. Woof. I'll start with the food. I got the Verano Salad that sounded super refreshing: a summer salad with fried chicken strips in a mix of salad greens, jicama, roasted corn, black beans, avocado, and tortilla strips with a chipotle ranch dressing. But man, when I saw those chicken strips, they were just absolutely annihilated by the fryer. They were charred nearly black with the crispiest of coatings that could cut up the roof of your mouth. Which means...the chicken was dry as the Sahara. Not great. Service leaves something to be desired for. Not only did we see a few people there for pick-up orders having their orders mixed up, we had a few servers come up to our table to drop off the wrong drink, the wrong dish, and a To-Go order we never placed. It's a pretty crowded place and the desserts do look nice, so maybe it'll be better if we decide to come back. read more
