When I visited for breakfast, this place was about 5% nicer than exactly what I hoped for in a standard chain breakfast diner. The staff was excellent and all the expected menu items were present. I got an ultimate skillet to go. When I got home most of it was burnt and there were no mushrooms. In addition the eggs were way over cooked. I ended up throwing the food out as it was not edible. This place did not disappoint. Our serve Edna was SUPER BUSY. After we got there, 4-5 more parties all came in and it was just her and one other girl. She still did her best to serve us and keep an eye on drink refills etc. I ordered the turkey dinner and my mom ordered the turkey club. We were both very pleased with our meal. My turkey plate was room temp but that didn't stop me from inhaling the whole meal lol. It was so good I didn't even care. My mom's turkey sammie was also very tasty and she was pleasantly surprised and how much turkey she got in her sammie. We order the key lime pie for dessert and it was good for a diner pie. We went again a few days later for brekkie and were again happy with our meals! I ordered the chorizo skillet and was excited to see you get so much chorizo with your meal. I haven't been to a Village Inn in a very long time but it was close to the airport so I gave it a try and I was pleasantly surprised by how great everything was. The portions were large and the food tastes very good. I've been on CFS adventure now for a couple of months, seeking out the best I can find and although this one wasn't as thick and juicy it was still good size and a great deal at only $12 which includes 3 pancakes! I had a 20% off coupon so I thought we'd come here instead of Denny's (where we usually go). The employee seemed to have been late and rushing in the door when we arrived. Two of us ordered the fish and chips, one ordered a Cobb salad. a Breakfast plate and a club sandwich. There was NO lettuce so the Cobb salad couldn't be made. Though there was lettuce that came in the club sandwich. ??? Breakfast was okay. Fish and chips were small but alright. More like nuggets... The tartar sauce was not very good. I wished we had just stuck with Denny's. Sorry Village Inn even with the 20% off we won't be back. I have recently learned that a few other locations in Albuquerque have closed. I was in ABQ staying at the Sheraton just up the street from Village Inn. Was a 6 night stay, but for 3 mornings I went to this Village Inn for breakfast and I was not disappointed! Each time a manager would meet me at the door, greet me and seat me. Each waitress I had were over the top hospitable and so kind. The coffee was fresh. The food was delicious. What a fantastic breakfast! This is not the dated dingy Village Inn I remember from my youth. They have definitely gotten a bright, contemporary facelift! I also don't ever remember the food being this good and having healthy options is such a plus! I had the egg white mediterranean omelette w/artichokes, spinach, feta, tomato and topped w/avocado. It came w/a side of low fat vanilla yogurt w/granola and honey and three multi-grain pancakes that were out of this world (and I am not a pancake fan)! I added strawberries & bananas, which were served super fresh. Our waitress, Shannon, was very nice and attentive. My only complaint would be the coffee was a little weak and watered down, but you do get your own coffee carafe at the table, which is nice so you don't have to hunt down your waitress every time you need a refill.
