Was looking for a locally owned place for food and beverages after a wonderful round of golf at…read moreWashington County so asked the pro shop staff for their recommendations. Luckily for us they recommended Bilda's Friess Lake Pub. What an awesome place. Small, friendly, with a large selection of beers to choose from, and our food was outstanding. Were immediately told by other customers (obviously regulars) that we had to have the smoked wings. Great call. They were perfect. Very casual place. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. Have a great outside area also where they have bands and comfortably host large groups (a large group of local teachers were there celebrating the last day of school). Highly recommend

Service: There was an issue with our order. Apparently, it did not "print" back in the kitchen. We ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before someone figured out what had happened. They acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and comped our drinks. Atmosphere: They now have outdoor entertainment every evening, and there is plenty of seating to choose from. The traffic around the roundabout intersection can get noisy, but I think they simply turn up the volume to compensate. A good spot for smoked meats and other sandwiches.

Second time here in the last couple of months…read more Food: As much as I love the history of this place, the beautiful woods surrounding it, and the charm of the building, I have been very disappointed by the quality of the food. Unfortunately, this second dinner was even worse than the first. The rice was undercooked, the short ribs were dry, and the scallops were gritty. I realize that, for some people, the Buy One, Get One promotion is a big draw. However, I suspect that the menu prices are inflated to offset the BOGO savings, so it doesn't end up being much of an actual benefit. My wish is that they would focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food and charge prices that appropriately cover their costs while still allowing them to make a profit. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon, which is sad because there is so much to like about the location and atmosphere.

We had a group of 12, and we're sure to make a reservation, because boy was is busy on a Friday night! Especially around the holidays, because the holiday decor just adds an extra special feel to this already rustic, unique restaurant. The staff let us know they'd put us in a quieter area, due to my grandma, but unfortunately that didn't end up happening. I'll say though, we arrived to a packed restaurant at 5:45pm and by 8pm the place was pretty cleared out! Seems most popular for a happy hour and early super-type crowd. I'd been here once before but this was my first time dining in for food, so I was excited to try out their menu. They offer a hell of a deal for buy-one-get-one entrees! Note their entrees are upwards of $30-50 on average, so if you take this deal you're saving a pretty penny. Here you'll find all of the meat and seafood options to try. In the end I landed on the shrimp & scallop stir fry and boy was it good. Scallops were cooked just right and the flavor was on point. I also had to of course try my husband's steak and it was fantastic. Also fantastic was our server, Shaun. He took wonderful care of our table, and even gave us a great rundown of the entire dessert tray. He knew his stuff! We ended up ordering a handful of sweet treats to end the evening. All in all, this place should be on everyone's list to try!

Our server, Melissa, was a star (though I did notice the entire darn team hustles non stop--kudos to all). We started with the Jalapeño Popper Stuffed Mushrooms. Sooo good! Burgers are always awesome at the other locations so we had to get at least one here -- it was delicious. The other sandwich we ordered was a special called, The Bistro. It was fantastic. Prime Rib, thinly sliced, mozzarella, crispy onion ring/shreds with a chipotle mayo and au jus. Kiss the chef. I don't know how often it's on the menu but it should have a permanent place. Note: they do have a Prime Rib sammy on the menu all of the time so I'm sure it can be made any day but I would not have thought to put it together. Great stop. Great service. Great food.

The staff was very nice. The ambiance of the place is of a nice and newly remodeled restaurant. Very busy place and good to see they are doing well. The bowling alley looks very modern and would be fun to try at a later date. I want to see the pickleball outside in the summer. We had two bourbon old fashioned drinks. They were ok but I couldn't tell you it was an alcoholic drink. LOL There should be no 3% credit card charge. Society is going cashless. This is a money grab. Raise the prices by 2% for every one of you need to cover more expenses. The credit card charge is a cost of doing business. You don't go to the department store and have a credit card fee.

Food: We ordered the Gyro Wrap, Bacon Cheeseburger, and a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The cheeseburger was very good, although the bacon was a bit dry and overcooked. The sweet potato fries were also good, arriving hot and flavorful. The Gyro Wrap was a bit disappointing. The meat looked like thin slices that had been thawed out and overcooked. On the positive side, the prices were very reasonable. Service: The bartender was very friendly, greeting us as we entered and getting us settled at the bar. She was also the cook and was doing her best to keep drinks filled while preparing food orders. The place became busier after we arrived, and one of the regulars actually jumped behind the bar to act as "Johnny-on-the-spot." How's that for customer loyalty? Apparently, everyone there comes to drink. I ordered a tonic with lime, and the bartender must have heard "tonic" and assumed I wanted a gin and tonic. This happened twice in a row. It was more amusing than upsetting. Atmosphere: The place is a typical small lake bar and grill. The décor is rustic and unpretentious. Regulars are greeted by their first names, and strangers seem to have no hesitation about getting to know their barmates. There is a nice view of the lake just across the road. Unfortunately, when you're sitting at the bar, that view is behind you. I'd like to stop back and try the Prime Rib Sandwich, which came highly recommended by the bartender.

It wasn't until recently when they started to actively promote themselves on social media that I thought of them before others as a place to try. I called in an order of fried haddock with potato pancakes and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I also ordered an extra piece of haddock. The food was ok. The the mozzarella sticks looked homemade but the potato pancakes did not. It weirded me out that the haddock was in little pieces instead of traditional sized pieces. The breading didn't have much flavor, which was a shame given how much fish there was. When I asked for the extra piece of fish, I was told by the person that answered the phone that they didn't know the cost as they were just helping out that night. I (unfortunately) didn't press for an answer because extra pieces at other restaurants are typically close to $3 and I was ok with something in that ballpark. To my utter shock, the bill showed the extra piece (or pieces) was an outrageous $9. Never in my wildest dreams would I pay $9 for an extra piece of fish, especially when the haddock dinner itself was only $11. I should have refused the extra piece when I found out or just left without any of the food, but sadly I didn't. It also would have been nice had they waited to make the extra piece(s) until I got there and could inform me that it was $9. I absolutely would have said no thanks at that point. Note, EJ's is cash only. They do have an ATM, but I don't know what the fees are for using it.
