Visited Friday night at 530 for dinner. I am in town visiting my friend and I'm from Arizona. The reviews for the potato crusted fish were great, so I was looking forward to trying fish fry for the first time. I understand that this is a hole in the wall type of establishment, but I think it's so weird that you sit at the table to look at the menu, and then go up to the counter to order. Then you get your drinks and you go sit back down. It's a pretty small place, there's only about a dozen tables total So it fills up very quickly! It wasn't too busy when we arrived. We sat down and decided what we wanted, and then my friend and I went up to the counter to order. There were three of us total. We waited over an hour before my friend's boyfriend finally got up to go check on the status of our food. There were four tables around us that came to the restaurant after we got there, and all got their food before us. He came back and said that the waiter told him that the food should be out any minute. Then the guy who was at the counter who took our order, came over to the table a couple minutes later and said "that was my bad guys, I forgot to hit fire, it'll be about 20 minutes", meaning he forgot to send the order to the kitchen. We waited over an hour before he finally came and told us that. Our food came out about 25 minutes later, and then we left shortly after we finished eating. My friend and her boyfriend said the salmon was OK, but it wasn't great. I really enjoyed my fish fry, especially the potato crusted one. I also tried the potato cakes and they were mediocre and not hot. Overall, super disappointed with this entire visit. They didn't come out and apologize, they didn't offer anything, and it was just a really terrible experience overall having to wait that long. Period.

Yes, this is a pub. It is noisy, small and the tvs are on loud. And the food is really good! Five of us stopped in for the first time on a Sunday evening. You order at the counter and pay there when you are done. We had a rueben, hamburger, french dip, brisket and a kid's mini hotdogs. Everything was eaten except for 1/2 the reuben which came home with us. Don't expect much in atmosphere but the food is absolutely worth the visit. There is plenty of parking, although I imagine this place is packed on a Friday or Saturday night. They do have pagers for those who need to wait for a table.

    Rueben, brisket and chicken wings.

Came by for dinner. Ambiance is what you get at a bar, service was pleasant and the food was wonderful. The chicken wings were the highlight, their corn bread was a great compliment and the brisket was smoked just right. Certainly a repeat type of establishment for bbq lovers.

Kielbasa patty sandwich, which was good but skimpy on the fries.

Fun vibe, average food. Not super clean, but you can tell they have improved a bit. The outdoor patio and music was a plus.

Do they offer all you can eat crab legs?

Not that I am aware of. Try the Copper Dock, I believe that is the Wednesday special.

Bob and Vicky don't own it anymore?

    Yes they still own it.

I got the Manhattan off their specialty menu and my husband got their autumn barrel Manhattan. After trying both--highly recommend the one off their specialty menu. It was definitely superior quality. It's served over a block of ice so if you want it up, you may want to mention that when ordering. It tasted more like a classic old fashioned than a Manhattan but I'm not complaining because I love classic bourbon old fashioned cocktails as well. For a starter we got their much raved about bang bang shrimp. It came on a bed of greens and was good! For my dinner I got their seasonal chicken and dumpling soup and a side salad. Both were solid. The salad was definitely more ample than I was expecting. My husband got some sort of salmon alfredo pasta dish that came with roasted asparagus mixed in. I had a bite and he ordered well--it was decadently buttery and delicious. The service was super kind throughout our stay. Our server checked in on us regularly without being overbearing. Get to it!

Food: We ordered the Gyro Wrap, Bacon Cheeseburger, and a side of Sweet Potato Fries. The cheeseburger was very good, although the bacon was a bit dry and overcooked. The sweet potato fries were also good, arriving hot and flavorful. The Gyro Wrap was a bit disappointing. The meat looked like thin slices that had been thawed out and overcooked. On the positive side, the prices were very reasonable. Service: The bartender was very friendly, greeting us as we entered and getting us settled at the bar. She was also the cook and was doing her best to keep drinks filled while preparing food orders. The place became busier after we arrived, and one of the regulars actually jumped behind the bar to act as "Johnny-on-the-spot." How's that for customer loyalty? Apparently, everyone there comes to drink. I ordered a tonic with lime, and the bartender must have heard "tonic" and assumed I wanted a gin and tonic. This happened twice in a row. It was more amusing than upsetting. Atmosphere: The place is a typical small lake bar and grill. The décor is rustic and unpretentious. Regulars are greeted by their first names, and strangers seem to have no hesitation about getting to know their barmates. There is a nice view of the lake just across the road. Unfortunately, when you're sitting at the bar, that view is behind you. I'd like to stop back and try the Prime Rib Sandwich, which came highly recommended by the bartender.

It wasn't until recently when they started to actively promote themselves on social media that I thought of them before others as a place to try. I called in an order of fried haddock with potato pancakes and mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. I also ordered an extra piece of haddock. The food was ok. The the mozzarella sticks looked homemade but the potato pancakes did not. It weirded me out that the haddock was in little pieces instead of traditional sized pieces. The breading didn't have much flavor, which was a shame given how much fish there was. When I asked for the extra piece of fish, I was told by the person that answered the phone that they didn't know the cost as they were just helping out that night. I (unfortunately) didn't press for an answer because extra pieces at other restaurants are typically close to $3 and I was ok with something in that ballpark. To my utter shock, the bill showed the extra piece (or pieces) was an outrageous $9. Never in my wildest dreams would I pay $9 for an extra piece of fish, especially when the haddock dinner itself was only $11. I should have refused the extra piece when I found out or just left without any of the food, but sadly I didn't. It also would have been nice had they waited to make the extra piece(s) until I got there and could inform me that it was $9. I absolutely would have said no thanks at that point. Note, EJ's is cash only. They do have an ATM, but I don't know what the fees are for using it.

Unfortunately, this second dinner was even worse than the first. The rice was undercooked, the short ribs were dry, and the scallops were gritty. I realize that, for some people, the Buy One, Get One promotion is a big draw. However, I suspect that the menu prices are inflated to offset the BOGO savings, so it doesn't end up being much of an actual benefit. My wish is that they would focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food and charge prices that appropriately cover their costs while still allowing them to make a profit. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon, which is sad because there is so much to like about the location and atmosphere.
