Was looking for a locally owned place for food and beverages after a wonderful round of golf at Washington County so asked the pro shop staff for their recommendations. Luckily for us they recommended Bilda's Friess Lake Pub. What an awesome place. Small, friendly, with a large selection of beers to choose from, and our food was outstanding. Were immediately told by other customers (obviously regulars) that we had to have the smoked wings. Great call. They were perfect. Very casual place. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. Stopped in for another meal. Food: The food was excellent. They have eleven different sliders, so we ordered four different ones, along with a side of the haystack onion rings. Service: There was an issue with our order. Apparently, it did not "print" back in the kitchen. We ended up waiting an additional 20 minutes before someone figured out what had happened. They acknowledged the mistake, apologized, and comped our drinks. Atmosphere: They now have outdoor entertainment every evening, and there is plenty of seating to choose from. Visited Friday night at 530 for dinner. I am in town visiting my friend and I'm from Arizona. The reviews for the potato crusted fish were great, so I was looking forward to trying fish fry for the first time. I understand that this is a hole in the wall type of establishment, but I think it's so weird that you sit at the table to look at the menu, and then go up to the counter to order. Then you get your drinks and you go sit back down. It's a pretty small place, there's only about a dozen tables total So it fills up very quickly! It wasn't too busy when we arrived. We sat down and decided what we wanted, and then my friend and I went up to the counter to order. There were three of us total. We waited over an hour before my friend's boyfriend finally got up to go check on the status of our food. There were four tables around us that came to the restaurant after we got there, and all got their food before us. He came back and said that the waiter told him that the food should be out any minute. Then the guy who was at the counter who took our order, came over to the table a couple minutes later and said "that was my bad guys, I forgot to hit fire, it'll be about 20 minutes", meaning he forgot to send the order to the kitchen. We waited over an hour before he finally came and told us that. Our food came out about 25 minutes later, and then we left shortly after we finished eating. My friend and her boyfriend said the salmon was OK, but it wasn't great. I really enjoyed my fish fry, especially the potato crusted one. I also tried the potato cakes and they were mediocre and not hot. Overall, super disappointed with this entire visit. They didn't come out and apologize, they didn't offer anything, and it was just a really terrible experience overall having to wait that long. Period. read more

The reviews seem to be mixed but I really like this place. It is so cozy and fun! I love that the salt and pepper shakers are all mismatched (the table I sat at had flip flop ones). You order at the counter and they bring you your food. This time around, I tried their chicken tenders with sour cream + chive fries. The chicken was super juicy and good quality. Plate presentation was nothing special, and the prices are on the upper end of the teens, which for a small sandwich without sides, is pricey. Given the ambiance and quality of food - not worth it. Also, you need to add 2.50 for every side you want to add to your sandwich. You can end up with an expensive mid plate. This place is located in the middle of nowhere, but in close proximity to the Holly Hill Basilica who has hundreds of thousands of visitors from many different cultures. Why does this matter? Yes, this is a pub. It is noisy, small and the tvs are on loud. And the food is really good! Five of us stopped in for the first time on a Sunday evening. You order at the counter and pay there when you are done. We had a rueben, hamburger, french dip, brisket and a kid's mini hotdogs. Everything was eaten except for 1/2 the reuben which came home with us. Don't expect much in atmosphere but the food is absolutely worth the visit. There is plenty of parking, although I imagine this place is packed on a Friday or Saturday night. They do have pagers for those who need to wait for a table. read more

Amazing fish fry! We always order the 1/2 beer battered cod 1/2 potato crusted. Very tender and well battered. We also love their smoked wings which you can see and smell cooking as you walk in the parking lot. Great beer selection of a variety of high quality beers. We held a birthday party for my father-in-law (90 yrs young) at Bildas and the day couldn't have come off better. The staff was amazingly helpful all day and provided whatever we asked for. This place has quickly become our favorite spot in town. Their drink options are head and shoulders above any bar around, and most larger bars in the city too. They have a constantly rotating beer list from breweries all over the world and frequently have beer themed events and dinners with different breweries. They also have a full bar with more than your average selection and they also have actual wine that is not just Sutter Home. Staff is friendly and efficient - they also have food but you usually have to order at the bar. They have a good fish fry with amazing potato pancakes. Came here for dinner and split the Reuben and 3 Bs burger with my son; burger was phenomenal, when you have three kinds of meat on a burger it's rare all are cooked well, and the ratios of meat to other toppings and bun typically get skewed but they nailed it with this one. Reuben was also very good, no complaints, not in the top tier of Reuben's like some of other places I've reviewed but if you're in the mood for a Reuben, you will be satisfied. Stopped in for a beer on a Sunday when we were out on the motorcycle. The decor is something to really take in. Just about ever inch has something on it, and a lot of them made me laugh. We sat at the bar and waited a few minutes to order a beer. The bartender was nice and regularly checked on us. The beer on tap was a nice variety with something for anyone. The service was good and both guys working were friendly. We tried several different things and they were all very good. The shrimp was delicious. Stopped in for an original Wisconsin fish fry and w were not disappointed. You review the menu, go to an ordering station, go to the bar and order drinks, then find a table and wait for the magic to arrive. It did not take long. We could have had free nacho chips and salsa, but we choose to wait for the all you can eat fish for me and fish sandwich for my wife. Four pieces of fish with fries and coleslaw for me, two pieces on a great buttered bun for the Sandwich were delivered lickity split and we ate it all. I could not eat any more although they would have brought more fish if I wanted. more, and the $13.99 price was reasonable. I enjoy visiting this pure Wisconsin bar. They have a great beer selection and a very comfortable atmosphere. No frills or fuss with the food. Everything is decent, but a little pricier then most local dives. Live music regularly and pull tabs add to the entertainment value. Our visit to Bilda's was on 10 February, during their all you can eat crab legs special. Bilda's is cozy restaurant restaurant on the corners of 164 and 167, making this an easily accessible establishment from I-41 or traveling on 164. The dining area is a little tight, but this evening it was pretty quiet as the recent snow and ice kept some of the would be diners at home, at least while we where there. My wife ordered the fried chicken and fries as her side. The chicken was nicely done and the crust was crunchy, yet not over done. The crab legs were all you can eat, and were listed at market price. This could mean anything, as several grocery stores had them listed at $17 to $22 per pound, so $44 that I was charged could be the standard price as I had two orders, so the price adds up. The crab was really good, and I forgot how well they are paired with lemon and drawn butter on the side. The order was a little pricey, but well worth it, just ask what the going rate is if you do not want sticker shock when the bill is presented. Bilda's was recommended to us as a good lunch stop in the Holy Hill area, and indeed it is. You'll get an interesting mix of locals, golfers, bikers and just about anyone and everyone else. The place kind of looks like a dump from the outside, but the inside is "nicer townie bar". There's a pretty impressive draft list and growlers are available. They've got a sense of humor too - there are goofy salt/pepper shakers on the tables and cans of "crappy" beer for $2.50. Mugs hang from every available ceiling and wall space. The rest of the decor is.....interesting. I mean, it's your business and your choice, but a bumper sticker that reads "I'd rather shower at Penn State than vote for Hilary" is just gross. Child abuse isn't funny - period. Anyway, the potions here are huge! The Misters chicken sandwich looked to be about 1/2 chickens worth of meat. Their mozzarella sticks are the size of a child's arm. My burger was pretty good too. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the sizes. Overall, a good stop if you are in the area, or really enjoy Fox News. read more

We have been to this place at least six times before and had the brisket sandwich and it was great. Today we had it and it looked like pulled pork. They insisted that it was brisket I still have my doubts. As in the past it has always been sliced brisket on the sandwich. Then to top it off, the bar had no one at it.
