I have been to two other chiropractors before this one and they were good. My experience with chiropractors is to be straight with them and tell them to be gentle. On to Focused On You, I gave them a shot because of the good reviews. I've had regular spasms since 2000 but these increased to one a month since 2009. Back in February 2014 I really hurt something and could barely walk for a few days. After 3 weeks of this major spasm or injury I went to a regular MD. He took an X-ray and said an area of my lower back was a little compressed and gave me an exercise guide. I did the exercises for about a month and felt a little better but then stopped because I was pretty much used to back discomfort. Now in April 2015 I was still throwing my back about every month. I started fearing the idea of surgery, and this was just my own thinking. So I looked up a chiropractor with good reviews. And since I knew what was basically wrong and knew I perhaps needed a type of 'rehab' I agreed to the entire program at Focused OY. Yes, they do used a set of products called maximized living and they'll work as intended when used right. Yes, they'll ask you to go through some orientation where they'll offer treatment packages but this is no different than paying for physical therapy copays, pain medicines, follow up visits, etc; again this is my opinion. Yes, the adjustments may seem like nothing but that is part of the design of the practice. Years of back problems can't be fixed with a few hard adjustments, so theirs are gradual and gentle compared to the typical hard cracking. So after I did the 5 month program, I am pain free and my spine has like 95% of all its mobility restored. The other 5% should come around if I continue the at home stretches and exercises. My low back was so tight, and my left hip area had some deep knots that I thought would never go away. As you are doing the program you may not be pain free because your body is slowing being put in the right posture. Many days I was sore going through this but I could feel every thing loosening up. The deep knots in my left hip are gone, an injury I did to myself while I'm a shoulder press machine back in 2012 would always flare up when I'd use that shoulder to carry like a bag of groceries for a half block now doesn't flare up. My posture has nicely improved and my short term memory has noticeably improved also. Yes, they offered a plan to continue regular adjustments but I told them I could not afford it because I'd used up my chiropractor visits on my insurance (I'll probably resume regular visits next year)and they did not pressure me or anything. Also, I've was never told to give up conventional medicine either. Lastly, I got my wife to sign up and do a 5 month plan, my wife had a terrible experience with a different chiropractor but she saw my improvement and gave these guys a shot, she used to take 2 advils a day 2-3 times a week and now no longer takes this. They have a passionate nutritional expert which is a big help also, and this counseling was included in the treatment plan I got. I hope this review helps someone. read more

Why can I hear my heartbeat in my ear? I started seeing Dr. Gerard years ago but returned in 2013 after being diagnosed with Pulsatile Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) in my right ear. My right ear would "whoosh" to the beat of my heart. It affected my daily activity as well as my ability to sleep. I was left with little hope from the medical community. The M.D. that I had seen basically said I would have to live with it for my entire life. It was my husband who had recently seen Dr. Gerard to get relief from his back pain who reminded me that all sorts of miracles have happened in Dr. Gerard's office. So I headed over there... When I described my symptoms to Dr. Gerard, he assured me that he had seen that before and actually predicted what he might see in my x-rays and thermal scans and that it was easily corrected. Sure enough we saw exactly what he predicted. At that point I was very hopeful that simply aligning my upper cervical vertebrae would allow my body to heal itself of the tinnitus. I began treatment and within 2 months I had about 80% relief! After 3 months I had 90% relief in my right ear and 100% relief in my left ear. It would come and go based on my neck alignment. If I experience the "whooshing" it simply means my neck has gone out of alignment and I just head back to Dr. Gerard and get lined up again... Dr. Gerard is full of very helpful information about health and healing and I appreciate all that he is teaching me. The whole office experience is about empowering me to have the best health possible. I'm also glad that I'm no longer fearful of going to the chiropractor and getting twisted and cracked. He has a very gentle and scientific technique that targets the exact places that need alignment. He does x-rays before treatment so he knows exactly what is needed. It's not a one size fits all treatment like most chiropractors that I've experienced in the past. Very seldom do I write a positive review, in fact, most of the time my reviews are negative, I think that's because as a consumer I'd rather read the brutal honest, and negative truth. It's not that I'm a pessimist I just prefer facts. Here are the facts: Dr. Gerard Liboiron is the best chiropractor I'v seen hands down! I've seen a chiropractor most of my adult life out of necessity to treat life-long chronic pain. I was born with a mild case of Spina Bifida so my L4 and L5 didn't properly fuse. Proper alignment is paramount to managing that pain. In addition, I moved to Texas almost 8 years ago and in those 8 years, I've been in 5 car accidents, none of them my fault. Each occurrence added stress to my bones and alignment. Each time I had to go through months of extensive therapy to regain alignment. Dr. G was able to do that in half the time. I've seen countless chiropractors, who've used numerous approaches to treating my pain. One even tried an alternative type of treatment, 'NUCA" that was quote "Guaranteed to cure me" but nothing worked. So for years, I dealt with chronic pain and misalignment despite treatment. For almost two years after one terrible accident, I had a misaligned sternum that caused severe pain throughout my body including migraine headaches. The attention to detail and quality of service from the staff, and doctors, of Focused On You Chiropractic is better than any other office you will find in the Austin area. I came to FOYC with shoulder pain and immobility. I suffered from extreme knee pain due to training for endurance events. I can never thank them enough for the help they have given me and continue to give me. The doctors will take you through some processes to become a new patient. They seem a little overwhelming at first, but it is how they get their results. Both doctors here are trained in upper cervical care that you can only get in 3 other places in Texas. They adjust the full spine. They take the time to measure everything before adjusting you, and the adjustments are painless. No CRACKING OR POPING HERE. It is truly amazing. I started seeing Dr. Gerard about a year ago. I have struggled with headaches for really as long as I can remember, but they really came to a head last year during my pregnancy. Since I couldn't take any pain meds with the pregnancy I knew it was time to explore some other routes. I was on the hunt for a chiropractor that not only did adjustments but took a more holistic approach. I found FOYC and I am so, so thankful that I did; my headaches have practically disappeared. If I do have a headache resurface, coming in for another adjustment immediately does the trick. There are so many things that I love about FOYC, but here are some that top the list: - Everyone on staff really cares about seeing you back to health - The group workouts that they offer 2x/week. I thought I was done with Chiropractors. I'd been to 2 others and they only made matters worse. A trusted friend begged me to give it one more go of it, so I did. My neck and lower back were KILLING me to the point that I couldn't even play Pickleball (now that's pretty bad!) The first visit was a thorough examination complete with x-rays, a cool energy reader thingy that could detect where the heat and pain were on my spine, a test to see how misaligned my body was (standing crooked) and my first visit to the awesome rolling vibrating bed. The 2nd visit was completely different in that Dr. G (Gerard Liboiron) requires his patients to come to a very informative meeting with their spouse/significant other. He educates us on many spine related lessons. We learned so much! After that, he shows us the results of all of the tests and tells us his recommendation going forward. After 12 adjustments, we get retested to see the incredible results. I am a huge believer in the way Dr. G works with his patients. For the most part, I am now pain free. The office staff are so efficient. They've got this office visit experience down to a science. I've referred everyone that will listen to go see him. Dr Gerard is easily one of the best chiropractors I have ever seen. I have visited chiropractors for most of my life since I was young and feel that spinal health is important. Whenever I have slacked off from not visiting one regularly, I definitely feel the effects. When I moved to the Austin area, it had been a couple years since I was regularly seeing a chiropractor and I was in a lot of pain from moving that countless massages couldn't seem to tackle. It was time to go back. I chose Focused On You based on the online reviews; they were able to get me into the office quickly, which was appreciated due to my pain. I started regular treatments and within a couple weeks, I was vastly improved. A friend recommend Focused On You Chiropractic for neck and back pain, tinnitus, dizziness, vertigo attacks and loss of hearing. It started five years ago and constantly got worse. I was incorrectly diagnosed many times with allergies, sinusitis, and others ailments that I did not have. One doctor told me in the emergency room it was a "mystery disease" and to just try and endure. I also lost 50% of my hearing. The ENT's said it was Meniere's disease. I began getting chiropractic adjustments at Focused On You Chiropractic about 9 months ago. I had severe pain in my hips, legs, groin and lower back. I rarely slept and sometimes could barely walk. I had failed to get total relief from physical therapy, my physician, exercise programs, etc. A friend recommended that I start going to Dr. Gerard for adjustments. I had never been to a chiropractor and was skeptical whether it would help. After seeing Dr. Gerard for just a few months, I was completely pain-free. However due to personal circumstances, I did not continue with a maintenance program. After a time, my pain returned, worse than ever. I called Dr. Gerard and he got me in for an adjustment right away. I felt better after just one adjustment and after only a few more, my pain had subsided. I've been receiving care from Dr. G now for the past 6 weeks and have nothing but great things to say about him and his staff. After 7 years of back pain, 2 surgeries, multiple chiropractors, physical therapists, and even pain specialist, I'm finally pain free!! This office is nothing like any other chiropractic office I have been in. They are very thorough about educating you so that you fully understand the process, and they constantly check in with you on how your progressing. Very different that the twisting and cracking routine I had been put through in the past. They really seem to care about making you feel better! After each adjustment, you lay on a roller table. I.E. The best 10 minute back massage ever!! They have free group exercise programs twice a week and offer nutritional advice. They take a whole body approach that has really worked for me. One down side would be if you're in a hurry. Sometimes there can be a bit of a wait (maybe like 15 minutes), but that's usually only at the end of the day, right before they close. The staffs super friendly and helpful. The adjustments are never rough or painful. read more
