I've been coming to Focused On You Chiropractic for the last 10 years after having a three level cervical laminectomy. Even after the surgery I was in so much pain that I could barely function and doing anything that I loved to do like gardening and hiking were impossible. The surgeon told me that I would have to have another two level laminectomy and a lower back fusion within two years of the first surgery, my back was that bad! I met Dr G and after he looked at my scans and x-rays, he declared that I was the worst he has ever seen. We started on his recommended treatment course right away. After only six adjustments, I woke up one morning and there was no pain! What a blessing! Six months later I went in to the surgeon for my annual check on the condition of my spine. The surgeon thought he was going to be scheduling my next surgery....much to his surprise my spine was in better shape than before. After my second annual check-up, he told me not to come back until I had issues. Dr G is all about your whole health and well-being, not just adjusting your back. Over the years, he has educated me on eating better and proper exercises that help to support my spine. I was able to lose a significant amount of weight. He has even helped me get over two major vertigo attacks! It is the plain truth when he tells you that your spinal column is the operating system for your whole body! If it is not in alignment, then you are not operating at your full potential. FOYC is not just about giving adjustments. The staff is super awesome. Dr. Ben and Team takes X-Rays and measurements of your spine. This process leads a corrective action plan, with further measurement points to check progress. During regular visits the adjustments are quick so your in and out unless there is some further exercise needed. After the adjustment there is roller tables and several roller tables that message in the adjustment. These tables set the adjustment in. I have less headaches, less sinus issues, and generally feel much better! There is also hot table and tens unit if needed. read more

Since I wrote my review, I have been diagnosed with SSCD, which is the cause of my dizziness & vertigo (among other issues). This is a rare inner ear condition that can only be treated through surgery. Although I found some relief with chiropractic treatment, it was like due to recommended rest and less muscle tension from the adjustments. My symptoms would come right back with any exertion. Luckily, I do not actually have cervical vertigo and I was able to get diagnosed after getting a new primary care physician. Thankfully, the owner of FOYC released me from my agreement so that I could continue seeking care and pay my medical bills. I have had to pay a lot for testing and appointments and I am waiting on a surgery that will also be expensive, so I'm extremely grateful for that. read more

I went to Dr. Gerard at Focused on You for an unusual and sudden pain in my shoulder. Rest, medication, stretching - none of it was working. I saw my primary care physician who suggested I rest it for three weeks, but the pain continued. I thought I would try Focused on You since it came highly recommended by a friend. The waiting room and patient rooms were clean and well-attended. Woman who greeted me was in high spirits and I felt she was genuinely happy to see me. The other patients in the waiting room were at ease and familiar with the staff, demonstrating that those who come to see Dr. Gerard keep coming back and are happy to be there. Dr. Gerard saw me promptly at my appointed time, gave me personal and uninterrupted attention, and gave me ample time to explain my condition and ask questions. Examination was thorough yet sensitive to my pain. In the end Dr. Gerard gave me specific direction on how to rehab my shoulder, and which specific supplements to take to expedite my recovery. Here is my personal experience with them : After making me drive several times into austin, charging me in the range of $1500 of which they said insurance would reimburse me for (never happened) and spending 2 months in pain with no relief at all, I found a wonderful physical theripist in R R who fixed my pain in 2 visits.
