As always, Fody's is a great comfort food tavern in Nashua. It has that New England pub charm, and great comfort food. The burger, as always, was cooked to perfection. Great flavor and a decent size, though I did not try the fries. Almost sinful I know. The Cherry Old Fashion was perfect. I asked for a Brown Sugar Old Fashion from the waitress and she looked at me quizzical, so I took the classic. For some reason, the usual fantastic Onion Soup was just okay - and I assume just an off night. It was good, just not as great as normal as it was a bit bland. The usual rich, savory flavor was not present. Fortunately, the Gruyère cheese made up for the blandness. This off night will not deter me from coming back and trying it again. read more

I have only ever been here for drinks and they are always really good! I especially like the blueberry lemondrop martini and always make sure to end the night here grabbing one of those. I like that this place is open later than everything else and the back patio is actually pretty cute and a nice place to have a conversation, one downside is that everything out there is pretty sticky. read more

As far as preambles go, ordering take-out initially from this place was like opening night of No Way Home. Instantly, we all got that vibe telling us, "Relax, we know what you like. We got this". And boy howdy-do they! For take out, we got: * Burgers: these are, by FAR, the best burgers I have tasted in the entire state of NH so far. If you can find a better burger within a 75 mile radius, point me in that direction please. In the meantime, let's just say these burgers are the epitome of perfectly seasoned and charbroiled to perfection! 10 out of 10, would recommend. * Fish n' chips: beer battered and crispy, these fish flake with ease. You also have the option of switching out sides, if you wish. I went with the truffle tater tots and....my Gawd!! These things exude an essence truffley (is that a word? oh well, whatever, I'm takin' it.) goodness! My one complaint for this dish is the lack of tartar sauce. As in...they give you one. 1. Uno. Un. Yksi. You get the picture. Point is, us New Englanders love tons of tartar sauce with our crispy beer battered fish. A bit more of this and it's tasty livin'. 8 out of 10, give it a go! * Steak tips: Alright, I'll be brief. These things were a let down, under seasoned and a little overcooked. 5 out of 10, would rather eat a burger. And then...we dined in for the first time ever. It was my wife's bestie's birthday (no, they did not sing to her). And what we got was *mostly* phenomenal: * Clam chowder: Not a great start to the evening, if we're being honest. Aside from having lack of seasoning issues, the biggest transgression was the watery-like consistency of the chowder itself. Which is a shame, considering it had plenty of substance (potatoes, clams, veggies, etc). After maybe 5 or 6 spoonfuls, I couldn't finish anymore. And it's extremely rare I do that in a restaurant. 2 out of 10, they sell better stuff at Market Basket. * Dry Aged Ribeye: Holy shit! This thing caught me off guard. I mean, I assumed it would be like all the rest, but no. Get this. They actually SEASONED their steak!! I know, right? Finally, after visiting probably 10 other places in the area with steak, this ends up being the one to get it right! It came with a garlic au jus, which....hardly tasted of any garlic to speak of. But since the steak was actually seasoned and cooked to temp perfectly, it didn't detract from the flavor much. The chived mashed potatoes were an elegant touch as well. I loved these things almost as much as my own. The whole thing was quite the delectation, flaws and all. 8 out of 10, we finally got one, you guys! ^_^ I didn't try the Mahi Mahi, but the presentation was (as they say in HK) spot-on! 10 out of 10 for presentation. The artichoke dip was also okay, but lacked seasoning. 6 out of 10. Oh, and despite the misleading moniker, the Cottage Pie does, in fact, have meat inside. Something that particularly impressed us was the wireless POS devices used to check out. This means the customer never has to helplessly watch as the server runs out of view of the patron to go do...whatever with their ATM card. Never understood this American concept, but...I suppose this is why 2FA is a thing. /endrant What I really love about this place is the atmosphere. Between the humble waitstaff, the cozy furniture, and the truffle infused aroma which wafts through the room like Casper the friendly ghost, I could very well see myself catching a case of The Itis up in here. So, that's it. We have finally come full circle from ordering take-out to finally getting a chance to dine in. I've been gracing Fody's with my presence for the past 5 years on and off. I normally go for a late night drink and karaoke! Every time I have been I have had great service and yummy strong drinks. My go to favorite is the Fody's Punch. I'm a fruity liquor type chic and this legit hits the nail on the head. It is very fruity and strong. Have one and you will want another but it will definitely lay in a punch because it is strong. I've only eaten there once or twice and it was just for quick appetizers. The food was mediocre but good for bar food. I would rave high and low about the drinks but the food is nothing to write home about. They have amazing karaoke nights with lots of participation from well sung customers. If your looking for good drinks and some karaoke this is definitely the place to be in Nashua read more

The Blackened Salmon ($18) served over orzo salad with greens & topped with cucumber dill sauce was very good. The salmon was firm on the outside and tender inside. I have been coming here for well over a decade. Remember when Paul and James were behind the bar? I do. Good times! The food, drink, and service are always consistent. The bar and waitstaff are friendly and polite. You can't go wrong with the blueberry lemon drop martini, or an old fashioned. The pear goat cheese salad hits the spot and the Mac & Cheese is absolutely amazing! If you have a big appetite, def try the lobster BLT! Maybe someday they will bring back the prime rib... I love the charm of this old building and how they have kept the old woodwork and fireplace. Paul and family have put a lot of time, effort, and money into this place. The ONLY thing I wish that they would fix, are the bathrooms. I realize it is an expensive undertaking, but they are really in need of an overhaul. The staff are nice. That's the best thing about this place. The building is old, drafty and cold. The nachos were burnt with little cheese and sour cream. The spinach dip was greasy, huge chunks of artichoke that were not pleasant to chew, and some of the carrots were slightly discolored. Someone in my party described the food as edible, and that's not what I'm looking for when I go out. The drinks are mediocre, beer and wine choices aren't great. I won't be back. read more

Used to love this place and not mind that it's a little bit of a dive. Recently the late night crowd has gotten unbearable and are the reason myself and others I know have stopped going!! It's really a shame that management has allowed for their employees to be threatened by customers. Hopefully things change and I can go back there without overhearing customers threaten to shoot the employees. Awful. read more

Soooooo yummy. We got a tavern burger, mushroom burger and the Wess T burger- ahhhmazing! Cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavor. The buns were delicious too. Also had the wedge salad and the nachos, highly recommend both. The nacho chips themselves were yummy even the ones with not much on them- but the toppings were even better. I never thought I would write a review but I left Fody's in tears so I may as well. I went alone in search of an espresso martini and some poutine fries. I had been here about 3 times before, twice with my boyfriend and once alone--this time, the old woman (who has literally seen me drinking there multiple times but I guess couldn't remember) insisted my ID was fake. I was alone and I am a woman so I already felt embarrassed enough to be there. The first young woman who was taking my order took my ID back, the old woman comes back with it and says they can't serve me because online it says Texas DL pics have been in color since 1990something and my pic is black and white. LOL. I'm soon to be 24 and my ID is real. I tell her it is real and she leaves to call someone. The younger woman comes back to say maybe it would help if I pulled up the DMV website on my phone to show the old woman what it says or whatever. I say I shouldn't have to pull up jack sh!t because why on earth would I need to do that? (Like as a paying customer? ) At this point people are staring and I'm embarrassed and say I'm just going to leave and can I please have my ID back. The older woman comes with it and I told her I shouldn't have to be going out with my passport every time I want a drink because they're going to say they've "never seen a Texas ID" with this black and white pic and I don't know what else. Maybe I'm just from out of town but I found it unprofessional and embarrassing as a patron. Like I said I left crying because I was just humiliated by that point and it sucked to deal with because I actually didn't have a fob to get back into my boyfriends apartment building who I am visiting and who couldn't get out of work, so I had to walk to a more expensive restaurant for dinner because I had nowhere else to go (I had chosen Fody's because I knew the price point already). I was walking through the area and was getting catcalled so I just walked into casa vieja, and it was definitely not great to have to spend more than I expected at the start of the night. Went to Fody's Tavern last night for dinner with my wife and had a great time. Started off with a couple of cocktails, I had a Tavern Manhattan a great twist on an old favorite. Angle the bartender mixed it to perfection. We moved on to appetizers- clam chowder and fried calamari (new to the menu). Both were great, portions were so large we ended up splitting an entree - the Argentinean Baked Cod. Again very well prepared and a substantial portion. I suggest you give it a try next time you head to Main Street Nashua. read more

We went to Fodys on a Saturday night without reservations and we were lucky enough to get seated right away. I love the historic building and cozy, bustling atmosphere. Our server was awesome, food was great. Had the salmon special and it was great. The truffled tater tots are a crispy treat! The drinks were strong and tasty. We hadn't been there in about 2 years, but we will be back. Only critique is my friend also got salmon and her piece was very small, end piece. I went on a Tuesday night and ordered a beer. The bartender proceeded to take it from another patron and serve it to me! Totally disgusting. So I told her I would prefer another drink. Her response "What's the problem, he didn't put his mouth up to it and he didn't want it anyway." She ended up serving me another beer and more attitude so I finished my beer and got out of there. Went to Fody's for dinner during Restaurant Week in Nashua. It was a cool and rainy Friday night so the foot traffic was pretty low. We had reservations for 7:30p for four. We arrived around 6 figuring we could sit at the bar and wait for our friends and have a drink. Bad idea. Although there were about 20 people in the whole restaurant, the service was so slow, we waited over 10 mins just to be asked if we wanted a drink. We were sitting in the bar area at the high tables. After ordering a beer and a cup of tea, (it was cold, remember?) I decided I wanted a glass of wine. I waited maybe 15 mins for the waiter, then waited another 15 mins for my wine to come. Needless to say, I had 1 drink. Now dinner.....we were seated around 7:30p, place still not even remotely busy and those that were there were at the bar, not eating. We waited over 15 mins for a different waiter to ask us about drinks. We should have ordered dinner when he came back with them, but the table wasn't ready so we just ordered an appetizer, calamari. When it came, we finally ordered dinner, around 8p. Calamari was good, but so crispy, you couldn't taste the actual calamari. We didn't get our dinners until after 8:30. Now remember, there was no one in there eating. Just drinking and there were 4 of us and none of us ordered anything that takes a long time to cook. I had the scallops. They were decent; very salty and too much dressing on the bed of greens they sat upon. My other half ordered the lobster BLT. He loved it. The other couple we were with ordered the filet, each. Both loved it. The food is great, but the service is awful. I will never go back. I thought it might have been our first waiter, but the second waiter was just as slow. They were both more concerned with the patrons sitting at the bar, than anyone in the restaurant. We didn't get out of there until 9:15p. Understandably, if the restaurant were busy, I expect to have a longer wait. There was only one other table of patrons eating in the whole restaurant. Great food, bad service. read more

I've been to Fody's a lof of times if for no other reason than I think it has the best atmosphere of all the bars/pubs/drinkeries on Main street. I would rate it a 4 as a bar, but for my first dinner there, I probably wouldn't go higher than 2. So, as an average, I'll call it a three and explain: As a bar: 4 stars for sure. It has an awesome cozy, old timey atmosphere and a pretty great selection of drinks, including the wine and liquor lists. They could have more beers, but they have enough to get by. Most importatntly though, it's just very warm and inviting and reminds me of Europe for some reason. As a restaurant: 2 stars i think is fair. Went for christmas eve dinner. It was a little on the expensive side, which i wouldn't have minded if the food described on the menu lived up to the descriptions. While my salad was good, my main course of chicken was a huge letdown: rubbery consistency, chewy skin, not loads of flavor. The "whipped" mashed potatoes seemed whipped with a fork by hand, and the flavor was really plain. The included dessert was a huge letdown as well. I understand that not all berries are always in season, but I think using in season berries would have been a better approach than frozen or canned or liquified out of season berries.
