Stopped at Red's today thinking we could get brunch, only to find out that the breakfast menu is only offered on weekends. Missed that bit of info on the website. No worries! We had some delicious sandwiches instead. I ordered an Open Faced Turkey Sandwich from the September Special menu. So good! Fresh roast Turkey & stuffing served on grilled Texas toast topped with gravy and served with mashed potatoes & cranberry sauce. It came out hot and I'm not embarrassed to say I ate the whole thing! The other ladies had a Muffuletta Sandwich, aTuna Melt and a Deluxe Roasted Turkey Sandwich. We all enjoyed our meals. We were definitely not rushed. The service we received from Samuel C was very good. The restaurant is large with several rooms. There are high & low top tables. Also bar seating and a patio. True to its name, the vibe here is super chill and genuinely friendly--it's the kind of place where you feel right at home the moment you walk in. I've been a couple of times now, and both visits were fantastic. My wife and daughter are both gluten-free, and it's rare to find a place that not only caters to that but does it really well. On one visit, they had the Cobb salad and the baked mac & cheese--yes, gluten-free mac & cheese! Both dishes were a hit. Today, my wife tried the potato skins and chicken fingers (both GF), and she loved them. Bonus points: during happy hour, you can get a sampling of both for just $7. That's a steal. I went with the Reuben Pizza, which is their April special, and it was wicked good. Think classic Reuben flavor on a fresh, soft-yet-crispy crust that's baked to perfection. I'm already plotting my next visit before the month ends just to have it again. It was that good. Bottom line: Friendly Red's has officially won us over. The server should spend more time concentrating on the food at the tables not the girls at other tables. This might help them to make sure that the food that customers order, is what is delivered to the table. I'm not sure how it's so difficult to bring customers fries that are hot and not those that seem like they've been sitting in a basket for 2030 minutes waiting for the next order to come in. Congratulations Friendly Red's Tavern you've won the award for the coldest soggiest french fries ever delivered to our table at any restaurant. When a burger is ordered with pickles and tomato it should be delivered to the table with pickles and tomato, easy enough. Not at this place. After our server came over to the table and we told him about the issues he made like he was going to fix it only to come back about 10 minutes later to ask us what we needed and when we repeated it, he said OK of which time food was sitting at the table because we expected him to correct the problems on the spot not 10 minutes later after flirting with a group of girls at a table across from us. I also don't really care for walking into a restaurant and catching a huge width of seafood. Seafood is not supposed to smell like that and I don't understand why this restaurant has such a strong aroma of fish based on their menu. I think that this company was better off sticking with one restaurant in Windham instead of expanding as they have because good help is hard to find and clearly Kitchen staff that cares about customers. orders is not in place here. read more

I stop in several times a month after work, typically to bring dinner home. The food is very good, the staff that take my order are friendly and make a great drink while I'm waiting. So what's my beef? The 3-4 loud drunks sitting at the end of the bar nightly using foul language and treating the space like their personal locker room. If it was 9pm on a Saturday night It would be annoying, but before 6 on a Tuesday or Wednesday, when there are families with kids sitting 10 feet away? It's completely inappropriate. No one wants to eat dinner or relax with a drink, while 4 losers discuss BJs and tell raunchy stories. Yet in a dozen plus visits, I've never seen a bartender or Manager (is there actually a manager?) say a word or ask them to quiet down. Is this is the clientele you're trying to entice? Because you're well on your way to hosting the Bon Vivant's from the Stumble Inn. I'll never meet friends there for a meal, no matter how good the food is. Be better than this. read more

Let's start by saying this place is upbeat with a clean, refreshing atmosphere in the front dining area. The back room is where the bar is with high top tables for 4, trendy music & sport channels on a couple of TVs. Friends & I had started with an appetizer of plumb,fried,white-meat, chicken that was cooked perfect, with a garlic dipping sauce. 2 good size pieces for 3 was satisfying. Our late afternoon lunch had a lot of choices. From Asian chicken on fresh lettuce with dried noodles and peanut sauce to An all American, juicy hamburger to Steak tip salad with meat cooked how we personally like it turned out delicious. No complaints at our table. The server was efficient and polite. She checked on us a couple of times. As we were finishing our meal she came back and we ordered an after dinner drink. Good mixologist knew what he was doing . All prices were similar to other restaurants at this caliber. Not ridiculous but, not fast food prices either. Drinks were in the mid teens which is a bit high for daytime. No happy hour prices seen. All in all, it was worth the time together with friends, celebrating the Christmas season together. Okay. Most of you locals have probably already heard the story. But I remember going to this spot as a kid when it was still known as The Derry Restaurant. Seriously, that's what they called it. Kinda meta-prosaic, if you ask me. But, I digress. Today, we'll discuss their modern day replacement known as Friendly Red's Tavern. So, the building got a much needed face-lift which catapulted this granite structure into the 21st century! The metaphoric ghosts of Derry Restaurant's past would be so proud. For now, we get delicious menu options such as the breakfast potato skins, homemade corned beef hash and eggs. And as you may have ascertained, all were at least mostly decent. The potato skins were a particularly original concept I honestly haven't seen done before. Overall, it works...but I wish the eggs were creamier and seasoned. They also give you sour cream, which.....is not something I ever considered pairing with bacon and eggs, but whatevs. The hash was....fine. It's homemade and I prefer the canned version (don't @ me), so I admit this may seem based. Still, it could have used some seasoning as well and been better incorporated into a seamless mixture. The Texas toast was something outta this world. At first, I thought they gave me multigrain toast by mistake. Till I zoomed in and....nope! This is Texas toast alright. Toast....with a Texas tan (I'll...get my coat). Anyways, I give the hash n' eggs a 7 out of 10. But the takeaway here is...if breakfast is this decent, imagine how much potential lies in the dinner menu. I'll definitely return, though precise timing will need to be considered. It's my understanding this place gets hella busy in the evenings and weekend. And you guys know how much ya boy hates a crowd. New girl (will leave nameless) on the bar was more interested in entertaining after hour employees. walked by us multiple times had to call over girls in order to get my tab paid . I will be taking a break from friendly Reds for a while. for the most part the Bartender/servers were good except for the occasional one who you practically had to flag down to get anything. but I am quite sick of cooks who act like (divas) the smallest modification is totally not an option. I am usually a go with the flow kinda a girl but am sick of paying $80 for a couple beers and lunch for 2 and being told no on the stupidest thing. my New Year's resolution is to go to restaurants who appreciates my business. As someone who was a cook for 25 yrs for them to tell me they did not have ingredients for scampi sauce ( which was on the menu a month before) insulted my intelligence. What did they not have. olive oil, garlic, white wine, butter and lemon? This will give me a chance to explore new places. read more

I got the California chicken which was awesome, and the wings starter with garlic sauce was great. It was a nice warm evening so we sat outside which was a pleasant time. We'll be back. read more

We had: Fish tacos 5 star Meatball app 5 star Steak tips 4 star Pulled pork sandwich 3 stars (not enough bbq sauce and Cole slaw was bland, neither sweet nor tangy. Friendly Red's opened their Derry location today (July 24, 2023) in the the former Derry Restaurant & Pizza. This restaurant and bar is very popular in Windham and they just opened a second location here in Derry. The place was renovated and redone which offers dining room seating, high top table seating and seating at the bar and a spacious outdoor patio with more seating. There are TVs at the bar, NH lottery machines, Keno and ATM on site. The bar offers 12 draft beers on their Bottoms Up draft system, wine, cocktails, martinis, and mixed drinks. I've stopped in at the Windham location numerous times for takeout food and DoorDash delivery. I like their burgers, appetizers, chicken and seafood entrees. I will mention they should not use paper boxes and paper bags for delivery takeout because the steam from some of their food has disintegrated the packaging upon delivery causing a big mess and a refund from DoorDash, which happened two years ago from the Windham location. The food menu is the same as Windham offers a variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches, burgers, ribs, chicken, seafood, steaks, fresh pasta dishes, plus a kids menu. They also serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday too. The prices here seem fair. They also offer Happy Hour specials Mon-Fri between 3-7pm. I stopped by the new Derry location on Grand Opening day and the place was very busy with the back parking lot just about full, so vehicles were parked along the street. I headed inside and found an open seat up at the bar. I noticed there were new staff here being trained on the register system. Since it was Happy Hour time, I started out with an order of Grilled Marinated Chicken Tenders - Asian style ($7 on special) with Bleu cheese, carrot sticks and celery sticks. There were 8 grilled chicken tenders smothered in a sweet teriyaki sauce which were pretty good.  Next, the Chicken Mediterranean ($18 plus tax) was comprised of fresh egg fettuccine pasta, tossed with marinated sautéed chicken pieces, baby spinach, grape tomatoes, feta, kalamata olives with light garlic and olive oil. The chicken pieces were tender for the most part with a couple very chewy pieces. Other than that, this fresh pasta dish is a big hit! Since the place was starting to get crazy busy and there were patrons waiting for a seat at the bar, I decided to get the check and cash out. It did take a while to get the check since my bartender was being trained on the register by a manager. The check came out to $27.13 with tax and before tip. Overall, the food tasted pretty good and the delivery of my appetizer and entree was very prompt, under 10 minutes for each. The friendly bartender kept my ice water full and kept on eye on things while in training. I would definitely stop in again for breakfast. read more

Came here with my friends, 1st time here, everyone's food all came out except 1 persons... the waitress disappeared for what felt like 10-16 minutes, finally I flagged her down and was like like where is her food.. all she said was it was taking longer to cook... 30 minutes after we all got our food her meal came out. Sounds like it was forgotten! So I wanted to give them another try and this time we ordered an appetizer when we ordered our drinks. Then we ordered our food like 5 minutes later. Well ALL of our food came out together our appetizer, the salad we ordered, and our meals. The prices on our check didn't match what is on the menu and they changed me extra for a side of ranch. Ordered from here last night 11/28/23, first time ever trying this place and WOW were we very DISAPPOINTED! Let's start off with how long it took our order to be ready....AN hour and 20 mins (we did place the order through yelp so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with why the order took so long but the order was placed just before 4pm and we didn't get till after 5pm....we had 5 items, 3 entrees and 2 apps) My dad found a piece of plastic in his house tip salad, the "parm fries" were just soggy fries with piece of leathery cheese on top (we didn't even end up eating them), none of our entrees came how we had ordered then and honestly the food just tasted blah. I was told really good things about this restaurant but unfortunately our first try was not a good one! Maybe eating at the restaurant the food quality is better but I don't know if it's even worth giving it another try considering the prices. read more

I come here frequently, and every time there is a staffing change. We would come on certain days Kelly and Natalie were on the bar and now neither of them are. Honestly the best bartenders you have, attentive, cheerful, and clearly hardworking and now neither are even on the bar and both are rarely there. Ambiance Like what is with the drs office decor on the walls? Super bland not inviting, just cold and dull. Touch tunes would be nice too to give patrons a little more say in the music. I know the space is small so its hard to do live music but trivia or music bingo would be awesome to get people to stay longer and spend more $$. Food Adding the pizza to the menu was an awesome move. So good especially late. And the wings are also great! For everything else, every time i come here the food is different. This soggy mess was the nachos that i ordered. After seeing someone else with it the day before, it came out not looking the same. The chips were both soggy and stale and just a gooey mass of wet cheese and not edible. Tacos are ok, there should be 3. 2 is not enough for the price and leaves you still hungry after Drinks So many times i order drinks off the drink menu and ingredients are out. I hate to leave a bad review. Please believe me, I love friendly reds tavern. My husband and I go there every week for a date lunch. Unfortunately this is the second week in a row that they haven't had the Vidalia salad dressing for their new to the menu spinach salad. Now, this would not have been a problem. The first week the waitress let me know that they didn't have it. No problem I just ordered something else. This week I ordered it again and I wasn't told until after the salad was on the table and I asked for the dressing. He went to get it and came back and they led me they didn't have it. He did offer me another dressing but is specifically to redress that salad because of the dressing. He offered me something else but my husband had places to be and he would have had to wait while they fix me something else and been late for his appointment. The other problem I had was we weren't even asked if we wanted to use our points for our meal. Something that should have been a delightful day turned out not to be. read more

Not impressed at all. Went the at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. Party of 5 with 2 minors. They put us in the bar at a table for 4 - pulled up an extra chair at the end of the table. Mind you - there was no one in the main dinning room - that tells you something right there. We ordered the queso and multi-colored chips. Limited napkins, no plates, limited chips - not worth the money. I had the Ruben and fries which was actually very good. Our party had chicken tacos - very good; Buffalo chicken Mac-n-cheese; dip sandwich; and chicken Cesar Salad. The food was actually decent. The beer selection is surprisingly very limited. The service was terrible. Everyone was packed into the bar area . The music was loud. And, it appeared that there was one vision impaired server for the whole restaurant. We went thirsty because he apparently couldn't see that no one had anything to drink. There was absolutely no attention to our table. I actually don't know how this restaurant survives after people go there one time. You can simple go right over to T-Bones where they know how to cater to their customers. I have been to this location twice. Each time was I had great service at the bar. The food was excellent on day one. I ordered a turkey burger this week. The burger was half the size of the bun and the fries were limp. It was obvious that the turkey burger was frozen. I will dine here again, but no turkey burger and I love turkey burgers. read more
