Visiting from Cali and my daughter wanted to see how BBQ tastes in Atlanta. So we decided to visit this cute restaurant which was downtown and the view was a nice place in the square. It was a nice day after the storm passed from the other day so we decided to sit outside to enjoy our dinner. She ended getting the BBQ pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast with fries and I got the Cajun Fried Ribs with Mac n cheese. The pull pork sandwich was a little dry so she added the spicy ranch to make it taste better. The Cajun fried ribs were flavorful with the spicy ranch. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I was very disappointed with my experience at Foggy Bottom Restaurant in Lawrenceville. Our first visit on Farther's Day was met with poor food quality and presentation, and our concerns were largely ignored. We paid our bill and even tipped the waitress. The manager, Paula later apologized and invited us back, assuring us they would make it right. We drove across town expecting the promised resolution, only to receive $8.50 off the bill. Had that been communicated upfront, we would have never made the trip. The food was much better the second time, but integrity and follow-through matter just as much as the meal. Unfortunately, after I questioned the bill, communication stopped. I can't recommend a business that doesn't stand behind its word. I hope they do better. Table for 3 for lunch We were out shopping in the area and I remembered downtown Lawrenceville was not too far away. It was around lunch time and we were getting hungry, so we decided to go check it out. We headed over to the town square and luckily found a parking spot right in the heart of everything. We scanned our options and Foggy Bottom BBQ caught our attention. We took a short walk over, entered and we were greeted warmly and seated quickly. I tried to convince the family to sit at an outdoor table, but I lost that battle, this time. We took a few minutes to review the menu. I noticed they had about 8 - 10 beers on tap, many of the usual suspects. The selection was not huge, but solid. I went with one of my favorites, Creature Comforts Tropicalia. My wife and daughter put in their orders while I was still debating between a couple of food options. The food menu was pretty extensive, with a wide variety of options to choose from. My daughter ordered the half slab of baby back ribs with a side of fries and mac & cheese. Wifey and I decided to share the BBQ Turkey nachos with the jalapeños on the side. The food and drinks came out pretty fast. I was able to snatch one of my daughter's ribs and they were very tender. The meat was practically falling off the bone. She also had no complaints. Amazing restaurant with a lovely server, and the ribs were some of the best I had. The only downside is that my group of 5 that went there, we all got sick with the stomach flu. In normal cases I would say I don't regret eating the ribs, but I really don't think it was a good enough trade off for this stomach flue that brought me to emergency care. TLDR: brisket is the best and overall decent place I visited this spot with a friend who lives nearby. The location is decent, and the food was better than I expected. The brisket was perfectly cooked--definitely the standout, much better than the ribs and chicken. The mac and cheese was just okay. So I went back over a weekend with one of my friends. We were sat promptly. I basically came back for the pork rinds. Once we sat we were still looking over the menu and our waitress decided she would come back to get our orders to give us some more time. She forgot about us (for about half an hour?). She sat other tables, got their drinks, got their orders in and completely forgot about us. When we flagged her down, she looked horrified. She came over and apologized profusely, stating that they rotate the tables on that side so she forgot about us. Weird, but ok, no harm done. We were in no rush anyway. We got half a rack of ribs, the onion rings the French fries and the pork rinds of course! I was a bit disappointed with the portion size of the pork rinds this time. The first time they came out in an aluminum pan. Which may have been a fluke. This time they came out in a smaller plastic rectangular basket lined with paper. It was about 2/3 the size of last time, maybe even less than that but still the same price. But they were still as delicious. Their onion rings were really good. Same as the last time, with a really crispy batter and piping hot. The French fries were not piping hot and didn't have any seasoning - they were not as good as the first time. The ribs were ok. They weren't the worst I've ever had and not the best. They were fall off the bone tender but that's about it. There was no flavor profile that made you want to come back for more. It's more like if you're in the area and want ribs, you'll make a stop. I really liked their hot BBQ sauce though. One thing to consider is their price point. If you compare their prices to other BBQ places they are way cheaper. That alone should make you want to try them at least once. I've become hooked on their onion rings and pork rinds. Maybe a treat for once in a blue moon. I just wish everything was consistent in terms of portion size and taste. Weekday vs. weekend We weren't mad about the waitress forgetting us. We really enjoyed our meal at Foggy Bottom BBQ. We started with the Cajun fried ribs, which were the best part of the whole meal! They were perfectly seasoned with a beautiful, crispy crust and fall off the bone tender rib meat underneath. It didn't even need the dipping sauce they came with! We both had the pit master combo, between us we tried brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs and smoked wings. Not a single complaint, all meats were full of smoky flavor and moist. 2 notes on the sides (which are personal preference) I like my slaw a little more salty/vinegary and same for the Brunswick stew. Theirs is definitely more sweet. BUT we stirred in some of the Carolina style bbq sauce and then it was perfect! Mac n cheese was creamy and well seasoned and the potato salad was our favorite style....like a loaded baked potato with sour cream. Texas toast was buttery and crunchy. Anytime you don't smell the makings of a real bbq restaurant, I.e. that smoke in the air, it's probably a good sign, that you should probably go elsewhere. I ordered the a platter with ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. The pulled pork was mediocre at its best, the ribs were decent and the brisket didn't have the right ratio of fat content when ordering fatty brisket. Today I felt like some smokey BBQ and Foggy Bottom was in my route. This is my third time visiting this resto. Now, the first couple visits was fine not great but ok. Also a pulled pork plate w/ mac & cheese and potatoe salad, and added side of bisket. All I have to say is I shouldn't have stopped. My boyfriend and I was very disappointed. Let me start with the pull pork. The meat didn't have ANY FLAVOR AT ALL. I mean at all. No smokey flavor nor BBQ smell. It tasted like it had been boiled in just water and then drained. I literally had to put my own seasonings on it. Now I asked for BBQ sauce on the side because I like to taste the meat first. I feel like BBQ spots want to smother they're meat with BBQ sauce to camouflage the fact that they can't BBQ. With that being said, I don't know if Foggy Bottom got a new person to smoke the meat or way. But it was horrible. The ribs was covered in sauce and I know I ask for sauce on the side. But I didn't see it until I got home. But still it wasn't an enjoyable meal. The Mac & cheese and baked beans was about the only thing we could eat without frowning. You turn at the sign, onto a broken drive, in between two buildings, and look left. You'll see the gravel/asphalt combo parking. There she is. A home turned restaurant. Walk in, meet the little ladies, get seated and order the succulent, tender, juicy, dripping off the bone BBQ. I had been wanting to try this place for awhile. We ordered a 1/2 rack of ribs with fries and green beans. I also got Brunswick stew my favorite. The service was fast and efficient. We have been here a few times but this time was horrible. We ordered the pit master plate to go and it was not good nor were the portions as seen in photos from the past. We received 1 slice of Turkey, 1 slice of brisket, and three dry cartilage dominant ribs. The collards were so salty I couldn't finish and the fries are not hand cut they are practically like McDonald's. However their most popular items tend to sell out quickly, so I would recommend beating the rush! The restaurant has a nice patio area that is on counter service. So to sit at the patio you must order at the counter and your food will be brought out to you. BRISKET is DRIPPING JUICY Came in with a family of 5 on a Sunday at 3pm. A very friendly face seated us down right away. Pulled pork very tasty, not the juiciest this time but not dry either, it was good but not great, the sauce helped give it some more juice. For sides we had fries, very fresh, the oil they cook them in very clean, Mac and cheese, fried okra and baked beans. Nothing was left on the plates kids and wife alike enjoyed it! The Texas toast is also really good! Hopped out of the truck as we were in the process of delivering to pick up a quick bite to eat. I like stopping around at the local joints around Lawrenceville's downtown. This one is a BBQ joint and it smelled quite tasty. I decided on the shareable nachos I added BBQ pulled pork. Can't see it in the pic, bc it was covered up by all the toppings, but I asure you there was more than enough. I did not finish these in one sitting and reheated in my oven for lunch the next day. I like that they give you a sour cream pack, oh and the Jalapeños have a nice kick. I ordered Joshua some sweet potato fries nothing special and a slice of the peanut butter dessert pie. We both thought the pie serving based on the price was a little on the small side and wasn't expecting so creamy of a peanut butter. I actually really love this place. From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. I had been running a little late so a friend was already waiting and she ordered some appetizers based on the recommendation of the waitress. Being hungry, I also ordered some appetizers and did the fried mac and cheese. Granted, not the healthiest option but definitely delicious. From there, I got a sampler type place and my friend a burger. Soooooo delicious, I am obsessed with their Brunswick Stew, Meaty, heart and tasty. The place is located in historic Lawrenceville so parking is hit and miss but there is some parking on the side of the building as well as on the street and block. The family wanted to switch it up this evening so we made a pickup order for Foggy Bottom online (via the website). *I find that by selecting my order through these apps, there is less margin for error to mess up the order; and our order was completed exactly as input. We ordered two chicken tender meals which come with one side (one had fries and the other had potato salad); we also got a half rack of rib meal with mac and cheese and collards. The presentation of each was very nice. All of the meat was super tasty and packed with flavor. I had the potato salad and I enjoyed it. My mother in law had the mac and cheese and collards, which she said was just okay. She is a picky eater so you all will have to judge for yourself. Tips: It's easiest to park behind the building, but it can be a tight squeeze if you have a "monster truck." It's really a short walk from most open parking in Lawrenceville though. The pickup section is in the back, so don't feel obligated to wait up front at the hostess stand (should there happen to be a line for those dining in). And of course, don't come here if you feel sick...use common sense. Staff wears masks and those that were eating inside were spaced appropriately. read more

The young lady that took my to go order (Trinity was awesome) very helpful and friendly. I didn't enjoy the food. It was mediocre. I even allowed 3 other people in my home opportunities to try it that had never tried it. They all said the same thing. Not a lot of parking. They have a small parking lot that they share with the food place next door (strange taco, excellent food). They also have street parking. Let's start with brisket. It was tender but not flavorful. The pull pork taste very bland. The ribs were tender In the side but the outside was tuff to chew maybe just cooked too long. The sauces were good.
