So my family and I decided to try this place out because I saw a social media post about it. I read the reviews and people praised a lot of the food items so I knew I had to check it out for myself. The service is good. Everyone that works there is nice. You get your own food. They have servers that get you your drinks and clean off your table. What I loved The biscuits and gravy Mac and cheese Fried chicken Fried catfish Everything was good but I will go back for those items. Just enough foods to choose from. They do lack in desserts though. But I'm ok with that be because of the price. The food area is clean. The bathroom was not as clean. They could work on that part. Overall. We came in on our way east through the weekend traffic. The ambiance is casual but decorated tastefully with a southern charm complete with old paintings , flowers, and chandeliers . There is a patio for hot summer days. The salad bar is fresh and the food was delicious especially the sweet potato casserole and fried chicken! The meatloaf however was too dry. However, the delicious muffins make up for it especially the lemon poppy seed ones! Veggie standouts: green beans and corn. Carb standouts: mac and cheese, shrimp fried rice and pinto beans. The sweet tea is good without being too sweet. Its a buffet but we had a server who was on spot the whole meal. They play country music via Sirius xm radio which makes for a relaxing meal. I've been meaning to stop by this place since it changed and is a country food place. I came at lunchtime on a Thursday. They have a cafeteria style bar that is ala'carte. Salad bar with toppings, meat choice, and veggies with biscuit/cornbread. All at your choice. They also had pieces of cakes. I had the meatloaf, mash potatoes with white gravy, and a biscuit. Got a pice of carrot cake to go. For drink I had sweet tea. The food all tasted good and was fresh. Server brought my drink right after I sat down. Well, this place is different ! It is cafeteria style, BUT serve yourself! They just opened where 5 spot is too be on Progress and 316. Love the new decor very fresh and clean! Our server Amy was fantastic! She explained how things worked after seeing us looking confused! They had several meats, fried chicken, country fried steak, baked fish, fried swai fish, which I got that was delicious, baked chicken, and I think meatloaf. Meats were like $3.40, vegetables around 2.40/2.80, same for desserts. I chose broccoli casserole, and it was so good! Plus, I had a very fresh salad along with strawberry shortcake. My friend had swai and chicken, Mac n cheese, and green beans. He cleaned his plate, saying everything was great! Oh yeah, he had a biscuit that was Ahmazing and huge! Food was gross. Nothing was kept at a safe temperature. Luke warm to cold buffet food can make people sick. The quality of the food is very low too. Looks like most of the items are out of a can or from Sam's or Costco. My wife spit out everything she tasted. Everything had an off taste, not what it should be and not what is expected. I found a chunk of unidentifiable black something in my creamed potatoes after I put it in my mouth. Stay away! This place won't last long before it's out of business. It appeared someone had spent years shopping antique and thrift stores to find enough old crap to attach to every bit of the wall space. I just found this restaurant and was pleasantly surprised at the location of you know your way around Lawrenceville you can get to it with no traffic my friend and I had lunch which was 12.99 each we are seniors we came at 1:00 so brunch was still out I got the feeling that they wanted people to eat what was left from brunch because there was no green vegetables just alot of starches mashed potatoes sweet potatoes Mac and cheese home fries so maybe next time I will go around 2 The baked chicken was very dry and the macaroni salad tasted like green peppers although there were none in it. The potato salad had way too much mustard. The service was top notch everyone was friendly and made sure our drinks were full and our used plates were taken away. This was actually my second time visiting this restaurant. The location is a bit away from everything and it just sits alone like a little country cottage. Lots of parking was available. And both times I went it was actually not busy at all. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, asking us if we had ever been there before. My children hadn't so the waitress was very sweet and explained to them how things work there. So basically it's an à la carte type of deal. You go down the buffet line and choose the items that you want. Most of the food was country comfort food if I had to explain it. Fried chicken, chicken livers, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, baked macaroni and cheese, fried fish, and of course salad and some desserts. There was more also including cornbread. There's a station off to the side with all of the fixings that you'll need, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce... Those type of things. We all said at the table and the waitress came along with her handheld computer to input each item that we had. And for a family of four, our bill was only around $60, which was absolutely amazing. As far as the food goes, it wasn't bad, but could have been seasoned a little bit more and possibly freshened. But I'm still not complaining. The entrance feels like you're walking into one of your old family members homes in the country. The inside feels like you're in your grandma's kitchen. Food is bulk institutional level, not great. It caters to people working in the business park who have few other choices. Went to this address looking for something else. They don't list clearly how much each item cost, so you don't know how much your entire meal will be. They don't weigh your plate ,so you don't know how much you will pay. I have to say all the meats were well seasoned and warm-- fried chicken, grilled chicken, fish, meatloaf-- spot on. The veggies on the other hand were all cold and unflavored (except the corn and sweet potatoes casserole). I probably would've enjoyed more if I wasn't so cold. It was as if the heat wasn't working at all.. granted it was very cold today and the place is full of windows. For $13.99 ($12.99 for seniors) and free kids under 4, I'd probably return but I wouldn't be craving or running to get it-- hence my rating. The people were VERY nice though. My husband and I frequented this place when it was the 5 Spot. We decided to try out the Home Kitchen last Saturday and most likely won't be back. We arrived about 15 minutes before lunch was set to start. We were given the option to get "what was left" from the breakfast items or select from the lunch menu. We came for the breakfast so we opted for what was left. I literally got a half a spoonful of scrambled eggs, a 4-inch piece of smoked sausage and a hashbrown. My husband had a scoop of eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, 2 pieces of sausage, a biscuit with gravy and a scoop of grits. We were told to sit anywhere and proceeded to eat. I asked my husband if we don't pay when we get the food, how will they know what we got? ... a lady came over when we were done eating and asked if we were ready. She handed me a hand-held with a total. There was no breakdown of what we were being charged for nor were there any amounts listed... just a LARGE total for not a large amount of food. My husband was confused with it being both a buffet and "a la carte". I was confused after I received the check, which came up to over $48.00 with a 20% tip! Yes, even though they only brought us water, I still tipped 20%. The décor was nice and the staff was friendly. I just think not knowing the prices in advance or even while making your plate, nor when paying, lead to some serious "sticker-shock". The food was food, neither good nor bad...but then again, we got the end of the morning food and not freshly made. It may be easier to have the prices of each item listed on the buffet glass so the customer is aware.
