After moving homes, our Kenmore Elite french door fridge started forming a huge ice sheet on the bottom of the freezer. We called Foley Appliance after trying to youtube the problem ourselves. He was easy to reach through the phone, and easy to set up an appointment (he was even able to come by the same day I called if I was free). I told him our issues with the freezer and he gave us a decent quote over the phone, with a warning that it may go up if we need to order parts. He comes over the next day, fixes up the fridge in less than 30 mins, and paid him with a check the exact quote he gave us over the phone. He told us we were lucky to have called him first since most people won't repair Kenmore Elite's french doors. He told us he used to work for the manufacturing side of appliances (before the parts become branded) so he's familiar with most appliances. He was a professional with a trustworthy demeanor. I have a LG stove that needed work on as it was not heating the oven portion. I called John in the morning around 10AM and explained to him my situation and asked if he could come and give me an estimate at his earliest. Well, he said he could stop by the same day around 1PM. He arrived on time, spent about an hour looking for the problem and was successful in doing so. He said he could get the part needed and it would be in the following day around 12N. As good as John's word, he got the part and was at my house at 12N. John is the real deal and I would recommend him to anyone who has a need for repairs to any appliance. Johnny came out to my house because I had been dealing with a LG dryer that didn't heat. It had been previously repaired by All Star Appliance but it still wasn't working. Johnny said he checked everything and could not find out the issue with the dryer but told my husband he would follow up with him later after he did some research to found a possible cause. 3 weeks later NO CALL from Johnny. So I called him and he proceeds to tell me that he did not tell my husband he would call back and that he had met with the tech from All Star and had coffee. They discussed my dryer. Johnny's recommendation was to buy another dryer because mine was gone to the graveyard.... A week later I call Eddy's Appliance repair off Craigslist because I refuse to believe my dryer of 3 years is dead. Eddy comes out and immediately.....hold on IMMEDIATELY diagnose the issue with my dryer. Eddy says the dryer duct is too small to accommodate my dryer and that it is blowing the fuses as a safety feature. At this point I am doubtful Eddy from CL can fix my dryer after all he is my 3rd tech... This dryer new was $969 so that's why I have invested time to repair versus replace. Back to Eddy.....I authorize Eddy to order the parts for $107 bucks and my husband repairs the dryer duct......2 months later my dryer is still drying. If I would have listened to Johnny I would be out of a $1000 dollars for a replacement rather than $107 and a honey do..... My advice get a second opinion before tossing an appliance based on Johnny's recommendation. Update - that dryer is still going strong and today's date is 2/19:14 Thank you Eddie!!!!!!!! Foley's repair was so helpful! He came on a weekend evening because our refrig has stopped working all of a sudden. He came the same day we called!!! We assumed that the repairs would take awhile and we might even have to buy a new frig all together. I could write a novel here, and still not have enough words to describe what a great experience we had! Our 8-year old Samsung dryer stopped heating just today, and calling another repair company we were told Monday was the soonest they could be here. I was desperate, and thought I'd 'Yelp' it to see if we could find someone sooner. Based on the reviews, we chose Foley's, and thank goodness we did! We called and got Johnny, who listened to the problem, asked about the model, and was able to tell us over the phone about how much the repair would be. We asked when he could make the appointment, and said he'd be here in about 30 minutes! Wow! He got here quickly, took the dryer apart, and it was exactly what he thought. He ran to the shop, grabbed the replacement part, was back within 20 minutes, and put the dryer back together. From the time we called to the time the dryer was fixed, no more than 2 hours had gone by, probably not even that. Johnny is awesome, Foley's is the bomb, and we are fans for life! My experience with Johnny of Foley's Appliance Repair was top-notch. I initially called Johnny because our 6-year-old Samsung dryer suddenly would just make a humming noise upon starting it, and the drum wasn't turning. From our neighborhood FB page, Johnny came highly recommended so I called, and told him the issue with the dryer. He had me and my husband go to the dryer, and he talked us through a quick fix, no charge! He did indicate this could be a sign of the motor going out, and prepared me for the cost should that happen. Well, about 10 loads later, the dryer would start for 10 seconds and stop. So I called Johnny again, and he came out the next day. After confirming the motor had gone out, he ordered the part, and said he'd return in day or two when the part came in. I had asked him if it is normal for a 6-year-old dryer's motor to go out, and we got into a conversation about today's quality of appliances. When Johnny returned a couple of days later to replace the motor, after he was done and the dryer was up and running again, I mentioned that our refrigerator ice maker quit working about a year ago, but due to the age of the fridge, we didn't think it was worth fixing. He opened the freezer door, checked things out and figured out the ice maker arm had come out of its slot (not visible to us). So the ice maker is fixed, but I told him we shut the water off because the water dispenser in the door activated during a power surge spilling water all over the floor. He took the panel apart and pointed out that the dispenser "thingy" (my words, not his) was sticking. He took the time to clean that "thingy" up, and it no longer sticks. The water was turned back on, and we were back in the ice-making business. I asked Johnny how much we owed for the fridge, and he said not to worry about it. I still paid him a little extra because I was so appreciative of the above-and-beyond help he provided. My refrigerator was not cooling consistently and after a night of pulling all my food out and taking it to the neighbor's house, I called John. I called at 8, didn't get him, but tried again at 8:10 and got him. He was at the house in less than an hour. I hadn't checked the refrigerator that morning and sure enough it was working perfectly. Had a leaking water line in my LG refrigerator. Called John at 8:15 AM and he was willing to come to my house between 9:00 and 9:30, same day! I told him I had until 10:30 to be done and that didn't seem to be a problem with him. He showed up on time (9:15), assessed the issue and needed to run out for the proper size tubing replacement.
