    Chocolate chip cookie

First visit today and I was impressed! Great location, nice ambiance, and kind baristas. I got an employee-developed drink with iced tea, lemonade, and blueberry-rosemary syrup. It was tasty, but quite sweet. A plain black coffee got a thumbs up from my very discerning brother-in-law, and my sister enjoyed her lemonade. I also ordered a chocolate chip cookie, which was delicious: buttery, chocolatey, and soft, each bite was consistent and comforting. Sister and BIL got the Grizzly Adams, a big bagel sandwich with all the meats. They really enjoyed it--and it smelled delicious. Two cons from this experience. First, slow service. On a Saturday morning, two folks working behind the counter seems like understaffing. The baristas were rushing and it still took 15+ minutes for a bagel sandwich to come out. Second, the Ronald Reagan picture on the wall. Wtf. Overall, a good visit and someplace I'd come back to again--as long as I'm not in a hurry.

Excellent!!! Such a cool place with nice decor and good coffee and snacks. We searched for a coffee shop in the Star Barn area and this place was open and sounded good. Sure happy we tried it. My wife and I both had the Ol St Nog latte, oh my goodness so good. I had a piece of coffee cake and my wife had the brownie, both were absolutely delicious. Service was pleasant and helpful. Definitely better off stopping here and supporting the small business instead of the chain shops.

We chose this coffee house for two reasons: They were open (novel concept!) and the name, as hubs has a thing for folklore. It did not disappoint! The service was outstanding - the owner was there my second time (yes, we've already been there twice) to answer some questions I had about their energy bites... and he personally made our drinks that were AMAZING. They stock a number of local goodies, including a chocolatier... and I won't tell you how much of that we bought... and ate. I got the baked oatmeal and was shocked it came out as a giant square... poured the steamed oat milk (you get your choice of milk & toppings) over the yummy, melty chocolate chips and it was so good I've had it twice! The gluten-free banana chocolate chip muffin was so dense I had to save it for later & had it as part of lunch. I'm sure we'll be visiting Folklore again while we're in the area!

Omg! So cute! The setting is really great... such a cool old building with brick walls and hardwood floors. Really unique drinks. I had a hot cinnamon cayenne mocha latte... my hubby had a random latte. We were both really happy with our drinks. You can taste that the coffee is high quality. I'm glad neither was overly sweet so we could really taste how good they were. They also had a variety of local treats. BTW we are willing to drive for a great experience. It was definitely worth the 20 minute drive. I can't wait to return to try more special drinks that caught my attention.

My sister and I stopped in on a Saturday morning to grab drinks and breakfast sandwiches. The lemonade was tasty and triple meat breakfast sandwich was good as well. There is a lot of space inside the shop as well as al fresco dining, and it is nicely kept up. Unfortunately, the Saturday we were there, the shop was severely understaffed. The folks working were polite and working as hard as they could, but it was clear that their managers had left them understaffed. We waited about 20 min for our orders of 2 cold drinks, 1 hot drink, 1 sandwich, and 1 cookie.

I remember this place being better in the past the it was today. The food was nothing great and the coffee lacked flavor. The setting is still very cool and I love the atmosphere. The staff also weren't all that helpful. My friend and I ordered two lattes one being dairy free and staff just set down the drinks and walked away without any clarification as to what drink was which. We had to ask them to come back and clarify which was dairy free.

We got two espressos to sip on while we waited for our iced lattes. We ended up drinking our espresso and stayed for an hour, maybe a little longer..it just felt like we were hanging out at home. The environment is so welcoming and comfortable with all the couches and comfortable seating. And there is a lot of area to sit. If you're concerned about social distancing..you'll be more than comfortable inside. The espresso was amazing I'll give that a 4 out of 5. The iced lattes were also bomb..I got a hazelnut with skim ( they only non dairy is oat milk). Also...I'm a trans man, and felt totally comfortable and safe walking in and hanging out in here. They also have a gender neutral bathroom. The price range I selected was so high because we loved it so much..we bought merch. Soooo much merch!! Photo credit: @faithcollinsphoto

During a time when not supporting chains like Starbucks due to their support of genocide. I ventured and found this lovely local coffee shop. I haven't spent much time in Etown, so when I went inside, I was blown away by how cute and relaxing the atmosphere is. I tried mochas and lattes and they sure did not disappoint. All of the staff I encountered were kind and helpful. Highly recommend stopping here, to support local and enjoy a quality cup of coffee!

That said, execution fell pretty short and the dishes felt pretty underwhelming as a whole. Black Gryphon offers an elevated bar/pub environment with cool concepts for appetizers and entrees. I thought the kobe dog and ants climbing a tree apps were tasty, but unfortunately felt pretty underwhelmed by the wings, duck confit open-faced burgers, and the pork belly tacos. The flavors kind of landed 2-dimensional. Our server was very nice and accommodating, but it was also weird because there was only one server that I saw for the entire restaurant, so I don't know if the experience would've been different if they were busy that day (there were maybe 2 tables total that we were there). All in all, it's an okay spot. Lots of cool ideas that have a lot of potential, but didn't quite hit the mark for me.

Given the festival atmosphere happening nearby, I expected crowds. Instead, I walked in and had the place entirely to myself. Fantastic! The woman working the counter greeted me right away and had exactly the kind of friendly-but-slightly-snarky personality that I absolutely adore. She made ordering fun without overdoing it, which immediately scored points in my book. After looking over the menu, I kept things relatively simple and ordered a chili cheese dog with onions, no bun, served on a bed of French fries, plus a can of Diet Coke. Total damage: $10.07. When she asked if I wanted the hot dog cut up before everything was assembled together, I enthusiastically accepted. Someone who understands that sometimes food is supposed to be a glorious mess is my kind of person! While waiting for my food, I took a look around. Future visitors should know that indoor seating is extremely limited. There's one high-top table just inside the door and about six barstools along the counter. However, that's not really where this place shines. Outside, there are several picnic tables, plus a beautiful covered side porch with another six to eight tables. If the weather is nice, absolutely plan to eat outside. If the weather isn't cooperating, I'd probably recommend takeout. A few minutes later, my masterpiece was ready. I grabbed my food and drink and headed straight for the covered porch. It was approximately 92 degrees outside with a heat advisory in effect, which most reasonable people would consider a terrible time for an outdoor picnic. I am apparently not most reasonable people. The meal was exactly what I hoped it would be. The chili deserves special recognition because it was actual chili, not the mysterious meat sauce that sometimes masquerades as chili on hot dogs. This stuff had real texture, generous chunks of ground meat, and just enough spice to keep things interesting without setting your face on fire. The diced onions were plentiful, the cheese was perfectly melted, and everything was assembled exactly the way I requested. It was messy. It was delicious. It was absolutely worth eating with a fork. For my first visit, this was a solid win. The food was good, the staff were great, the prices were reasonable and the porch made for a perfect place to sit and enjoy a summer evening. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu! Stumpy's offers several specialty dogs that caught my attention, but I wasn't quite brave enough to try their Strawberry Dog during Strawberry Jam. Maybe next year. Maybe.
