My MIL gave me a membership here for a gift and I was in the area so we decided to stop by. I didn't have reservations as it was impromptu, but since I was a member they were able to accommodate. The place was beautiful, they had a band playing and very spacious and green and the sun was out and the little shop they had in the building was super cute. The bathrooms were super cute and overall we just had a great time. The waitress was really nice with us and gave us great detail about the wines and the food was delish. Food, service and views fantastic. I had a reservation as soon as they opened at 10 on a Sunday. Seated quickly and staff was great upon arrival from hostess to waiting staff. Knowledgeable and friendly. Hats off to the chef, food was super good. We had a flatbread and a salmon entree. Creative dishes and Flavor was there . Very dog friendly as there were many who brought their dogs. They were not overly crowded but I assume it would be busier in evening when lights are lit and grounds are illuminating. Last week my girlfriends and I had the most disappointing experience . As a previous reviewer reported - the main building is being renovated which we were not informed of when we made a reservation for lunch a month ago . I had even called to confirm our reservation but whoever I spoked to never informed me of the change in menu nor that we would not be seated at the main building . Had we known that limited food options were being offered from their usual menu - we would have cancelled this reservation . The prepackaged ham and cheese sandwich with a bag of kettle chips was something we could have bought from a grocery store . It was also overpriced for a tasteless sandwich with bread that was too thick . Please be more clear to customers about what to expect while this renovation of the main building is being complete ! read more

I really enjoyed our visit here! As many others suggested, it is best to make a reservation here and we did. When we arrived we were able to find parking easy due to the multiple lots. We were seated immediately but unfortunately it was in a spot without an umbrella. If this is you, bring your sunscreen and sunnies! I unfortunately forgot both and had to send my husband to our hotel up the road because it was so bright I could barely see. Once I had my sunnies, we were all set though and our waiter, Pedro, did end up bringing us an umbrella as soon as one was free without us having to ask so that was really nice! We ordered the signature flight, the margherita flatbreads and the charcuterie board. Honestly, we're not big wine drinkers we just mostly like the ambiance of wine tasting, so I can't say much about the wine. It was all really tasty and refreshing? But my bar is probably pretty low. Now, the food is more my wheelhouse and we loved their charcuterie board! So much variety here between the various Italian meats, cheeses, candied walnuts, and fruits. Hjghly recommend as I'm sure you will find something here will pair well with the many wines available! The margherita pizza was tasty but not really the traditional margherita I was expecting. It was good, but the sauce had a bit of a kick to it and the tomatoes were really thick. The wood fired crust though was delicious. This is a beautiful winery, but when we went (on a Friday) it was super crowded. It's very touristy. On top of that, this winery was woefully understaffed. The check-in area ("wait here for a host to seat you") was completely abandoned when we arrived. We wandered into the garden and had to ask someone what the procedure was since their was no host upon entry. A short while later were walked back to the host stand where they checked us in. The food here was good (Roasted chicken and Margarita pizza), but the wine was forgettable. Our server was nice, but trying to get the check at the end of our lunch was a challenge. We ended up being here for 2 hours, which is ridiculous for a small lunch and a few glasses of wine. Finally, as we were leaving, we walked by others standing around the abandoned host stand, wondering what to do to get a table. I would have given them 2 stars, but I added a star because they are dog-friendly. read more

We had a wonderful experience during our recent Vineyard & Cellar Tour. Katie was a wonderful tour guide, very friendly and knowledgable, and we enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the vineyard, grounds, and production facilities. During our tour of the the cellar we got to see the grapes that had recently been harvested, and even had the chance to taste a sample straight from the barrel! Overall, it was a lovely experience and well worth the price. We ended up purchasing several bottles to take home, and we will definitely return when we're next in Carmel Valley. read more

TLDR: Service is horrific, better service to be found interacting with a brick wall, thank you Sergio. *Sarcasm* My partner and I came in to celebrate during our anniversary weekend. Thank you to our server, Sergio, for making it a visit we wouldn't forget (sarcasm). Firstly, we were never informed that we would be getting one glass for each wine in our tasting- my partner and I were willing to pay to have our own individual tastings so as not to have to share the "healthy splash" and to get our own glasses. Unfortunately, we weren't given the opportunity to even ask to do it that way, as Sergio assumed we would share one glass and to start my partner and I thought we were drinking the same wine until I got a white and he got a red and we realized what had happened. In the end, glad we didn't do our own tastings, I would've hated to spend more money at a place not worthy of it. Next issue was horrible service. Sergio was EXTREMELY difficult to track down. We saw him roughly every 40 minutes. Horrible experience. It got to the point that we didn't want to ask him for anything extra seeing as it would take him another 40 minutes to appear to fulfill the request. We got extremely antsy by the end, and had assumed he could have started his lunch break at that point. Shout out (sarcasm) to the woman server with the blue dangly earrings who was standing in front of us and looked directly at us as we waved at her desperately attempting to get anyone's attention so that we could LEAVE. Not to mention, there was no one questioning if we had a special occasion. We were looking to buy a bottle to keep as memorabilia, but the experience was so horrific we chose not to. Honorable mention (sarcasm) to the young women sitting at the table at the entrance, they were very nonchalant and couldn't seem to muster a smile for any of the guests upon entry. Only positives: the setting is absolutely beautiful (despite the bee and hornet issue), the sweet kid who was going from table to table giggling and chatting with folks, and the pesto pizza was pretty good. The charm of this vineyard is evident as soon as you walk onto the grounds. The outdoor seating with live music gave it a lively ambiance and since we were there on a nice sunny day everyone was sitting outside enjoying the weather and music. To start the flatbread was probably the best classic Margherita flatbread I have ever had. Im not sure what it was but the dough tasted so fresh as well as all the other ingredients. We were able to enjoy a glass of wine and our server let us know we are free to walk around. We spent the afternoon enjoying a beautiful summer day at a lovely vineyard. We waited 3 hours and we neither got a text or a call confirming our waitlist or that the table was ready. Our afternoon was wasted. This is definitely one of my favorite places that I visited on my trip. I arrived super late due to traffic coming from the Santa Cruz area, but they still accommodated my reservation. Everyone was super friendly here and they even upgraded me to VIP seating. Unfortunately, because of traffic being so bad and taking an extra hour to get here I was behind on schedule and only had time for one glass of wine. Although, I could have easily spent hours here enjoying the beautiful scenery. I hope to come back soon so I can enjoy another glass of wine. read more

We weren't fans of all of the wines but several were good - our favorite was The Messenger but we also enjoyed The Hound and loved the artwork on the bottle. Beautiful grounds, but the service was very disappointing. We were served two wrong items, had to ask repeatedly for water, and plates sat on our table far too long. A dog at the next table had hair flying onto our cheese board, and when we were ready to check out, our server disappeared. The setting is absolutely gorgeous--a greenhouse-style space with multiple tables surrounding the main area, complemented by charming barrels and cornhole games that add to the ambiance. The wine flights are a great touch, offering a variety of selections to suit different tastes. As for the food, everything was delicious! We went on a whim tonight after grabbing food near the winery. The weather was great, we were given a great table, and received excellent service from Nick. When we told him we had never been to their tasting room, he came back and splashed us with their most popular wine, a sparkling rosé. It was fantastic, and Nick's knowledge balanced with his easygoing friendliness made us feel right at home. They had a lovely band playing outside from 4-6. We tasted several wines and bought two to take home. The vibe was everything, heaters near or at every table if it was a colder evening, though we didn't need them today. The band playing was excellent. Nick's service was thoughtful and attentive, without being overbearing. We really enjoyed the vibe, the wines, the music, but mostly the service that Nick provided. We had a wonderful experience the other day. We showed up (2people) without a reservation so we had to wait about 20min before being sat, but we were offered water and given a splash of sparkling rosé while we waited. The wait was more than worth it. While they were booked with reservations for the rear terrace that overlooked the vines, we got a beautiful little table right by the fountain in the front courtyard and our Wine Educator, Dan, was super knowledgeable and very welcoming. We tried one of each flight and loved the wines, we may end up joining theire wine club, since you can join online through their website. They even offer a full menu for food although we just shared a charcuterie board and an artichoke dip, which was the best artichoke dip we have ever had and made with local Castroville artichokes. The supervisor Nick stopped by a couple times and was also very informative about the wines and the Manager came by to clear our table as we finished our food and asked if it was our first time in and where we were visiting from. As it turns out, he grew up in Santa Cruz as well so we chatted a bit and he recommended joining the wine club since we lived so close that we could enjoy the full perks of membership. We will definitely be back, although hopefully as members next time. They even had live music from 4-6pm and stream the music throughout the entire place so we could enjoy it in the courtyard as well, since the musicians were performing on the back terrace. The Manager, Chris, even gave us a couple of extra tastes of some of their newer releases that were not on the menu quite yet--The Ruler Pinot Noir was superb and my wife loved the Pet-Nat Rosé of Sangiovese. read more

Me and my friend loved our time here. The surrounding area was so beautiful, seeing the sunset here is really a beautiful event. The flatbreads we got were so gooooood, and not too heavy at all. The wine tasting we got wasn't too much alcohol and it came with knowledge explanations about the background and taste of the wines. The service was pretty greats, it started slow but they apologized with Champagne, and afterwards the timing of the food and wine was spot on. Wow, where to start. My husband and I made reservations hoping to have a romantic dinner, we love wine so we thought this would be a great place to spend the evening. I had seen the bad reviews and I always try to give the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately I have to agree with them. Our server was not only unfriendly, but also the most negligent server we have ever had. He never smiled, never asked how we were or how things were as the meal progressed. He grabbed our wine, put in our appetizer then avoided us. He didn't bring us utensils or napkins so we had to make due when out appetizer came. My husband had to flag him down to put in out entrees. I was ready to leave at that point, my husband wanted to give them more of a chance. I am a very patient person, but we finished our bottle of wine and bottle of water before ever being asked for our order, that I feel is a reasonable breaking point. read more

It's a beautiful location, flatbreads are delicious, and wine is incredible, but what really elevates it is the service. Every time we've visited the staff has been attentive and considerate, not to mention excellent at making recommendations (even though we know very little about wine and so we couldn't really give them a lot to work with). My favorite was one time we visited and the server (sommelier? like I said, I don't know much here) learned I have a background in chemistry and we got to talking about how the climate, soil, etc. might affect the flavors. Very cool. For our wedding, they were again fantastic. They made good recommendations with respect to quantity, didn't try to over-sell or anything like that. Thanks to our visits, we already knew what we wanted, so we didn't need help selecting. When my parents went to pick the order up and make a visit of their own, the staff were really sweet and made sure they got an extra good table, to celebrate the special weekend, even though we weren't having the wedding there or anything.
