One of my favorite taco places in Charlotte. I used to go here religiously on Tuesdays. They have tacos for only a dollar all day. I usually get 3 asada tacos and 2 pastor tacos topped with the green sauce. The green sauce is fantastic. I usually ask for more because I like my tacos spicy. They have alcoholic drinks for a decent price on the back of their menu. The place is very authentic because the workers speak Spanish and the restaurant has traditional music playing! It will surely make you feel like you're in the right place for tacos with your friends! The workers are nice and friendly! Service isn't bad but you might have to get their attention when it's busy. Craving tacos? Then you should definitely try this place.

If you don't celebrate Taco Tuesday like it's a religion, then I don't know what is wrong with you. This is hands down my favorite taco places in Charlotte. They also have a competitive, can't-be-beat deal for Taco Tuesday. $1 Tacos. If you really want to get the full experience, get a shot of tequila with your tacos. I recommend getting the Asada Tacos and adding cheese.

Drove by this place on the way to another place downtown Charlotte, so we busted a u-turn because my gf was not feeling the ride to dt since we came at 10:45am, hungry coming straight out the gym. The place has a nice size parking lot and clean restrooms with a "FastDry" hand dryer with fancy blue lights. Mexican-style atmosphere, clean dining area. Took about 1 min before someone greeted us. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos, which were delicious! Loved the grilled jalapeno and grilled green onion...there's a green, red, and orange sauces, which were fire!! We couldn't handle it, but the green sauce was bearable. If u love spicy, then you will love the red and orange sauce. My gf ordered the Chorizo con Huevos desayuno plate, which came with rice, avocado, refried beans, sour cream, and Mexican cheese. Side order of tortillas were freshly made. All delicious! The waitress did a good job bringing us food and checking on us to see how we liked the food and if we needed anything else, but took forever to check if we were ready to pay, so I just walked up to the register myself to pay.

What's so special about Tuesdays??? Guess you won't know until you experience $1 Taco Tuesday here!!! Ahhhh, this spot has tacos that hits all the right spots after that long Monday you've had the day before. They do have only four choices for the Taco Tuesday deal, so try one of each. I think the choices were pollo, asada, barbacoa, and pastor. My favorite are the asada tacos paired with that green sauce that has just the right amount of ~hotness~. Ask for some lime on the side to complete your tacos just riiiiight. Everyone at the restaurant was super nice and attentive! I'd definitely recommend this place to be one of your regular stops whenever Tuesday comes around!

I went to Fonda La Taquiza for lunch and we had 7 people in our group! We were greeted right away and seated! However, our waitress that we got after the greeter was not very present! She kept leaving us in mid request. she would go missing for long periods. She didn't seem interested in our table at all! On the food: the food was delicious! Very very authentic! I had tacos I ordered 4 different tacos but you can get away with only 3 for lunch! The pricing was very seasonal for each taco! I had 1 pollo, 1 asada, 1 barbacoa (my favorite), and 1 Alambre (beef and bacon) I can not wait to go back and try other things! My coworkers ordered Chicken Mole, shrimp Tacos, enchiladas and La Chimi (deep fried burrito) Everyone enjoyed there meals!

When we first walked in, we were the only people in the restaurant. There were 5 of us. It took forever to get anything... And throughout the evening, we were still the only people in here. We ordered an appetizer... It didn't come until the food came out, which took about 45 min. The wait time was unbelievable and we had horrible customer service. To top it off, this establishment doesn't even have a liquor license so we couldn't even enjoy a margarita while we waited so long for our appetizers and food. Yeah I won't be returning.

This place is pretty good and very authentic. I like the reasonable prices and large portions of food. They are not stingy with anything! The guacamole is delicious and fresh. I also was a big fan of the queso and cheese pupusa . The staff is nice. It wasn't busy on the day I went, so not much of a wait. I would like to try their drinks next time, I bet they're pretty decent.

I found myself close to Fonda La Taquiza at lunch time today, and stopped to check it out. Before going in, I looked to see if they were on Yelp so I could check out the reviews, but they had not been listed yet. I decided to take a chance and check them out anyway. When I first walked in the door, the place was a bit under-whelming... the décor could certainly use some updating - especially the carpet because it was in terrible shape (run-down and taped in several spots.) Also, the carpet was not as clean as I would have liked to have seen, but I decided to overlook that and give the food a try. So, when I got the menu, I saw a good selection of options but decided to just go with a chicken burrito. While waiting for my order, my server brought out chips and salsa. I really liked the salsa - it tasted fresh and had just enough spice & good flavor. The chips were fairly thick, but nice and warm. It did not take long for my lunch order to come out, and I dug into in the burrito right away. It was filled with rice and pulled chicken. The lettuce, tomato, avocado, and sour cream came on the side... and I asked for more salsa to go with it since the little bowl of salsa that was originally brought to the table was so tiny. I was impressed with the burrito - it had good flavor and was packed with lots of chicken. In fact, I could not eat the whole burrito, but I did dig all the chicken out and eat it since it was so tasty. I am not normally a soda drinker, but because they have the Mexican sodas which are made with real sugar, I splurged and got the pineapple one. It was very tasty. While looking at the menu, I had thought about ordering some churros - but after my meal, I was too full. Shame because they were probably tasty as well. The meal including my drink was right at $9.50 so this place is quite affordable. (I think the burrito was $7 or $7.50 before tax). Bottom line, I would not come out the of the way to eat here, but if I found myself to be close-by at lunch or dinner time, I would stop back in to give them another try. My food and service was good, and I would have given them higher marks, but they really need to do a better job vacuuming the carpet before lunch/dinner so that the place looks a little cleaner.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.
