Nice sized parking lot and is easily located right off of Independence Blvd. We were greeted and seated immediately by a little cactus garden with some cute figurines like the Spongebob Pineapple. I thought it was cute. There is also a fish tank inside. The Interior is pleasant, with exposed ductwork ceilings, but painted beige so it didn't feel too dark in there. The chips and salsa served complimentarily were some of the best I've had. I loved the flavor of the salsa and the little bits of onion and cilantro floating in the soupy tomato liquid. Cheese dip is a natural appetizer and this one was so good! Creamy and a huge portion. Our dinners were yummy and we all 3 had to have go boxes. So much food. I got Tacos al Carbon with Chicken. They reminded me of an enchilada in taco form. I really didn't care for the flabby tortillas, so next time I'll try something else. The flavor of the chicken was delicious though. We sampled 2 desserts to share: the Apple tart and the churros. Apple tart was just ok, but the churros were perfection! Crunchy and sweet on the outside and soft and chewing on the inside. Fajita nachos - I always prefer the flavoring and cuts on fajita meat over shredded or ground, seems to be higher quality also. Sopa de Tortilla - not my favorite in town. It's large, but it doesn't have as much flavor as I'd like. It's also on the greasy side. Carne Asada - good flavor, very simple dish. If you're in the mood for juicy beef its our go to. Pollo Asado - staple chicken dish, again good flavors and balanced dish. Definitely recommend if you're a poultry person. Enchiladas are also good. Had a chance to check out this under-the-radar Mexican restaurant on the east side of Charlotte. From what I hear, Las Margaritas has a loyal following around the Charlotte area. Here's everything you need to know from the Las to the Margaritas.... Parking: As Las Margaritas is located in a quaint shopping plaza right off Independence Blvd, there shouldn't be any issues at all with parking. Ambiance: Upon walking in, it's hard not to be struck by the somewhat outdated/old-school vibe of the place. There's a few authentic Mexican-style decorations on the walls scattered around the walls. It wasn't crowded at all, as I was able to walk right in and sit anywhere I wanted. Food: I ordered the guac as an app - which was served cold, good, not great, and need a dash or two of salt. Pro Tip: If your guac is served cold, it's NOT freshly made. Freshly made guac is always served at room temperature - doesn't have time to get cold. For my entree I ordered the Burrito Ranchero. It came to the table served piping hot, and covered in melted cheeses, guac and sour cream. We are talkin one giant burrito here! (That's what she said - lol). Burrito was stuffed full of steak, peppers and onions, all with rice and beans on the side. As far as portion size - you def get moneys worth at Las Margaritas. Service: Service was excellent. I was presented with chips and salsa the moment I sat down. Waitress came and immediately took my order, and I had everything I needed exactly when I needed it. I wish I could give Las Margaritas more than three stars but the food though good, wasn't exceptional. My virgin dining experience was certainly enjoyable enough that I'll be back. The salsa was pretty tasteless, added cheese sauce which was fair with minimal taste and green sauce which was my favorite. I had the cheese enchiladas. I like to taste spices/peppers and have a kick to it. There was none of that just bland food. I ask for flower tortillas and they obviously were not home made and tasted store bought. This is a place you come with your girls when you are ready to drink. They are known for their margarita flights and towers. I came here and was too scared to tackle the margarita tower lol. The restaurant is pretty huge and decently cleaned. I wish they would of swept under our table before seating us bc there was food and used silverware underneath. As soon as we sat down our waitress came by and asked us did we know what we wanted. She did that twice, we has to tell her to hold on and give us a chance to view the menu. My wife and I had the fajitas and they were cooked in a really healthy way but yet adding great flavor. My wife actually commented that her shrimp fajitas had some of the best shrimp she'd ever had. My kids, who are usually pretty picky and are turning into mini-foodies devoured their entrees. Oh, the chips were warm and fresh. Nice thicker chips than most with a good flavorful salsa. Our server was attentive, precise, and friendly. The soft drinks come in large 32oz cups and they'll set you back about $3 each. Only downside was the bathrooms were not so great. I was so surprised when the check came, they even gave you a little mint and a tiny dessert which to me was going over the top food was authentic Texas style, Mexican, and everyone on the staff was super polite and friendly multiple members visited our table throughout the night, I highly recommend this place not sure why there's not a huge line out the door.
