We started with the salsa which was super fresh, the. had the barbacoa and shrimp tacos, and a chimichanga dish. All were delicious and the service was amazing. Very authentic. We really enjoyed it.

Unprofessional waitress. Did not refill or check on how we were doing. Claimed we wanted beef but clearly told her chicken. She had an attitude and told her boss in front of us that she heard us say steak. Come on now, one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a Mexican restaurant and trust me I've been to many of them. Did not offer refills for drinks or chips at any point or check on how we were doing during our entire interaction. Worst experience and we've been coming here for years. Came here for Sunday menudo and left unsatisfied and barely touched my food. There are a dozen of other mexican restaurants in a 5 mile radius that offer a better experience and show maturity to their patrons. I understand espanol and worked in service before so please have some maturity. It's not like we asked for something out of this pocket. My girlfriend is literally allergic to beef and would never ask for carne

Stopped here for lunch on a whim. Small entrance that opens up to a nice sized sitting area and bar. Prices are very reasonable. We had 6 asada tacos,4 flautas plate, horchata, queso, and another drink for $32. Food was cooked quick even with them being busy. They played current popular Mexican music which was enjoyable. Bar has two large tvs and at this time was showing novellas. Staff was nice. The salsa and salsa roja were a bit mild on the picante scale for me. Tacos had a good portion on meat. Flautas were good as well.

Peor experiencia de servicio al cliente en todo charlotte, la mesera con su actitud prepotente no quizo cambiar mi orden a pesar que fueron ellos los del error. Este restaurante queda descartado para mi completamente

Keep in mind their sign actually reads Taqueria Express. This is a tiny little taco stand carved out of Fruteria El Pueblo just west of Woodlands on Albemarle. Orders are placed at a window overlooking a stuffed, hot kitchen. Food is quick and simple. Menu's surprisingly large - lots of tacos, quesadillas, burritos - didn't seen any Salva-or-Ecuadorian influences on there. Language could be an issue if you no tengo un pequeno espanol. I have a thing for tortas, so that's what I got - and it was good. A little pricey (6.50 for huevos y queso) but easily one of the better ones I've had in CLT. Soft, sweet teleras, Monterey-Jacky cheese, shredded lettuce, some jalapenos. A mess to eat, but whatevs. This isn't the "IT" torta, but it's totally worth a stop.

The quality of food has declined since my last review. The grilled steak meat on my sons tacos were like thin slices of dried beef jerky. The watery mole sauce on my daughters enchiladas were heavily seasoned in cinnamon. I kindly asked the waitress before ordering this item to allow me to taste the sauces of their enchiladas to make sure they were up to par. My request was refused. That is the first time this has happened to me and I should have known to get up and eat elsewhere. My pozole was a bowl of red grease with overly soaked mushy hominy beans and small chunks of what might be pork. Might have been passable as some unknown stew but this was not an authentic pozole. It was served with two bean tostadas garnished with waterlogged romain lettuce shreds. I returned the enchiladas and requested a cheese quesadilla, which ended up being filled with yellow cheese instead of quesadilla, chihuahua, or mozzarella cheese. Overall, each of our meals were not palatable and could never pass as authentic flavorful Mexican dishes. Meats are definitely cheap cut and not fresh. After doling out $38 for food that was barely touched, I made sure to tip the waitress for at least being somewhat attentive. This place gets busy and seems to have a local following. The staff are busy hard at work keeping tables cleared and floors swept. However, the quality of their meats, vegetables, and food prep are very questionable. Their pricing is highway robbery. Attached are pictures to provide an idea of what I described above.

Every bite was full of flavor, and the portion size was more than worth it. Between the delicious food and Orhan's outstanding service, this was an excellent experience overall. With its subdued lighting, faded brick walls and tightly packed tables, it's the perfect spot to escape with a bottle of tequila on a rainy Friday night. But if your circumstances aren't quite so desperate, Que Onda is also a great destination for an intimate date night or an evening with friends. On a recent visit, my wife and I started with a bowl of chips and queso, accompanied by a pair of oversized house margaritas. When I complained to our server about my drink's disappointing lack of kick, he took it off the bill and recommended the far superior Patron Cadillac Margarita, which improved my mood in a hurry. For dinner, I dove into a delicious taco combo platter of steak, carnitas and baja fish, while my wive enjoyed a tasty Taco Salad. Service was outstanding throughout our meal, the prices were reasonable, and the ambiance superb. Well worth a visit if you're looking for solid Mexican food and margaritas in Charlotte.

I fell in love with Superica when I first moved to Charlotte nearly three years ago, and it quickly…read morebecame one of my go-to spots for reliable, flavorful Tex-Mex. But I have to start with a small heartbreak: my beloved puffy taco is gone. I grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where the puffy taco was created, and it's deeply nostalgic for me. It's not a sope, not a tostada--it's a true puffy taco, light, airy, and unlike anything else. For a long time, Superica made one that came remarkably close to what I grew up with. Unfortunately, after changes in leadership and kitchen management, it quietly disappeared from the menu. That was a real disappointment. That said, I still come back--because the food here is consistently good. The crispy tacos with picadillo are my current favorite. Picadillo (P-I-C-A-D-I-L-L-O) is a traditional Latin dish with many regional variations, and this version reminds me of the one my grandmother used to make in San Antonio. The portions are generous, the flavors are balanced, and the menu offers something for everyone--from enchiladas and chile rellenos to steaks and fresh tableside guacamole. Speaking of guacamole, I'm a purist. I like it simple: avocado, jalapeño, cilantro, lime, garlic--chunky and clean. Superica delivers on that. The chips and salsa are bottomless, the salsa has great depth of flavor, and for those who like heat, they offer a tiny dropper of hot sauce that is smoky, bold, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. The ginger margarita is another standout. It comes with a generous piece of crystallized ginger and has a bright, balanced flavor that makes it easy to order a second one. And if you have room for dessert, do not skip the tres leches cake--rich, decadent, and a perfect way to end the meal. I also appreciate the little touches here: * Friendly, knowledgeable waitstaff * A lively bar area that's great for happy hour * A beautiful outdoor patio that makes al fresco dining feel special * And a fun tradition of sending you home with a packaged Texas praline This South End location is my personal favorite. It feels more adult and relaxed, while the Strawberry Hill location tends to be more family-heavy. Both are good, but the vibe here suits me better. Yes, prices have crept up a bit--as they have everywhere--but the quality, consistency, and atmosphere keep me coming back. And as someone who travels frequently for work across multiple states, I appreciate that Superica maintains a dependable standard wherever I encounter it. Bottom line: Even without the puffy taco, Superica remains one of my favorite Tex-Mex spots in Charlotte. Come hungry, bring friends, share plates--and as always, travel safe and eat well.
