Its a narrow space with about 6 two-tops and 14 counter spaces but the staff/owners? do a swift business and get you in and out quickly. Great local diner food. They have some unique mash ups like the "kitchen sink." Surprisingly everything turned out great, even as to go orders. There wasn't much seats or standing/waiting area. Old school diner. Good traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, wheat toast, hash browns, and sausages. And coffee. All were excellent except the sausages. Don't expect crepes or quiche here, or worry about fat, salt or sugar and you'll be satisfied. Service was fast. The place seems to stay busy. Lots of car repair shops nearby. Lots of faded photos of breakfasts they serve on the walls. Also a poster of MLK, Jr and Malcolm X shaking hands. I really love this place. Fong's is my go-to place anytime I need something good and comforty. It always felt like home. The workers are friendly and warm. The food is great--especially for breakfast options (my favs were always grits and hot links). I think it really says something that this restaurant has been around for so long and has stayed consistent. I was a first timer just days ago and I must say I was very pleased. Greeted by polite staff, quick & efficient service and the food was on point. I had the 6 Shrimp w/ scrambled cheese eggs (green onions, I held off on the mushrooms), white rice topped w/ butter, white toast, jelly on the side & a small orange juice. This place is a classic greasy, buttery, delicious breakfast spot. I've eaten at Fongs around 30 times and it's always the same. They have good pancakes, eggs and chicken apple sausage. The French toast is good, the hash browns are good, and the grits are good. The service is quick and friendly. The tables are for 2 only and the bar is open seating. There's never really a wait but it's always busy. I could give this place 5 stars butt its really small and i can't bring my kids lol. read more

But just like the rock says, "it doesn't matter'" and that is quite relevant with the food here it simply doesn't matter what you order it's going to be good. Look past the decor (or lack there of) and look past the neighborhood. This place is wonderful. The ladies behind the counter are extremely busy with filling call in or to go orders, they are not rude, they are just busy as hell. We sat at the very old formica counter, I had the links and waffles and two glasses of cranberry juice and my husband had the largest and fluffiest pancakes I've ever seen with bacon, scrambled eggs and cooked to perfection hash browns. This was my first time trying out this place since it's close to my house. From the moment we walked in the service was horrible. We sat down and placed an to go order I ordered the pork chop meal my husband ordered the same with a side of French toast and cup of coffee. The menu said 10.50 but we were charged 12.00. No biggie. My husband asked for some cream and she completely ignored him so he asked her again and the same thing. Another waiter ended up bringing us cream. While waiting to get our food she was cleaning off the table top when done she threw the dish rag in the sink and in turn the water splashed onto a guys food sitting next to us she acted like nothing happened and walked away. Once we got our food my husband asked for a extra syrup and her rude response was that she already put two in the bag, she the through the extra syrup across the table, and to top it off there was no syrup in the bag just the 1 he asked for. If you're a person like me spending money for your service I don't recommend it the food is not worth the horrible service, guess I'll just keep making my trip to lakeshore cafe. read more
