    Beer taps

If you're from out of town and you want to try something local (not a chain) then definitely give Fontana's a shot. It's off the main drag and has been around for most of the 50 years I've lived in the area. All the food is good, and the portions are healthy...you won't leave hungry. Recently had both the filet mignon burger and the Italian hoagie...both were very good. It's small. Half of it is taken up by a good sized bar, but they have a side dining rooM that seats about 30. Wait staff is all courteous and friendly. Great experience all the way around. If you've read any of my other posts, you know I'm all about the beer, and Fontana's delivers there too. Really good selection of craft beers on tap including some from truly local breweries to go along with the more well known craft breweries. If you're from the area and have never tried Fontana's, you're missing out. If you're from out of town, definitely skip Applebees and try Fontana's instead. You won't be disappointed.

    Go for it!

I enjoy listening to live music. I especially enjoy listening to live music during those cold, dreary winter nights when nothing else seems to be the cure. I recently discovered that Fontana's not only serves up an array of decent food, and drinks, but they feature some fine musical talent on scheduled Friday nights. The combination of great sounds mixed with tasteful food, satisfying drinks, and a fun atmosphere certainly works for me when looking for a bonus evening with friends. I grew up in the area, and remember dining here as far back as high school, so I often encounter friends I havent seen in awhile. I really like the fact that you can carry on a decent conversation while enjoying the musical guest. The bar area gets exceptionally crowded and seating is limited but there is an adjoining dining room that is within ear shot of the music. Lots of good options for food and fun. The bartenders are a great addition to the evenings festivities. Be sure to try their seasonal sangria to get the party started.

Service outstanding. Food is very good. Always a nice time. It's a bar and a small restaurant, it's your hometown pub.

Filet mignon and Pinot Noir were perfect! They made room for us despite us not having reservations.

Local pub with decent Italian food. Jump in and soak up the local vibe. Music once in awhile provides more attraction to this cute pub.

First time here. Typical bar food. The cost for a sandwich was about $12 each. The service was good.

It is not just a menu item here, it is the star of the show. Everything tastes like it was made from scratch that day, because it probably was. I had the house made fettuccine and it was on another level. Perfect texture, rich sauce, and portions that actually leave you satisfied. Even the bread and appetizers felt elevated, not like an afterthought. The atmosphere hits that sweet spot too. Upscale without feeling stuffy. Great for a date night or just treating yourself to a quality meal. Service was sharp, attentive, and knew the menu inside and out. If you are looking for authentic Italian that does not cut corners, this is one of those places you keep coming back to.

I really enjoy that the pasta is fresh and the menu isn't 40 pages long. It's straight to the point and you know what you're getting based on what is listed under the pasta shape. My short rib ricotta gnocchi was good but I do wish it had a bit more salt to bring more of the flavor to the front. The gnocchi texture was perfect and pillowy. The short rib mixed in nicely with all of the pasta and the sauce. My spouse enjoyed the cannelloni, which was pretty much their lasagna but also wanted a bit more salt. Our server was very nice and walked us through the menu options as well as told us about the seafood special for the night. The bread came out first and was delicious. The salad was also good and I don't usually like arugula. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and I enjoy that they take the time to do that. The space is very cute and you can't really miss it even with it being in an executive building. It's a smaller area but it can seat a good amount of people. We noticed they had a pasta making class so maybe next time we're in town, we can do it. The red sangria had a great balance where it wasn't too sweet. We didn't do dessert but we did enjoy the digestif at the end with limoncello and my spouse ate the amaretti cookies as I couldn't.

It had been a long time since I got pizza there (pepperoni) and remember it being so good, I didn't feel guilty just ordering the Alfredo pizza. It did not disappoint! The fresh bread and dipping oil is sooo good. I've had the manicotti and lasagna before but wasn't in the mood for marinara today. I will definitely take my Italian family here next time they visit. The food was seriously nothing to come back for. I got the pasta Rosa, and it was seriously just pasta and sauce. Nothing else. Which would have been fine as a side but I was expecting it to be phenomenal in order for it to stand on its own as an entire dinner entree. My husband got the restaurants "favorite" - the pasta amato...he said it lacked flavor and the chicken wasn't seasoned at all. He did like the peas as an addition in the pasta though. Ugh and the tiramisu--gosh, I am so sick of restaurants thinking they're making tiramisu and they are not. Stop false advertising!!! It was a wetter vanilla cake with a hint of alcohol-- not worth it. Needless to say, We won't be coming back. I don't understand how this place has such high of a rating to be honest. It's like people in Westmoreland county have never had superb Italian food, meanwhile you could throw a rock and hit a pasta joint on any corner. I'm giving it a 2 because it was edible.

The interior has an overall modern feel and tables are well spaced out so you don't feel overcrowded. Portions are generally really large (which is great, because food is pretty pricey). I've been able to make two or three meals out of one entree here. Overall, service is pretty good but can be hit or miss. There was one day that I think they must have been having an off night because everyone seemed crazy stressed and very short with us when questions were asked. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the side salad was. It was a great balance/mix of ingredients with delicious dressing. My main entree (Strozzapretti) was tasty but a bit seemed like there was a bit too much grease/oil or something that made the dish seem heavier than it needed to be. In general, a tasty place but could improve if service was more consistent.
