The menu for a bar is wierd. Filet mignon.....why...not the type of place for that. In general prices are way way above usual for such an ordinary place. Adding a steak to a salad was $8 and the steak was finely chopped to hide its quality. So a salad with steak cost me $20! Absolutely wrong! The salad is big in size but low on quality and variety. No cherry tomatoes, no onions, no peppers very few carrots. The ranch dressing was lacking in taste and very, very thin. The salad contains mostly pieces with the ribs through the center. Not the highest quality at all. Only one variety of lettuce. The menu is not very big and it lacks variety of choices and enhancements. I probably would not recommend this to a friend and probably won't return. It is still the same basic place It was 40 years ago. It will not give you warm and fuzzy feelings....it is a bar with a small side area. There's way too much competition in North Huntington to consider this a valid choice for the little it offers. Nothing here causes it to rise beyond average. read more

Fontana's is a reliable choice when in the area. There is a big variety of italian food to choose from. I have enjoyed the buffalo chicken wraps, fajita wraps, fried zucchini, and whatever they have on special. They have a great draft list as well as live music on weekends! The service is friendly and they do take reservations. Its a great spot to catch up with friends and family! read more

If you're from out of town and you want to try something local (not a chain) then definitely give Fontana's a shot. It's off the main drag and has been around for most of the 50 years I've lived in the area. All the food is good, and the portions are healthy...you won't leave hungry. Recently had both the filet mignon burger and the Italian hoagie...both were very good. It's small. Half of it is taken up by a good sized bar, but they have a side dining rooM that seats about 30. Wait staff is all courteous and friendly. Great experience all the way around. If you've read any of my other posts, you know I'm all about the beer, and Fontana's delivers there too. Really good selection of craft beers on tap including some from truly local breweries to go along with the more well known craft breweries. If you're from the area and have never tried Fontana's, you're missing out. If you're from out of town, definitely skip Applebees and try Fontana's instead. You won't be disappointed. read more

Worth it. Took some time to get the food out and the server was probably a bigger prick than the crown of thorns on Jesus head but the food was worth it. The inside is really loud too and people love to scream. Some people can't control their azzhole kids but the food was worth the price and it was delicious. read more

What a GEM of a place! As embarrassing as it is to admit, I have driven past this place for so many years and just haven't made it a point to stop. I remember visiting with my parents many, many years ago - but haven't been in 10+ years. We visited last night on a whim and boy was it a peasant surprise. For a weekday night the place was PACKED. We opted to sit at the bar - and were quickly waited on by the bartender. I ordered the Bacon Bleu Pizza - *chefs kiss* it was SO good. It was a perfect blend of flavors and just totally delicious. I saw others ordering pizza and they all looked good. Brad ordered wings - which were crispy and delicious. We have been looking for a new spot for wings and will definitely be coming back in the near future. I enjoy listening to live music. I especially enjoy listening to live music during those cold,dreary winter nights when nothing else seems to be the cure. I recently discovered that Fontana's not only serves up an array of decent food, and drinks, but they feature some fine musical talent on scheduled Friday nights. The combination of great sounds mixed with tasteful food, satisfying drinks, and a fun atmosphere certainly works for me when looking for a bonus evening with friends. I grew up in the area, and remember dining here as far back as high school, so I often encounter friends I havent seen in awhile. I really like the fact that you can carry on a decent conversation while enjoying the musical guest. The bar area gets exceptionally crowded and seating is limited but there is an adjoining dining room that is within ear shot of the music. Lots of good options for food and fun. The bartenders are a great addition to the evenings festivities. Be sure to try their seasonal sangria to get the party started. read more

This cafe is amazing and worth exiting the PA Turnpike for! Hungry and not thrilled by rest-stop fast food, after reading the other reviews we decided to get off the Turnpike and give Fontana's a shot. Highly recommend the Fontana Peppers appetizer...I think that was the name. Sautéed peppers broiled with a light crust of cheese. Fantastic! House salad was the perfect size for me (loved the blue cheese dressing) and my husband enjoyed his bacon and turkey sandwich. I'm sad we don't live closer--the menu is extensive and I'd have loved to try more of it. Fancy and glitzy, it's not, but don't let that fool you--the food is fresh, there are healthy options, and portions are generous. Can't wait to pass through here on a future road trip. read more

Had a wonderful meal here over the past weekend. French cut pork chop with mashed potatoes and buttery green beans. It was truly the best meal I've had in a restaurant for quite some time! It was obvious to me the chef loves what he does because you could taste it in the food! Fontana's owners need to do whatever they can to keep this employee.....a gem! Thank you! The most surprising visit I have ever had to a restaurant. I have lived 3 minutes away from this place for the last 10 years and never knew it existed. How strange is it to find your favorite local place from a man on Yelp that lives in South Dakota. I had the prosciutto goat cheese salad which was by far the most amazing salad I have ever had. I also had the most delicious bloody Mary ever. It was so good I had to ask what they used. They add a little bit of their wing sauce, which made it have a touch of sweetness with just the right amount of spice. Seriously the best Bloody Mary. The only way I could think to describe it was comparable to a very expensive bottle of wine that hits you in all the right places. Alyssa was our waitress who was very nice, helpful and attentive. She gave great advice on what to eat. I was so surprised by the food that I asked if they have cooks or chefs. Alyssa explained that the son of the owners is an actual chef. That made so much sense after tasting this food. If you are local and you haven't been there you need to go asap. I will be there weekly from now on just to eat that salad and drink that Bloody Mary. The food was okay but definitely overpriced. The salad was drenched in dressing and the pasta swimming in an overly sweet red gravy. Had to send the entree back because the food was cold. The room was decidedly downscale (not family homey, but bright, and cheap). The menu says the entree came with soup or salad. When we asked what the salad choices were, the server mentioned the Caesar, which we ordered. The croutons were hard and there was way too much dressing. When we got the bill, we were charged $6 apiece for the salads (the Caesar is listed at $8 on the menu, whereas the house salad is priced at $6). We asked why we were being charged for the Caesar when we were led to believe that it was a salad choice, we were told that it was an "upcharge". This made no sense. If the $6 house salad was included, the upcharge for an $8 Caesar should have been $2. The server said she could not adjust the bill (and then offered to pay for it herself). Don't understand why no manager came over to explain. We did not take the server up on her offer, but left feeling ripped off. I live in the area, and I will never return to this place. Don't like being chiseled and cheated. Not worth the price. Not worth the time. Not worth the short drive. If you pass by Fontana's cafe. Keep going. read more

Stopped to charge our Tesla and walked the 5 min to Fontanas. Best decision we've made in the 3 years charging our car. Hometown pub feel, great atmosphere, the bartender was incredible (usually works on Thursdays and Fridays), enormous selection of draft beers for a small place, and the food was 10/10. Went on Friday for entertainment and snacks with friends. First, our reservation was totally wrong, second wanted only chips for snacks, were so over cooked they were hard to chew. Second, restrooms were filthy.....Ladies had almost no toilet tissue and a huge missing tile at the doorway....Men's was filthy, with wet floors and dirty papertowels all over the place... The bright spot was the entertainment, the reason we always go there and last night was fantastic. would ONLY go for the entertainment, Since new owners have taken over (2 months) the place had gone downhill rapidly. read more

Some standard service industry languange should be shared around so Fontana's seems welcoming to all potential friends and spenders. "The reservation for these two tables has arrived would you mind..." rather "Please have a seat here, we have a reservation for this table in an hour, we can seat you elseware if you'll be joining is for a while." I first went to Fontana's 2 yrs ago with my daughter for lunch upon her suggestion, and loved it!! Had the pear apple salad with salmon and it was so fabulous I thought about it many times after and wanted to go back specifically for that... Flash forward 2 yrs, went there 10/14/23, not so fabulous!! Very dismayed that they took off the menu some of the items we were wanting to order... I ordered the same salad upon my original visit. No pears?!?! Tuna seemed deep fried and dry, the dressing maple blackberry, not the same at all!! I heard they changed ownership and now I understand why the meal was edible but nowhere near fabulous!! This is a common huge mistake I've seen other new ownership make and all I can say is shame on you and not very smart!! You were handed a gem and are exchanging it for a synthetic cookie cutter fake stone!!! The service was horrible, rude waitress that seemed to sit down more than she stood, it's sad that such a great restaurant fell into hands that want to give you bar food, like every other dive restaurant, and don't realize that people actually want to eat something good for their bodies not garbage! It's a sad day... won't be going back or suggesting anyone I know to go!! Missing the mark!! Two stars at best!! read more

We love fontanas, the prosciutto & goat cheese salad with basil walnut dressing is easily the best salad i've ever had. Definitely stop if you're in the area! They have a nice selection of draft beers, as well as a nice selection of liquor. They also have karaoke nights. read more

I've only been here maybe two times and I've enjoyed my food and the entertainment. This place is one of the very few non chain establishments in the area to have entertainment, alcohol, and good food. The only thing that would make me inclined to come her more frequently would be to use social media more. The last time I looked on your facebook account for events I couldn't find anything. This place was great. The Fontana's peppers appetizer is delicious. Unlike most places, the pasta was cooked correctly and not overcooked. The vinaigrette was just the right amount of tangy and garlic. The torte beer on tap was good if surprisingly sweet so maybe save that for dessert. read more

This is a great place for lunch or dinner. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that they changed the way they make the steak sandwich. It was too salty and too much Worcestershire sauce. The last time I had it - it was a piece of steak and not shaved. I LOVED the New England clam chowder and my husbands burger was great. We will be back! I'll just try something different!! read more

Have been coming here for years. They have some great sandwiches and entrees. My husband loves when they have the red snapper. My favorite go-to is the crab cake sandwich with a side salad and balsamic dressing. Also have great fish sandwiches...perfect for Lent. Pros: Food is delicious, never had a bad meal. Staff is friendly, never any issues. Great little place! Cons: If you've never been to Fontana's or are not from the area, you may not be expecting the higher prices. Fontana's is a bar, yes. But the food is not typical bar food and is can get a little pricey. Also, there is a typical bar area on one side and more of a small dining room on the other. If you want to be sure to get a table at dinnertime, it's best to make a reservation. read more
