Tucson has a lot of small carnicerias and shops to purchase delicious goodies like fresh tortillas, carne asada, candy, fresh baked goods, etc, so I personally go to the smaller shops to find the best quality in terms of those items. Food City is great finding great deals on produce and ingredients/spices for home cooked Mexican food. They really do carry a almost anything you'll need! There are various Food City stores in Tucson. This one is not particularly my favorite. It gets quite busy, the parking lot gets really full, making for a bit of stressful shopping experience with COVID19. They do have safety measures in place such as 6ft distancing markers on the floors and all employees wear masks. I did not see any other safety measures that are above and beyond, such as cart and basket disinfecting stations.

a birthday cake in a box

2 stars for effort... I guess. I ordered a cake for a kids birthday a month before the party. The day before the party someone from the Food City bakery calls to tell me the topper to the cake never came. They continue to tell me that I can have something written on the cake instead. That was their only solution to fix a $40 cake. So I requested to get my kids name thinking it was going to be something extravagant to make up for not ordering the topper with a month's notice. This is unsatisfactory to say the least! I used to refer a lot people to order cake from here, raving about how spectacular they come out out. I am no longer ordering cake or referring anyone. In fact I'm going to tell people to never buy cakes from here!

On a budget this is the place to spend that money you allowed for food and a little slurp. You can't beat these prices and they have something for everyone and every occasion. To add to the appeal everyone in the place was friendly and seemed happy to help. What's lacking you ask? Well if you are looking for organic and super clean food probably not the store for you

we loved the food, i just feel like i needed a little more lime lol

The carne asada is a hit or miss. The meat can be chewy sometimes. I'd still recommend the grocery store

Some Food City's are great, just not this one. This one sucks! This is the worst Food City I've had the misfortune of entering.

The worst customer service and terrible food quality. The manager and employees were rude and disrespectful. I will never shop here again.

They still have the pizza take out bar with a variety of toppings. They have some items or brands you won't find in other places but may not have brands you get elsewhere. It's nice to discover some new things you haven't tried before. The bakery has some tempting things to look at. The store is large with wide enough aisles so you can browse easily. Prices are a little higher than other places but some things may be worth it. The parking is limited only because of all the other businesses in the area. I'll go back and look around again. I can usually find something I want to try.

Walk straight into the fruit and produce area and then I wind my way around usually picking up items. I didn't plan on buying like chocolate bars and popcorn. But the store often feels manageable and not overly crowded. The parking lot also is not as chaotic as the one on Oracle and ina. Fruit always looks pretty good as do the vegetables and avocados which I shop a lot for. They could really step their game up in the florals department. Then it would almost a one stop shop for me!

I guess you have to be a little bit crazy to want to do customer service work and to do it well because the shoppers at the Wilmot location have been known to be grumpy, hung-over, rich people from the Sabino Canyon foothills area."

They add features, cute trade names, and try to develop cults around products to boost sales. While it's not a bad idea to boost sales, the basics have to be right. I have to choose this locale, where I went Wednesday, to moan about the severe hike in prices, short cycle of products, and the drift from doing the basics correctly. TJ used to march to a different drummer. House brands with quality for household staples, often with an international flavor and source. There is still a wide variety of decent international staples, but it's highly focused on cult products and flavorings. Prepackaged and ultra-processed foods are becoming standard(s). Protein is down, carbs are up. There's still a reasonable variety of veggies, fresh, but not in wide abundance. Certain common items, like walnuts, go missing for long periods of time, and other items become seasonable and their shelf space is unreliable. So while it's still good, there is now wade through the weeds of products that are edge-case. Hail Mary Marketing attempts. I bristle.
