I dropped in here and bought just three items: a pie de limon ($3.29), basically a slice of pie stuffed into a plastic cup; a bag of roasted chiles ($4.99/lb); and a pineapple pastry ($1.59). I like those items, but on the minus side their corn chips are too expensive and they don't sell whole-wheat tortillas. For some people this may be a great place, but for me there are only a handful of things they sell that I want (mostly the roasted chiles in a baggie). SInce my last visit in January, the kitchen part of the place has been remodeled or at least reorganized. Menu changes (seems like downgrades) and possibly less staff. Anyway, ordered a tamale plate for bkfst - the store sells 6-packs of tamales, which are decent, but the cook two out of a bag and put them on the grill to reheat, in the husk. Result - dried out. Beans were barely warm. Rice not memorable at all. Brother got huevos rancheros and said just ok. Unfortunately no longer worth the drive for me, as I can get my favorite tortillas at another market closer. read more

Decided to take a peak and wow there's a Cocina and large spacious dining booths with bar seating for a quick bite, perfect! Carne Asada Torta 6/10 tasted just like a cheeseburger... sans pintos, What no beans? though a smattering of shredded lettuce and sprinkling of fine chopped tomatoes to round out a between the bun experience. Came with a picked carrot and jalapeno on side. Ask for the salsa, the red is very hot so Imma asking for mild next time haha. With a large menu including burros breakfast tacos would definitely try several times as the Torta didn't quite hit it for me, needed more toppings. Mr Clean would be smilin' at the cleanliness level, from the eating area to produce section and meat counter. I just want to say that this is an unexpected surprise! The shopping center at Flowing Wells and Prince is not the best, meaning it would be a place I would pass up. I went there when I was getting a haircut close by. It is amazingly clean and has an incredible meat counter. There's a lot of Mexican food and Jamaica flowers. The staff is friendly and helpful. They have prepared salsas and great tortillas. They also have a restaurant that pumps out amazing looking food. I have not eaten there yet, but it's always busy. I go about every 2 weeks. read more

If you ever shop here they have great choices for carne asadas, tortillas, Mexican dessert and they even have a restaurant section that is so good. The one and only Ranch Market down here went out of business, and I was really sad given how much I like a good carniceria. But El Herradero seems like it's been around for quite some time, and I can see why it's outlasted the competition! What I loved: The marinated meats for sale. The al pastor is absolutely perfect, and the chunks of *fresh* pineapple are more than welcome. The fajita chicken? I love tossing it into a sizzling pan, juicy red onions and all. There are many spices to choose from, so I can afford to be particular about only getting my favorite chipotles in adobo (La Morena, of course) and other seasonings and toppings for my dishes. I cook a lot! And while there's only little bit of produce, the entire place is pretty small so I'm more appreciative than disappointed. You may want to plan on veggie shopping elsewhere, but that won't deter me. Overall, this is a great grocery store for any level of cooking, and you can get everything you need here to make a myriad of Mexican dishes. I can't do *all* my shopping here, but it's worth every trip here. Herradero is the real deal! read more

Muy Bien!! How have I never been in here? I strolled through here this afternoon and came home with more than I intended. I was the only gringa which was slightly intimidating because my Spanglish is asi asi. Lol. But they were super helpful. I came home with 4 salsas, tortillas, topopo chips, cheese, carnitas, beans, and green chili's. Oh and did I mention that was all only for me?! . You can now call me Gorda. El Herradero is a Mexican grocery store that offers fresh veggies/fruits, a carniceria, hot foods (burritos, tamales, etc), and regular grocery items. The produce section was actually quite a bit smaller than I imagined. We went there with the intention of buying fresh nopales and Fresno chiles for some hot sauce we were making, but found no fresnos and only a small bag of cut-up nopales. Other than that, we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of foods available here. It was nice to get real tamales outside of the holiday season and they had an amazing selection of Mexican candies. Check this place out! read more

This grocery store/restaurant is a gem. They have a wide variety of Mexican ingredients. When you can't find something that you need for a recipe, they probably have it. The meat counter is large and displays high quality meats. Have yet to try the restaurant but it smelled scrumptious. read more

This El Herradero Supermarket is great. They have a large selection of meat, poultry and fish. The wait for such items can become long if you come during peak hours on the weekend but other than that, it's worth it. Their meat, poultry and fish may not appear to be the best bargain compared to El Super, Food City or any other supermarket but the QUALITY is uncomparable. The ground beef is amazing and the arrachera (skirt steak) for carne asadas has me drooling at my desk as I write this review. If you go and buy meat, poultry or fish on the weekend there is a gentleman outside that cooks it for you (with proof of purchase and tip) over the mesquite grill! *drooling* Definitely a plus!!! I had to take one star off because they have a restaurant and snack shop inside of the store that is often crowded. As a result, the back of the store becomes filled with people who are not always the friendliest nor polite to customers that are shopping. I do have to note that as a healthcare and education professional I love, LOVE, LOOOOVE that they have a pharmacy ATM at this location. read more

Can't express how much I love this place! Not only does the supermarket carry all your Mexican needs but their kitchen and bakery has endless options as well! Herradero is my go to when I need a specific Mexican ingredient because I know for sure they'll have it! From their kitchen I've tried their tacos, chile relleno and their huevos divorciados, everything is delicious but I really recommend their breakfast options, also their jamaica and horchata are phenomenal! I prefer getting the mix (beef and pork) kind, as it's not to fatty but still has great flavor. They have a great selection of meats that you can get, so many I won't try to list them. They also have everything you would ever need to make some home made tamales. There is a little restaurant in the shop as well, which I have not tried yet. I work in the same plaza as the market. They have 7 people working the hot food and it takes way tooo long to get food. It's so bad that people go to other places in the area to eat. This place was awesome! I came in on a whim when I was out with my Dad one Saturday. The place is completely spotless, the meat and cheese selection is amazing, and their pastries are the best outside of a Mexican bakery. If there's any Mexican cheese that you need, and can't find, this is the place to find it. We also tried the eatery that's in the back corner. I had the Caldo de Queso.
