A great quick-service kabob place only two minutes walking from the Greensboro metro stop! The owner was extremely kind and gave me some free soup while I waited--that was so nice! I also loved the unique pickles. I've never had a pickled Brussels sprout before, and I was blown away! The kabob plate was awesome. The Afghani influences were on full display. I came to Food Corner Kabob House on a Saturday afternoon. I had heard great things about this spot from a friend so I was excited to try. This restaurant shares a huge parking lot with multiple retailers so parking should not be an issue. My husband and I each ordered Boneless Chicken Kabob with Rice, Bread and Fried Spinach. The chicken was so juicy and full of flavor, bread came out steaming hot and fresh and the fried spinach was better than I thought it would be. I can see why my friend liked this spot so much. It took about 10 minutes after we put in our order for the food to come out, so be patient if it is a long wait... it is worth it! Luckily it was not super packed so we only had two customers waiting ahead of us. Overall the staff were friendly and polite and the food came out freshly made and secure in a takeout bag. It's been awhile since I have eaten here as I no longer live in the area. My friend wanted kabobs and I immediately recommended this place. As we decided to dine in, the staff gave us some free soup while we waited for our food. I ordered the Combo Kabob with beef and bone-in chicken. Not many Kabob spots offer bone-in chicken because it takes longer to cook. I got a side of chicken curry and chick peas. All of these items were as good as I remembered them to be. Yum! I was in Tyson's getting car service at one of the area's many dealerships. I took a little walk around and found this place. I saw a lot of people eating inside, so I thought I'd give it a try. Wow, I'm impressed. The meat is cooked right in front of you so you can see what a solid job they're doing. Prices are super reasonable and portions are large, especially when compared to downtown DC. The boneless chicken breast kabob is seasoned to near perfection! If you are gluten-free, they'll serve your food on a salad instead of on bread, and if you're low-carb they'll give you extra salad instead of rice. They have several side dish curries and I tried the perfectly tangy cauliflower one. What a find! It's a simple place so don't expect ambience, service, or environment. This was actually quite impressive! Personally, for the prices they charged, I got a fair meal, probably even a better one compared to what I would have gotten if I had went to Friends Kabob up the road. I think I found a new Persian restaurant to go to in the Tysons area! To play it safe, I got myself a chicken and whatever their equivalent of Koobideh is. It comes on a big piece of Afghan bread, along with rice and a side salad. They also give you chickpeas and some cucumber habanero sauce for dipping. Yum. Because I got there early, the owner was nice enough to give me a small sample of their Afghan soup. He warned me ahead of time that it would be spicy, but I was up to the challenge. It had some noodles and vegetables and spices but it was in fact really good and really easy to take down. It creates a little burn in the back of the throat, but nothing I could not handle. Onto the main course, the chicken was pretty bland. The only Persian restaurant I have been to that has done the chicken right has been Flame Kabob in Springfield *sigh*. Then I tried their Koobideh version. Really good! Nice spice and excellent flavor, and it was not skimpy! The rice was also good too! Not heavy on the butter and worked incredibly well with everything. I also liked the chickpeas (though again, not nearly as good as Flame Kabob), and their bread, which was fantastic. The perfect combination of crunchy and chewy. Their habanero sauce was fantastic. I really enjoyed the food overall and felt that the customer service was that of trying to get the word out and bring in business. This was worth a trip and I was happy to have gotten something positive out of it. I will return next time to try the lamb and maybe a gyro. read more

While we love food corner this location has missed the mark the last two times we've ordered from here. Last month we ordered by phone and our order was incomplete (missing an extra skewer of chicken) and while they offered to make it; I called ahead to avoid waiting in the store and waiting for the food. Today we ordered online and the food hadn't even been started when we arrived to pick it up (at the scheduled time). Good food and excellent presentation. After I ordered my lamb and beef kabobs, they provided me with this delicious soup while I was waiting. They just gave me a little sample but it was amazing and I probably would have gotten some had I not already ordered a large meal. I got a skewer each of the lamb and the beef chunks. I got eggplant for my side, the salad that comes with it and some rice as well as their delicious bread. The service was pretty good, although customers who came in after me were served their food quicker than mine. I took it to go and I couldn't wait to get home and eat the delicious food. It was worth waiting for and then some. I look forward to kind of some other food the next time I come back as they look like that. It's a nice specials. But the beef and the lamb were cooked. The eggplant was a nice size portion and tasted good. The salad, although I ordered it without dressing and came with dressing, it was fine and light and easy. The rice was good. Well flavored with some onions and some mint. There wasn't a huge ton of rice like there is at other kebab restaurants, but that was actually good because it was just the right amount of portion for a meal. I spent the morning shopping for my new apartment and was starving. This was the only restaurant in the parking lot. Popped in. First impressions - they specialize in Afghan food -The restaurant is authentic. The food choices looked wonderful but I settled on an Afghan lamb kabob with jasmine rice and curry chicken. It was served on a large fresh flat bread. I chose curry chicken as my side. Damn! This was good stuff! The bread was off the chart. The lamb and rice also very good. The chicken curry was a little spicy but also very good. My one criticism was that the tables weren't cleaned after people left. Cleanliness is more important than the food to me. The restaurant was clean but no one wiped down the tables while I was there. I live in the district but will be back with friends and family. Very good!! read more

A coworker brought me here a few years ago, raving about this place. I've been back a couple of times, and time and time again I've been pleased with the food and the service. This is a little joint in a strip mall off of Leesburg Pike, nestled between a nail salon and a Sprint store. It's not fancy, but it's clean and the food is always fresh for midday lunch. I almost always order the gyro in some form, either a sandwich or a platter. Portions are generous. The meat is very flavorful and the spicy sauce is delicious. Sometimes while I'm waiting, the cashier will offer me a sample of soup, too. I think this place is probably geared more toward meat eaters than not, although it is easy to minimize dairy-heavy dishes here. For under $10 for a fast and tasty meal, I'll definitely keep coming back. read more

Wendy's is across the parking lot so, I was ready to scurry over there if need be. I just wanted something fast and cheap since I had less than $10 in my pocket. I looked at the menu and instantly felt like I was wasting my time...but the kabob sandwiches caught my eye. I got in line to order my food. I asked the guy what was the popular sandwich. Not surprisingly the "Famous Gyro Sandwich" ($6.25) is what he recommended. - Sandwiches take about 10 minutes - No waiter service - All the unoccupied chairs and tables appeared dirty - No air conditioning (at least when I was there) and it was pretty warm - Outdoor seating available I was pleasantly surprised how it looked when I unwrapped, it and even more pleased with the taste. Large styrofoam plate piled high with meat and rice for $11, rung up wordlessly with a scowl, announced with one knuckle rap on the front window. Is that your cup of tea? Then the Food Corner Kabob House is your place. After ordering and standing around awkwardly for a while we finally sat at the metal table out front, studying the parked cars while enjoying the fine strip-mall sidewalk ambience. When the food was ready did they bring it out? They did not. Our oh-so-friendly cashier knocked on the glass to summon us back inside to pick up our cafeteria trays. My E-1 was a trinity of spinach (tasty but richly oily), meat sauce (chunks in red gravy), and a huge pile of rice smothering a few lamb chunks. Pretty good. Very filling. Quite reasonable at $11. Little plastic container of cucumber yogurt sauce -- guess this is the green sauce -- was solid. Watched them make nnan in the tandoor. But instead of being fresh soft and puffy, it was deeply browned and crispy outside, more like baguette. That was weird for something called "naan". Vegetarian rating: 4 stars for the dedicated veg menu which has a veggie kabob, assortment of veg with nan, or assortment of veg with rice.
