Food King is a small convenience store that also sells some sandwiches, salads and drinks. Food King is located on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. Their prices are average. During our stop today, we got an iced coffee and a Diet Coke. I really didn't expect the iced coffee to be very good. There aren't alot of places offering coffee on the Boardwalk. The kindest people work here. Their iced coffee is $3.99, and the hot coffee is $4.99. They accidentally charged me $4.99, I hadn't even noticed or said anything, they corrected it to $3.99. Unfortunately, it wasn't even worth that much. This coffee had no flavor of coffee at all. Oddly, it actually smelled and tasted like cardboard. Not that I consume cardboard, I've just opened a fair amount of boxes in my time to be familiar with the scent. This is a family owned business. They sell basic groceries and beer, wine, and other beverages and snacks. They also prepare fresh homemade sandwiches and salads. The front porch is lovely to enjoy the ocean views. They are open every day including weekends and holidays. It's much needed as the only grocery store in the immediate area. read more

This is a GREAT spot just set back from the beach, but with a full view and a little patio with small tables to enjoy it from. It is modest and unassuming. I remember this place from years back, and it was just a mini-mart. I don't know if it changed hands or they just re-did it, but in addition to the minimart stuff (dried goods groceries like cereal, sunblock, etc.) they now have some yummy food they prepare themselves. The couple who run it are very nice and professional. I love supporting small businesses like this one!!!! And omg you have to try the veggie bowl here! Really, really good hummus, lentils with rice (majadara), and fresh cucumber/tomato lettuce/olive salad all topped with a little shredded cheese and delicious dressing. And it's a nice size! The proprietress makes everything fresh for you. You have to wait a few minutes--gives you time to figure out what else you want, like a drink. And they have a wide selection of drinks in the refrigerated case. I was really happy to find several diet selections. They also have beer, etc. And they carry some amazing vegan gluten-free snacks I'd never seen before--Alyssa's Healthy Vegan Bites. I'm not eating vegan or gluten-free per se, but these taste amazing. I'm sure these must be sold elsewhere, but I've never noticed them anywhere. This is in an area of the Broadwalk where there are not any other places to eat, so it's convenient if you're taking a walk and want to stop, even just to buy a bottle of cold water. I just realized that there are only steps to get in at the front beach side. But I investigated and there is a ramp available in the back, accessible from liberty Street or whatever the street is on the southern side. I don't think there are any stairs from the broadwalk to the street to the ramp in the back of the building. read more

I'm 100% about great customer service & I find this place mehhh. I bought coffee here & sat down on the patio. Went next door to grab a slice of key lime pie to have with the cup & the view & before I had a chance to sit down and enjoy the coffee, the owner (or womxn in charge said they don't allow outside food own her patio.) I bitterly put the pie in my bag but wanted to pair it with my coffee. It's not my fault all you have is packaged foods & candy. And a single chocolate muffin that doesn't look appetizing. It's just one of those really annoying rules when you want to support the local businesses (like I didn't even realize the patios were majorly different) & they have silly rules. If the two businesses were collaborating with each other, it could actually bring in more customers. The owners at both establishments could work together. They have complementary things. People at a bar tend to need cigs & other random ish. The bar has a clean bathroom. Ugh... It's a 2, cause she wasn't a wench when telling me, but still annoying. It's a regular beachy corner store with all you need. Drank, towels, etc. Coffee with only wack cream and milk... nothing spectacular. What's more annoying is that people who didn't buy ANYTHING at all could sit and smoke their cigarettes on the patio. Extra wack. This place leaves an ocean salty taste in my mouth. Such an unassuming little market, that should proudly proclaim that they have the freshest and most delicious wraps, fruit, coffee and sandwiches on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk! This is a delightful family owned business, that wants to deliver great service and great food, during our 6 day stay in Hollywood, we grabbed our lunch there on three days. The owner uses the freshest ingredients and takes pride in what they deliver. Thank you both for helping make our time there outstanding! so we just came from a resort, where my husband and I bought our own food to cook to save a few bucks and we hand some left over bread. Since we were flying back to Philly in a few hours we decided to stop by a grocery store to get some meat and cheese to get rid of the bread and have a quick picnic at the beach. Food King was in route soooo we tried it out..... The owner was really nice, loved to be greeted with a smile. Annnnywho.... we bought a 1/2lb of turkey, cheese, mayo, chips and water... we figured we could fix up our sandwich really quick before heading to the beach and not have sand in our food, you know?...we used the table right outside his store and the owner comes out of nowhere to tell us to leave the premises because it doesn't look right for us to make sandwiches when he sell sandwiches?????????????????... I understand where he is coming from as a store owner but he didn't bother to understand where we were coming from the fact that we basically bought a whole sandwich he could've handle the issue a little better because we were paying customers, the way he spoke to us was like he didn't just see us a second ago, as if we were two bums chilling on his stools but that wasn't the case. Love this place! Super nice owners too. We were staying at the Marriott (no rental car) and found there weren't a lot of food options nearby on the north side of the boardwalk. I eat at this place every chance I get. The food is so delicious and the owners treat me like family. Everything is made fresh daily and it's always a great presentation. This place has some pretty standard sub-par, high-fructose corn syrup filled foods, and none of the groceries I ever buy. BUT, the owner is super nice and it does work in a pinch, which is all they're really going for. He carried my stroller down the stairs for me, how nice is that? With so many good places to eat on the broadwalk I'm surprised this place is still open. Extremely over priced. Always filled with bums and extremely unsanitary. I bought a stale muffin and a burnt cup of coffee once it cost 9.50! The husband and wife team are extremely rude and I wish the health inspector would shut down these cockroach sandwich servers. read more
