I've been wanting to buy one of those grocery store check out dividers, but the lady behind the counter keeps putting it back. Never much of a line at the self check out. Nice flowers. Produce only slightly better than Walmart. I like that they have minced lamb, but on the other hand the quality is not great, blood should not be pouring out, which it does every time. The meat is kind of roughly ground. No wild salmon or wild shrimp, only farmed stuff. read more

Overall this store does meet your basic shopping needs and service is good, but I was shocked to find masks are not required in the store. I felt it was an unsafe shopping experience. I hope this changes in the near future. I value my health and those around me over shopping. read more

The Food Lion on Hilltop in Oxford NC has gotten to where the service is not good at all. There is a lot of young people working here that seem to be standing around talking a lot or down the aisles hanging around talking or outside smoking! And the cashiers are not friendly at all and barely speak! I also see that the majority of young people working here are black. The only white people I have seen are old women , 1 white young man, and 1 white young lady. It seems to me that the correct ratio of Employees are being ignored! I used to really like shopping here but in the last month something has changed and the lazy young people working here need to be under different management. read more

I think we all know the differences between a Food Lion and a Harris Teeter by now. If you're looking for a large produce section, good beer/wine variety, artisan cheeses, etc. then this is not the place for you. But this store just opened a month ago and is the closest grocery store to me by far. So I'll definitely be here for the basics or a quick trip to get a necessity. It's a brand new store that anchors an equally new shopping center. There was plenty of parking. They did a good with the interior/exterior to make it nice. By Food Lion standards, it's pretty fancy. Nothing remarkable happened on my first visit tonight. The folks working there were friendly. There are a lot of hand-written price tags on the shelfs, that was a little odd. The dude at the deli was very helpful when I got my sliced turkey. I give it 3 stars only because Food Lion really needs to get with the times. They're woefully behind the trends of organic offerings and less-processed foods. So, as far as grocery stores go, Food Lion in general is not good compared to Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Trader Joe's, and even Harris Teeter. But this particular store is a good effort for the chain. read more

I never thought I would write a review on a Food Lion, but I haven't been eating out much and haven't written a review in a while for Yelp, so what the heck! Actually, this is probably the nicest Food Lion I have ever been to (Both on the outside and the inside.) That's not to say it's the nicest grocery store of any grocery store, just the nicest FL (In other words, not comparing to HT, WF, or TJ's). This store is pretty new and has an updated appearance with a broader array of selections than that of a typical Food Kitty. Hell, they even have a decent meat and seafood selection! (I typically wouldn't buy meat or seafood at a FL store). This store is sparkling clean, and the time I was there the store employees were actually helpful. An employee helped me out at the self checkout to get checked out quicker. I am not great with pricing items from store to store, but it seemed like they had a lot of sales and low prices like any Food Lion Store. If you are ever in Morrisville near Davis Drive, check out this store for your grocery shopping needs! read more

Customer service is lacking here. I've been shopping here since it's opened and I do like the locally-sourced food options you get at FL (Neeses's sausage, etc) that are similar to a Lowe's Foods, and the sales they have, cleanliness of store, and produce selection. But, I've gotta say I am not a fan of their customer service. I don't think I've ever had anyone SHOW me where something is in the store. Even if they don't appear to be busy or just standing at the front waiting for people to check out. It's odd, like they've been trained not to walk people around the store to help them locate an item? Today I bought several plants from the outside and the lady hand-scanned them in while the main checker scanned my other groceries. I paid for everything and I'm walking out of the store and the same lady comes to me telling me she forgot to scan in one of my $8 plants and asked me to come back inside so she could ring it in. It was her mistake and I thought it was weird that she didn't realize it at the time of checkout? I've never been approached to go back and pay for something a cashier forgot to scan after the point. There have been other issues over the years. Once one of my grocery bags broke as I was bringing in my groceries through my garage and a bottle of $13 wine shattered. I came back and explained it to the manager with the broken bottle of wine and she refused to replace it. I even showed her where the bag was faulty. I took it to the Maynard location and explained what happened and the manager there didn't even bat an eyelash and replaced it no problem. This location just seems to have issues with good customer service and inconsistency. read more

I've been to a Food Lion before when road tripping in a small town before, and I was not impressed. I had judged this Food Lion to be not nice, like the one I previously visited. I stepped inside to grab some cheap mouthwash from here, and I instantly liked it. This Food Lion has cheap prices like all Food Lions, but it is cleaner, better staffed, and well stocked. I will definitely be coming to more Food Lions now. On the outside, Food Lion looks just like any other grocery store. Nothing really special here. On the inside, this Food Lion looks really clean, organized, and managed well. Not only does it look like that, this Food Lion IS that. Because it was so organized, I could easily find everything I needed, fast. In and out really quick. Besides looking good, Food Lion has some CHEAP prices. When I went in today, there were tons of sale tags all over the place, and the prices were cheap for what they were. When you need brand-name items, come to Food Lion. The prices are pretty much half the price as Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, and Earth Fare. Great prices. Food Lion is also a real supermarket. It's got fresh produce, household items, and pantry items. All your needs are at Food Lion. The only problem I have with Food Lion's supermarket claim is that they need more organic produce. That dropped this review from 5 to 4 stars. I think eating healthy is extremely important, and Food Lion just doesn't have a lot of organic produce. Yes, that does sound like a silly way to drop a review down 1 star, but since I love organic produce, I will go to another supermarket just for organic produce. Lastly, Food Lion has great service. When I paid for my groceries, the lady at the cash register was nice and scanned items quickly. Fast service = my satisfaction. So, I was pretty satisfied when I left Food Lion. Thank you Food Lion for providing me this wonderful supermarket. I will be coming back! read more

I was excited when Food Lion opened to have a less-expensive grocery option that is still conveniently located. Of course, the prices can't be beat. The produce selection is better than other Food Lion's I've frequented. Initially the customer service was adequate, but I've been disappointed at how much it's deteriorated in recent months. I've had multiple unfortunate experiences with cashiers at this location. They never seem to have an attendant designated to staff the self-checkout station, which has caused me problems on numerous occasions. On the worst day, I hit the call button, waited almost 5 minutes for an attendant, then walked over to the customer service counter where 2 staff members were giggling over something on their cell phones. They were apparently inconvenienced by my interruption. Then one of them lambasted me for failing to put my produce on the scale prior to entering the item code (note: all other machines I've used ask you to weigh the item after). As a result of more self-checkout problems, I now use the regular cashiers. This has not improved my experiences any. Nevertheless, in the pursuit of better prices, I continue to go to Food Lion. Prices are great at this Food Lion and usually good customer service at the checkout unlike Walmart Supercenters but there is a problem with the self checkouts and usually need to get help from a clerk. I'm not sure if they deliberately set it up this way. Food choices are usually not the healthiest but they have a good gluten free selection and a nice cleanly stocked dairy aisle. read more

I have always been skeptical of Food Lion supermarkets. My first impression of them is that they are less than clean and more likely than not do not have what I am looking for. Let me be the first to say that this location is the exception! Even after they built the new Wal Mart Food Center caddy-corner I still prefer to shop at this Food Lion. Be sure to enroll in their MVP club. Take your card out before you enter the store and if you enter through the right entrance you will find a MVP electronic station as you walk in. This will print off coupons good for use only on that day, but may help you save some extra money on that trip. The store is always clean. If you come in around the time they are closing you will always see a person polishing the floor with the equivalent of a supermarket zamboni. They also have an incredible Wine and Beer selection. However, some of the placements are poorly placed. The stationary section, where you might get pens, paper, and office supply is scarce with options and is placed not in an aisle, but near the front of the store near the bread. Near the bread? Moving on... you might also find that the selections of Coke and Pepsi are distributed in different parts of the store. If you're looking for bottles or smaller denominations of Coke or Pepsi you might try down the soda aisle -however- if you're looking for their largest denomination of Coke or Pepsi, you'll have to find the display located in front of an aisle near the frozen food section. This is one example of many. They do this with the breads and specialty items like Egg Nogg as well. You will also not be able to find specialty meats like Boars Head... try Harris Teeter down Davis Drive. Overall, this is a great example of what Food Lion's should be, and I am happy to be able to shop here. I believe I get a better deal here then at the Wal Mart Food Center or Harris Teeter. The store is clean, it saves me money and it provides a great anchor for that shopping plaza. read more

I ran into the manager of the store the other day and he filled me in that this place was supposed to be a Bloom, which was high end food lion. That explains why this place is nicer than all the other food lions. Its still food lion, but it just feels cleaner. the prices here are so much cheaper than the harris teeter down the street. Definitely the best Food Lion you will ever find, though let's be realistic, that's not saying much. This particular store is clean, updated, and slightly larger than a typical one, but it still suffers from the usual Food Lion problems of limited selection, hit-or-miss produce, and expired food left on shelves (3 days expired ground beef, anyone?).
