When I got to check out, I was lectured that I was required to spend $35 to get the bargain price. It was not mentioned at the cooler, but I was further instructed that it "Was listed in the newspaper" (Who gets a newspaper, and by the way your app says .29/pound. A well-meaning assistant manager stepped in to "let" me get the sale price. I understand that there's plenty of room for mistakes, but not for being treated like crap.

I was impressed with the fresh produce and there are to go salads and sandwiches. I ended up with a salad kit; blueberries a yogurt and a huge can of Coke. They didn't have normal sized cans. It was perfect for me as I wasn't hungry enough to dine out but knew I needed something. DGX also has household items if you need or forget something. The store likely caters to those that live in the downtown area and the college students. But it is great as a tourist too. The store was very clean and the service was super friendly. There are a lot of different and interesting spices, such as Chinese pine nuts, dried limes, mahshi spice, lebanese spices (shawarma, kibby, sumac, kafta, ouzi), yemeni hot chili pepper, black roasted onions, yemen spice, Zaatar, as well as Karkaday Egyptian Hibiscus tea flowers. I tried this pastry made from Karen bakery in New Jersey, warmed up in the oven for about 15 minutes at 350°. It was plain, but very good-flaky and buttery. The bread would go perfect with tea for an afternoon snack or small breakfast meal. Also tried frozen falafel (Ziyad brand) and baked it, even though it called for deep frying (trying to be healthy you know). They were cute little circular shaped falafel, about 1.75 in diameter and about half an inch thick. Although I prefer a ball shaped size, it did have good flavor. If there's a product you're looking for and they don't have it, the owner is willing to see if he can get it for you. I look forward to coming back when the bakery and restaurant opens. Side note: ask permission if you want to take any pictures. The owner was not happy or friendly towards me taking close up pictures of his products while browsing the store, regardless of the reason. I didn't have the greatest shopping experience. So if you want to try to remember the name of the product, best to write it down on a notepad instead of taking a picture. But then again, he might not like that either.

This was my first visit to an Aldi, and I came away impressed. The store was clean, well organized,…read moreand easy to shop. One thing I always pay attention to is the restroom. In my experience, if a business takes the time to keep its restroom clean, it usually takes pride in the rest of the store as well. Aldi passed that test with no problem. We found nearly everything we were looking for. Like many discount grocery stores, there were a few items that weren't available, which I understand can depend on shipments and inventory. That's really the only reason I'm giving it four instead of five stars. Overall, it was a pleasant shopping experience with good prices, a clean environment, and friendly service. We'll definitely be back.
