Quick area to get fast food for munching for Car travel. Area is a little rundown, but good prices and great service at checkout.

Stopped here to do a little shopping, since I was in the area. I purchased a package of 180z blueberries, because they were on sale for $3.99. I always gotta check my receipt with Food 4 Less/Ralphs because, either something doesn't ring up correctly or the digital coupons don't give the discount. Anyhow, I noticed the blueberries rang up at the original price, instead of the sale price. Im reading my receipt as I'm walking towards the exit, and notice what I think to be, a Customer Service counter. One guy was behind the counter, and the another was in front, on the other side of the counter, and were talking. As I walk up, he doesn't greet me, but looks at me and is still talking. The employee on the front side of the counter is the one who greeted me and asked if I needed help. Like why is he back there, at a Customer Service counter, NOT providing Customer Service?!?? I tell her what happened, and she tells me I have to get back in line at the same cashier I went to!....Huh?!?! This not a Customer Service counter?!?! Apparently not...now that explains why he looked at me, like I was a bother. So I get back in line, and tell the cashier, and she apologizes and refunds me the money I overpaid. That's a inconvenience to the customer to have to wait back in line, for the stores mistake. read more

This place is getting really bad. The employees are nice and this isn't about them. This is about the security. The time before last I went and there were people smoking an insane amount of pot in the car a couple spaces over when I parked. It didnt hit me untill i got out of my car. I hurried my kids out and got in the store. I thought when I got out an hour later they would be gone but no, there was so much smoke my kids were screaming and crying and I almost had a panic attack trying to get my baby in her seat because she was upset and wouldn't sit down but I wanted her in the car and away from the weed smoke and the guys were just staring at me laughing. Then the week after that, I got my groceries alone because clearly this area is so bad that I'm not going to take my kids with me. So I check out, spending my husband's hard earned money not EBT, (i spend over 1000 a month at this hell hole) and I say good night to the security guard who is leaning on the rail leeriing at me. Then he puts the cart lock on as I'm walking out the door and nearly knocked the wind out of me. I'm so confused because I just spent over 200 bucks and there wasn't anything unscanned. He comes around and steps in front of my cart with a little remote control thing and unlocks it. That's it for me. I've spent thousands here over the last 6 years and I'm done. The deals aren't that great anymore anyway. The beef is 30 percent fat, the coffee I usually buy has gone up 3 dollars in the last 6 months and the green onions are a dollar a bunch now. You lost a loyal customer food for less. I know you are a ghetto store but this is where I draw the line. read more

Manager, supervisor Robin, frustrating to deal with. She was authorizing an exchange and was frustrating to deal with. She was in your employee office. Came out to deal with my exchange. Miserable, annoying, confrontational. She says "I was the one you talked to on the phone. I know what I said." Well Robin, I'm the customer who talked you (me) face to face. I know what you said on the phone. It's not what you said. I'm tired, anxious, almost confrontational in response to your manager. But will hold back. I don't want to start a scene. Your store may have more in content and merchandise but the service sucks. I was at Stater Brothers prior here. So the Yelpers who share in this mistreatment, you don't need unhappy, obtuse, rude managers, employees in our faces, "You're paid" to treat to be pleasant, courteous, helpful. After today it proves my point. Staters Brothers managers and store employees are all great. I also like the little black shopping carts are perfect in all ways and you don't have to climb over the big carts. With the long lines and one cashier. We have been coming here off and on for the last 15 yrs. and this review has been overdue. The first time I came to this store, I did all my shopping. Stood in line and had everything rung up. Reached in my pocket for my wallet and realized I left it at home. Never more embarrassed I asked if I could push my basket to the side, and I'll be right back to pay. I expected to do all my shopping over again. That wasn't the case. The kind cashier held everything for me. That cashier's name was Lillie and ever since we try to get in her lane. She is a kind soul and can turn your rainy day into a ray of sunshine. Many times, we left her line feeling good about the day ahead of us. With customer service being the way it is today. She is a rare breed. Though the produce on some days isn't the greatest. The customer service has always been pleasant. The gas station was a great add on. Love the one stop shop. read more

Good weekly savings with the ad I received in my mail. Clean inside and staff is friendly. I get my groceries and even gasoline there.

Disappointed about this location, First is in the middle of the ghettto area in San Bernardino. The people are so rude do not have decency in the store. I understand people in this side of town should be more humble cashier they just do their jobs no greeting or anything. I don't think I never go back to this grocery store. read more

This food 4 less is very convenient, its local to nearby residents. But it's always so compact and busy. It does offer a gas station which is very convenient. Also has a Chinese food fast food restaurant inside. The cashiers are always pleasant, lines can get really long tho. They usually have everything I need, so I always do my grocery shopping. I love that there a big lots next door. I have not yet tried the nail shop but have seen it busy. They do have a metro next door as well which is very convenient. Its busy, so do expect lines, not all the time. It's also not the cleanest, and the do have people who loiter which they should keep from happening. read more

We just bought a home in the area and have not received our new checks . I did not think that would be a big problem since we only moved from Norwalk ca to here. But as I was trying to shop today and buy grocerys for the weekend I was told by Christina ( manager ) that they would not take my check for only $57.87 because it was from out of the area . Even though their policy only states they don't take out of state checks. She would not even run it thru to see that it would clear . She was very rude and treated me like a crimanal. I have filed a formal complaint against the store and her, for discriminating against me and my out of city check. And asked that the DM calls me or emails me regarding the situation and was told by the corporate office they will probably not even call me. read more

This Food for Less by far is the best one I have ever shopped. The manager, stockers, butcher's, cashiers and security persons are very Customer Service Orientation. The Food 4 Less in Highland, located ON Highland Avenue used to be a Smith's Grocery Store - and ooohhh how I miss Smith's! This store is located near where the wife and I live; and we do shop here...but we aren't particularly fond of the place. The only reason we shop here, and the only reason I've given it 2 as opposed to 1 star; is because their "house brand" of generic products, Kroger, kicks ass. The Kroger brands of food products are oddly enough superior tasting than their name-brands they mirror. We love them. My wife, a Midwest transplant, grew up on the Kroger brand and their stores. Many things drag this place down. I don't intend to sound mean, but some of the dirtiest, trashiest, have 12-babies-in-tow-who-are-running-uncontrolled-down-the-ailse-iest people pack the place. And good luck if you speak only English! The store isn't very clean most of the time. The place is also nicknamed Lines 4 Ever because there are no Courtesy Clerks; you have to bag your own groceries which usually causes the lines to slow down and back up because of clueless people trying to play Tetris when it comes to packing their own stuff. I will give them this; their prices are good. Not as good as a Super WalMart but good nonetheless. They are also open late (til 1am) and they have a little Chinese Fast Food eatery in the place iffin yer hungry. Stater Bros. is a better bet. read more

They appear to stock fresh meats and veggies and the prices are decent. The store itself appears a bit sketchy, as they have lockers near the door so that people don't walk around with their bags/backpacks and shoplift. They have an ATM located inside. My one caveat is the lack of cashiers. Like most places I've been to in Cali, they usually only have a maximum of 2 cashiers even when there are 15+ people waiting in line. I don't blame the workers for this; management appears to not care. I've had to walk out a few times due to time constraints and instead shop at the Big Lots! next door. Higher price, but some people can't stand in lines for 20-45 minutes. Note: You have to bag your own groceries. read more

Food 4 Less is a good store to shop at if you have a shopping list. Otherwise your just walking down isles and isles of food. You could become a zombie and put anything in your cart. They have fruit and veggies, they have a pastry area, the frozen section is in the middle and the back, plus they have restrooms. They have pretty good prices on a good amount of everything. Just not the toys, they are pricey. However, the lines can get long, and the store a bit messy. In the front the have a Chinese take out mini restaurant that is truly yummy if your into Chinese. Also they have big cups of water for cheap. read more

For what it's worth I like this store for its convenient location, which is right behind where I live. The staff is super nice and quite helpful, they always have everything that's needed and the fruit section is always well sorted. There are a few downs to this Grocery store; one being the parking, during peak hours or national holidays it seems that it's always packed and very hard to find an open spot to park. Another thing is the restrooms, they are not at grade A material. And one last thing which I believe all big grocery stores have is the cashiers...these get pretty hectic and they sometimes take longer than expected. Besides the above Cons, all other services all clean cut for me! One Pro for me is the convenient way they have a Wells Fargo bank inside the store since I'm a customer of them as well. So if your in the area gambling at San Manuel or just driving by, stop by and get a snack or maybe some good old groceries! read more

One star was the LOWEST rating I can give. where to start, the bathroom is always dirty, the parking lot is full of bums asking for change, the lines are long, no customer service, no cashiers and no baskets, dirty store, bad service and no cashiers, spoiled produce. continuously dirty parking lot. I just called the store to see if they had an item in stock and got the worst customer service. I had to call back 4 times because the person helping me hung up twice. Then I finally got a manager on the phone and he wasn't very concerned about the fact that I was hung up on or that I received bad service. So he then found the item and gave me the price and instead of saying "is there anything else I can help you with?" He just hung up without saying anything at all. Thanks a great deal Jeff. Called before I drove from rialto to see if they had cupcakes with no peanuts since this was the closest one with a bakery I figured I'd make the drive the lady in the bakery said come on in they have so many I drive there the first time forget my debt card(completely my fault) drive back and can u believe every single cupcake n the bakery had nuts in it I called over to Ralph's the woman actually took the time to check n then had to drive over there but the lady at food for less should have just checked for me I told her I was driving from far really ruined my day read more

I make Puerto Rican pasteles for Christmas and I usually have to go all over town to find all the ingredients. This year I went to the Food 4 Less in Highland, CA, and found everything I needed in one place, including really green bananas that hadn't been gassed! They've expanded their Goya section so I even found things that weren't on my list, like four different kinds of mojito for the pernil de Noche Buena. Yum! read more

Omg are you all ready for this, why do I go there cause I'm looking for a sweet deal on a 36 pack when the boys come over when I drive down into the hood and park that fat tamale lady is asking if I want to buy overpriced bunk ass tamales then the brother that's selling the stolen DVDs pops out and says he's got movies for half price he looks like smokie from next Friday as I grab my cart it feels like it has jelly on the handles I go to grab a sanitary wipe and it's out all the time, u turn the corner a kids asking there mom for some sugared cereal and she cussing him out and then slaps her 5 year old upside his head, I'm like damn Sam everybody is a single mom with 5 kids with 2 baskets loaded and all they have to pay is 10 bucks for the cigarettes and the forty the rest is free the place is dirty dirty dirty with long lines but they have some cool deals on the 36 packs, if you can get in and get out cool , I'm 6-4 and I just turn my cap around and blend in , cause I'm cool like that! read more
