Very disappointed. Google Maps clearly says this FoodMaxx location closes at 12 AM every day, but when I showed up they told me they close at 11 PM every day. I drove all the way there just to grab some snacks and ended up wasting my time. What made it more frustrating is that there were employees inside just talking while the store was already closed, which made it confusing and unprofessional. If the store actually closes earlier, the hours need to be updated online. This is really misleading for customers. Please fix your hours so this doesn't happen to other people. read more

First time at foodmaxx. Store was clean and had a lot of organic produce. Staff were very pleasant. But the best part was buying fresh hot tamales from some local guy selling them out of his car. So good! Gracious Amigo! read more

I just want to give props to the employees for working so hard on revamping the store. These past few months I've seen the positive changes they have been making to the store. For example i noticed a few weeks ago in the morning time there were two guys pressure washing the parking lot, the front part of the store has all these seasonal products and the inside entrance they have a selection of flowers (just like Trader Joe's) the aisles are organized and good sales in the produce section. Today I walked in and the store felt like a new store. Everything was so organized, clean, the employees all looked to be in a good mood, all the fun summer stuff is up for display and good sales. But mainly the employees are always so helpful and kind well specifically the ones on the floor. There is this young kid with glasses (Caucasian) he always asks if I need help finding anything never fails and I've also seen him go get the carts out in the parking lot, there's another guy on a forklift often but also in the floor I swear I see him all the time he is also very helpful, the guy in produce tall bald man he is also very helpful. I appreciate the positive changes and just wanted them to know that it has not gone unnoticed. read more

HORRIBLE!!!! By far the worst store in town. They bring in slop, say it's own sale, don't honor half of the coupons that are on sale and then don't give rain checks. They are totally DISHONEST. Never enough cashiers and the absolute worst self checkout line. It's inevitable that something won't scan and requires assistance. The light above the cash register blinks to alert an employee and nobody is EVER available to assist. If you're going to have self checkout. At least have someone there, paying attention and ready to correct the issue. I already despise self checkout out but this place succeeds at sucking the most. read more

Everything is organized neatly, employees are always walking around cleaning up. Aisles are all stocked. Produce and fruit seem fresh. Their bakery section always has fresh bread. The cashiers could be more personable and friendly, but can't have it all! read more

This store is EXTREMELY overpriced. Several items I regularly buy were DOUBLE the price of Winco and some were even a dollar more expensive than Safeway. I used to find some deals here...not anymore. Canadian buyer Kingswood Capital is responsible for this gouging. read more

Do not buy their hamburger. They sold me rotten hamburger on purpose and they put red dye on it to make it look like it's still good. I used to have a poor opinion of FoodMaxx but the last year or two has completely turned me around. We order through Instacart and thus have a wide variety of stores to compare for items and cost. FoodMaxx keeps popping up as best overall in both categories, and competes weekly with out former go-to grocery. We're impressed with the low cost, high quality items we can stock up on and the sometimes hard to find items that other stores do not have. read more

Nice shopping experience, especially during the early stages of the CORONAVIRUS lockdown. I was able to find many of the essential , that could not be found at your other chain supermarkets. I usually shopped after 10 pm. I was glad they were open later than any other supermarkets in the area. The shelves were always stocked and the staff was friendly..........not to mention that the prices were good. I just wish they had more seafood choices like salmon and other fish choices. The manager at this store goes way beyond to keep this store at its best. He works hard and is always willing to help find a product or try to order it if they don't carry it. They have an amazing produce department and carry more Asian and Mexican Foods and condiments that you could want. Beware of FALSE ADVERTISING!!! Please check your receipt before leaving. I was double-charged for special-priced items. Yes, I was offered a refund, but the gas that it took to return to the store completely off-set that. There's no accountability with their employees. This is a retirement town. Some of these poor, unsuspecting, fixed-income folks are being robbed at the cash register! Just don't assume that the items being scanned reflect the correct price. read more

I used to love this store, but the last few times I have shopped here, now at the all time peak of the pandemic, at least 50% of store employees do not cover their noses with masks and never asked unmasked customers (and there are many) to put their masks on. DANGEROUS behavior and shopping conditions for someone like me who is 68 and immune-compromised. My family and friends will never shop here again. I never really shopped at FoodMaxx because it didn't look like an appealing place from the outside. I usually shop at SafeWay or at Raleys which are both very expensive. So, I tried shopping there twice now. They have great prices, not all of the choices that I am used to. They have large family size quantity items. An 18 pack Macaroni and Cheese box. The biggest bag of carrots I have ever seen. They have a nice selection of chips and soda. I haven't purchased any meat. My only complaint is the oranges & tangerines smelled rotten and the tangerines were infested with fruit flies which was disgusting. 2 Stars for "Freshness": Usually items that are nearing their expiration date are placed on sale or clearance? I have noticed on many account and only after I get home that an item os about to expire in 72 hours, I then take a look at the rest of my groceries that have expiration dates and am dumbfounded that's it's at least 50% of everything I bought! And at full price? I only buy from this store out of convenience, but if I want groceries that aren't about to expire, I go to WINCO or Safeway. l would love to patronize this store more often, but I'm not going to pay full price for old products. Example of the latest experience: opened up a bag of lays potato chips and they were stale upon opening up the bag? I opened up a can of Frito Lay bean dip: it had weird bubbles on the top and tasted sour? American consumers deserve better. So do better? read more

This is a great place to grocery shop especially if you want to stretch your dollar. Im pretty loyal to Safeway since theyre closest to my house but im always surprised by how many more bags of groceries we get for the same amount of money or less even. This store is layed out better than the food maxx in antioch too. With a much fresher produce and meat section too. So to be clear, i mentioned bein a safeway guy but thats only cuz live close to the store on balfour. Ive gotten spoiled. This has to be one of the most friendliest grocery stores in the area. They greet you and really make you feel appreciated. They have a huge produce section which, for most of the year has a good selection. Nothing too exotic so if you are looking for starfruit or other exotics, you won't find it but you will find a good selection of good, everyday produce. You will also find a very friendly produce man that will greet you and answer any question that you may have with a smile. The store is clean, well lit and with lots of people on the floor to help you if you can't find a particular item. Cashiers are VERY sweet and some of them will chat with you as if you had been their friend for years. I go out of my way, by several miles to shop here because of the service I get. read more

They're right. They are the lowest prices in town. The produce I tried was much better than I thought it would be. Surprisingly good! The Sunnyside brand is the "store brand" here. Tried several types of food and seemed pretty good except for the block cheese. Maybe the sharp cheddar is beddar than the medium? I'll have to swing by sometime and check that out. Everything seems like the other chains, but for less. The wine selection is very small and they don't carry "everything" that I like. I like being able to buy half dozen eggs sometimes, but can't here. They don't carry Kraft Bagelfuls, which are better than they sound. Other than these small items, FoodMaxx will maximize shopping power....for reals! read more

I went to this location on 9/14/23 around 3:30 pm to get some groceries for the week. I come to food maxx for the convenience as it is close to my home and the prices are always fair. I completed my shopping and went to the check out line to pay and leave. The cashier Bibi was helping us. He was very kind and this review is in no way a reflection of him, he was great. While he was checking us out he was having technical problems with the scale on his check stand, it wasn't recording the weight. He called for his manager NANCY for assistance. When she heard his request for help she openly told him (in front of customers and children) to "F*** off." I could not believe what I was hearing from her mouth. The cashier Bibi looked extremely uncomfortable with her response, as were we the paying customers. She eventually came over to help begrudgingly and with the nastiest attitude toward her employee and us the customers. She took our item to weigh at a different stand. After she got the weight of our item (onions) she threw them at my husband exclaiming "Here do you want your onions". I commend the cashier for keeping his professional demeanor in front of the customers, I can not say the same about Nancy. In my opinion she is creating a hostile work environment. If she says these things in front of dozens of people, imagine what she says when no one else is around. Nancy needs to be retrained on customer relations and demoted until she learns how to be a decent boss. I will be sticking with Walmart from now on for affordable groceries. read more
