This grocery store is amongst the most poorly laid out stores known to man/woman. I mean come on, from the archaic 80's model, which the "plan" os to make your customers walk through the entire store to get the milk or eggs they need, hoping they purchase other items, no, they won't, maybe they will, but it's terrible customer service. Speaking to that customer service, let's not have self checkout before 11 am. It's rude, especially to you 1 person checker who must hear complaints about that all the time. And what about the water refill station, that most times the inspections, change of filters are seriously out of date, more importantly, the water runs out. What to do, corporate entities are far removed from accountability. The cash registers malfunction, making purchases impossible. Time for the corporate personell to go into the stores themselves instead of sitting behind a computer. read more

Went in and went up to a group of workers to ask to use the restroom since I'm not from here and we have been in the car for some time. Not one person except this young man would even ask if we needed help or look our way. They had the bathroom I needed and was very grateful. He is the reason they got the rating they did because their community of workers really slack off. About 2 registers open but 6 workers in one corner doing nothing. Strange encounter. They just remodeled the store which makes it a lot easier to move around and find items. New refrigerators which are great. Sometimes the service is sketchy. Depends on who you ask for help. Seems like they get irritated if you ask them to check for certain items in the back. Also keep an eye out for the checker named Carlos. He always tries to keep your coupons for himself. When purchasing goods, coupons get printed for future use. I've caught him numerous times put them aside probably for himself. read more

Food Maxx is probably most comparable to Reno's Winco. It's a little difficult to maneuver through not because of of space but because the isles aren't clearly labeled. I walked around in circles a few times before being able to find what I needed. The produce seemed really fresh but again the labeling was difficult to read. Thankfully I know my veggies pretty well. The layout is probably my biggest complaint because there is just no order. It seemed like they only had employees working the registers but not manning the store or I would have asked for help. The prices are really decent. I was also pretty disappointed they didn't have any organic options. read more

Their ice cream freezer is way too cold. The ice cream is frozen solid and needs to thaw for a couple hours before you can eat it. There was two inches of frost on everything the last time I stopped in! That's ridiculous. Inches of frost?! Come on. And I've told them several times. They tell me that they know, that it's going to be fixed. So why do I keep going? I went to the Yuba City Food Maxx on Colusa hwy, at 6 am when they open because I'm disabled and need the electric cart and 2 were out by the door both were not charged, I just call and without checking just looking at the 2 that were uncharged told me they were charged, when I return they won't be charged just like the last time this happen, the woman basically was short and acted as if she knew, I call BS read more

I enjoyed my visit to FoodMaxx in Colusa, the store was clean, everything was well-organized and everything I needed was easy to find. I usually have a really good experience shopping at the Yuba City store. Most of the employees are very friendly and helpful. Today I got a checker that was pretty much an a$$. His name was Brian. Will be awhile before I go back. And I will make sure that Brian is not my checker if I do go in. read more

Alright this is merely a review of my experience not a rating of the actual store itself. I will not be returning because the customer service is hit and miss. I've encountered 2 problems with this store that have brought me to write a review. 1. My bf and I saw that some chicken breast were mislabeled as something else and therefore the sticker showed a much lower price than other breasts. Well we picked them up and thought that they had to be honored at the that price because it was not our problem that the butcher area mislabeled them. when we were at the register my bf and I paid in 2 separate transactions he bought one set and I was buying the other. He was wrung up and paid with no issues. When he was wringing up my chicken breast he says very abruptly MAM I can not sell this chicken to you this is not the right price, I'm like well you have to honor the label and you should talk to your butcher people because they made the mistake. He goes well you could have switched the stickers lol. What are you crazy? How could I get a sticker off without ripping it? Anyways I asked for a manager and got the same response. They wouldn't honor the chicken breasts for 5$ they wanted to re-price them and sell them to me. I said NO THANKS BYE. 2. There's a hoochie mama latin girl who wears red light district lipstick who gets too uncomfortably close to my bf when we shop at the store. She follows us and then walks I mean shirt sleeves touching close to my bf up and down aisles and she just rubs me the wrong way to the point of harassment. She need to pull her horse hair up because it's unsanitary to have long hair touching the fruits and veggies. That's all. Everyone has their own experiences. I like the store but the Marysville one has a much better selection of beef and really has a better vibe. I have to be buzzed to get through the Yuba City store. Prices are good, but this store in particular never has enough cashiers. I have, literally, been in a standstill for over 7 minutes now...yes, I'm Yelping from line. It would be nice for your cashiers to show ANY sense of urgency. You might want to let your cashier named Christine that our time is valuable, so she could scan groceries a bit faster. Shopped here a few times and while they may have lower prices the food quality is poor and customer service is nonexistent. Every cashier has been very rude and it always takes a lot longer than normal to pay for your items. You will be much better off avoiding and going to Walmart. read more

FoodMaxx in Yuba City is my number one supermarket as they have what you need at lower prices than competitors. They are a great savings over Raley's, Bel Air and their sister store Save Mart. But to my surprise, at Thanksgiving, they beat the heck out of WalMart for holiday food items. The prices are similar to Winco. FoodMaxx's recent specials have also been great. Produce is generally good. Dairy is very good. Meat is good in most categories. Bakery is average, with good prices. The store is clean and has less isle clutter than competitors. Service has always been good, with people always asking if they can assist with anything. I am a price-shopper and can tell you that FoodMaxx is a definite leader and is the number one store of the three that I shop. read more

there was a couple times it happened but the mean has mold on it and the cashier wouldn't stop talking to the customers and i has to wait for about 10 minutes just to pay for my items. i wouldn't recommend going here. there was water all over the floor by the checkout without no sign and i nearly fell. 1/5. read more
