Prices better than every grocery store hot food pizza and fried chicken delicious it's like Costco but employee owned it

I came in this afternoon to do a little food shopping, and the first thing I noticed was their poultry, fish, cheese and meat department. I'm really impressed with the improvements and the convenience. I enjoy the cut up fresh fruit, the packaging of fish and easy access to everything. I think those involved in the completion should get all the accolades because what a great job!Here's what I must say about the disappointment I had today; I had a very unpleasant experience at your checkout. I also read on other reviews that it's something that happens and I would hate to think that it has anything to do with anyone's affiliation or anything personally. A customer that enjoys shopping at your location shouldn't have to feel like that especially if it's an employee owned business. I would expect the highest regard when it comes to customer service experience. This is a review that is honest and means well. read more

New to the norcal area. I daresay the employee owned business needs real help in knowing how to do a proper reset, or store remodeling. The store has been chopped up for months. I don't see much improvement at all. The maddenly long lines tell me the store management hasn't been paying attention. The advertised Wed $5.00 sushi, I'm told when they run out, that's it, mo more, even though it's advertised as the WEDSDAY special, which would be at a minimum 9am- 5pm. read more

Best grocery store in YC. Huge selection, good prices, clean and super helpful staff. It's almost too large. They put a lot of product on the shelves, so you have to search past a lot of shelves full of the same stuff to find what you're looking for. Samantha sits on her ass at the selfcheck line, being disabled from recent surgery I attempted to check out, she stopped me and rudely told me 15 items or less only to walk back to the regular checkout, no help offered, you see her RBF and ugliness, I had 17 items, Winco can keep their food, dirty store and rude employee, Raleys and Bel Air have nice employees so we shall shop there where our business is appreciated. *UPDATE* I received a email reply from Winco corporate stating my email was being forwarded to the owners, they have my name, email and phone number, no contact has come, what a joke of a shitty ran company. Absolutely awful. The employees are always rude and talk to you as though you are an inconvenience. The carts for disabled people are never charged and they argue with you about using them. If you don't "look like" you don't need one they won't let you. You have to convince them. Then even if you get one they always die half way through the store even though they "swear" they are fully charged. Then act surprised when you are angry it died. Awful people work here. I usually never have a problem when I come shopping, the register person is always nice and willing to help but today Mrs. Jeannie K decided to be very rude, unfriendly and unhelpful! Elderly people already have enough trouble getting around and keeping up with today's society so this person was having issues using their food stamps card. He wanted to know the balance (mind you I know for a fact they can give it to you) her response was horrible, told him she couldn't help him. The way she was speaking to him when he was trying to just swipe his card in general was so disrespectful like if she doesn't have grandparents! I'm a firm believer in speaking up for those who can't speak up for themselves. I spoke to her shift lead and she definitely told her a whole different story! If she doesn't like her job why is she working there? Everyone goes through things but that doesn't mean we have the right to lash out on people! 40 minutes after the manager Crystal told me she was calling someone for my special order. She said this with a unprofessional manner and the look on her face when I said "excuse me" I could see her reaction and moan as she turned around because she was annoyed with having to help me.She is a tall skinny caucasion pretty blonde with glasses. Just to be fair. The employee said there were to Crystal's working here. Bulk food items people were on break. No one could fi d my special order. Finally 40 minutes later a lead clerk Julian helped me. He was great. Unfortunately my order didn't get ordered. I couldn't find the manager in the store afterwards. read more

If I could write this and leave no star I would. I came a few different times to the customer service booth to send money and cash my check. There's a lady named Debbie that works the booth and she's very childish and unprofessional. I just lost my 21 year old son unexpectedly, my brother and I have thyroid cancer. This lady Debbie , should be named " Karen " keeps giving me a hard time . Really rude just a gross personality if I were WinCo I'd can her ASAP!! This lady discriminates against me because she does not like who I voted for. It's funny how the owners of the store don't mind who I vote for when spending hundreds of dollars a week there. No only DEBBIE. The WinCo KAREN. I think you need to grow up Debbie or get out of customer service because your rude and don't have a good personality for the booth. read more

Winco is awesome!! It's an employee owned store and offers great deals and is always clean!! It is waaaay better than FoodMaxx or Food 4 Less and those type of stores. The prices are much better and the store is really big, offering a great variety and selection of foods. I love the bulk food items. They have so much to choose from!! Even pet food and spices. You can also make fresh peanut butter!! There is also a big fresh coffee selection where you can freshly grind the beans you want and mix and match. There is also a big deli food section where there are both hot foods available, such as fried chicken for cheap, sandwiches, a variety of ready to go packed foods, and pizzas!! Everything is reasonably priced and tasted great. They do not take credit cards, but debit cards and cash are welcomed. I love going to Winco and I wished they had more of these in socal where I live! read more

Had 12 or so items in my shopping cart, went through self check out, because no registers were open. Cashier at self check out told me it was 15 items or less, I pointed out to her that only had 12 items. After checking out, she approached me and told me I had 17 items, because of the CRV from the soda I was buying. She literally spent longer telling me I had more items than it took me to ring them up there for a holding of other people in line. Highly not recommended, they need to really reevaluate their priorities and open more registers. . read more

I am normally pretty happy with this location but tonight was definitely a night that employees were very lazy. Produce employee didn't know the difference between the apples casing me to be over charged at the register which I just gave up. He was too busy talking to friends that came in. Self check out employee decided to yell at us across the registers instead of getting off her ass and walking over too us. Then she tells us she can't hear us. I did not know WinCo did not accept credit cards until AFTER about $90 of food was already rung up. I did not carry much cash and there were three carts behind me so I just walked out! On my way out I did not see any signs on or near the entrance door that stated "No Credit Cards." Did I feel bad about leaving the groceries on the conveyor belt as I walked out of the store? Pro's-mixed with a few con's An abundance of fresh veg/fruits. Every produce employee I met have been knowledgeable and efficient and polite. Except for the manager matthew( not the tall younger tattoo guy) he is an absolute condescending lazy excuse for a produce manager and would prefer to push any question that will cause him to do a little work onto his employees. I haven't seen him in awhile so hopefully Winco's has seen for themselves how useless this wasted space is and let him go. Great selections of self serve items such as spices, candies and unique culture specific item's. Again Raj (department manager) is ridiculous. I waited 7 ore 8 min for him to come help me. And before you all say he's busy, why yes he was. He was busy talking to the produce manager about the football scores. A wonderfully stocked cheese island and to go salads and dinners for those lazy evenings or quick lunches. Hector (maybe an assistant manager ??) was so helpful in helping me choose a few different cheeses to go with my cheese board. Also was helped in the deli by renu(?? Spelling) absolutely a sweet person and wonderful customer service. Very clean store and well stocked until u get to the register and ur falls apart. Prices are within my budget, which is why I shop here. Needs a better variety of foods and not just the most in demand products. I like to try new things I see on tv, but not able to buy here. I end up having to make a second trip to Raleys or Bel Air. Also I have a complaint about the locks on the carts. Sometimes I go down the wrong lane with my purchases and I need to get to the next lane, but I can't because there are so many parked cars. So I think I have it figured out and go to the end of the lane and walk back up. WRONG!!! The cart locks up on me and I have to call the store to unlock me. While I wait for somebody to show up my milk is spoiling. There's got to be a better way then to make this loyal customer feel like a thief. read more

I'm very disappointed to see that this store has already stopped its mask requirement. Signs are gone and many people had no masks on this weekend. I doubt that Winco did anything but make money during this pandemic. It's a total slap in the face to employees who are in close contact with people all day. I have been emailing them and telling them. The soda machines and several other places in the store have visible mold. That is a violation. I don't know how the city hasn't charged them but it's gross and should be cleaned. It's been months and it's only getting worse. The soda machines by the cashiers are not their responsibility. Apparently, they are the vendor's responsibility to maintain but they're in Winco. There are plenty of nice people working here but my gosh. It needs a good scrub. I just recently discovered Winco Foods... and I'm already a huge fan! Besides having competitively love prices on darn near all groceries, they have an impressive selection of fresh produce. There's a serious variety of veggies and fruits! My favorite aspect of Winco is the bins. Oh, the bins. They sell food by the scoopful at a fraction of the cost that you would pack for a whole package. I buy my steel cut oats here: a 28oz tin at Wal-Mart is around $5, but refilling it with oats from the bin at Winco is $0.83 a pound! (ish). You could potentially save a significant amount of $... they have bulk flours, sugars, rice, cereal, trail mix, candy... even pet food! (My other favorite buy is the flavored rawhide bones for dogs; Wal-Mart have similar bones for upwards of $7, but you can score them at Winco for approximately $1.50. Awesome.) Also, if you're a fan of grinding your own coffee beans, Winco has a substantial assortment of whole beans: waaaay more roasts and flavors than at the formidable Wal. Verdict: definitely go check out this Winco Foods! You could find some major deals... and who doesn't like a deal, eh? read more

Love the value and prices. The store carries almost everything I regularly use and has a good selection and some of the best prices in town. The self checkout is quick and the cashiers are always very pleasant and efficient. The lines can be longer than other grocery stores in town but I try to pick my times and it is my go to grocery store. read more

Was in winco with two friends grocery shopping and two kids on the other end of the aisle throw fireworks at an old couple. The old couple walks all the way down the aisle to say we did it and we tell them we didn't do anything so they go and get a manager. The manager then yells at us and says we need to stop throwing fireworks and we say we didn't do anything and he says he got us on camera so we say you can check our pockets we have no fireworks and we ask to see the video and he just says we're gonna have to pay for the fireworks. Then you can hear fireworks in another area in the store and he just leaves and so we just keep shopping and we run into that same manager a few times but instead of apologizing for accusing us he just gives us dirty looks. The managers name was Damien or something he had a beard and dark curly hair and the front half of his hair is kinda grayish. He didn't bother to ask us for our side of the story just went straight to accusing us and then when he sees we didn't do it he doesn't apologize and just mean mugs us the rest of the time we were there. went to the self checkout today, saw that one of the registers were out of order so i went to a different one. lady condescendingly told me to go back to the register only to realize it wasn't i who had made the previous mistakes. nevertheless she was cranky & very condescending towards other customers as well. something about the self checkout employees that have huge egos & superiority complexes for no reason. anyway i also found mold in some grapes today & the previous time i've purchased them, so that was a bonus! other than the moldy food & strange customer service encounters i've had, everything is reasonably priced & i'm glad that they're open 24 hours, very convenient shopping here. read more

If you shop around 10:00 pm there's one cashier to help everyone while 15 employees are unloading stock for the shelves, I had a full cart as did the folks in line before me and behind me. It's very inconvenient to wait in line for 45 minutes while there's several people doing stock. If you see people with full carts another cashier should open up. read more

Needed camping supplies while visiting Collins Lake nearby. Shopped at WinCo for the 1st time here in Yuba City. Loved the variety of food and supplies. Impressed by rows and rows of aisles of well-stocked items. Store sufficiently offered everything we needed. Exceeded my expectations for a suburban supermarket. Conscientious older male clerk saw a line forming, and immediately opened a new cashier line and assisted me and another shopper. Male clerk was very friendly, pleasant, gracious and accommodating with bags I needed for my camping supplies. Made my day. Glad we listened to the Collins Lake camp staff and came here to shop. For over 10 years I was a happy WinCo shopper in Yuba City. This year I noticed products of inferior quality taking the place of great quality items. It happened twice in the past few months that pressurized spray bottles were depleted and useless. Today was the last straw....... most of the store clerks and customers wore no face masks and no distancing was observed at all. The carts were filthy. I was really hoping this place had improved since I've gone there back when I was pregnant with my first child 9 years ago. Nope! Back then I got robbed right at the checkstand and nobody cared or did anything about it. This time I went in and bought $300 worth of groceries and the checker a skanky little blonde just kept running and running the conveyor belt will all of my groceries crushed themselves. She pretty much ignored us as we were checking out other than to keep running the conveyor belt and destroying all my groceries as I was desperately trying to bag them and get them in the car. Then she failed to take one of the on product coupons and run it and when I pointed it out to her she waved at me without even looking at me and said I could just go take that the customer service desk. When I said I'll do that and I'll also let them know that you were crushing my $300 worth of groceries she just laughed and said go ahead. Once I got to the customer service desk I discovered why. They called up the manager who was about 13 years old and had eyeliner on like a wanna be chola. When I told her about our experience and how $300 worth of groceries had freezer boxes that are popped open from being crushed and I'm sure the contents were crushed as well and pastas that are broken in the back now she just Shrugged and said well what do you want me to do replace them? I said no not really I just spent two hours shopping for all of them and bagging them I don't really want to take them all out of the bag and inspect them and have to go back grocery shopping again. What I want you to do is show a little bit of concern about the fact that someone working for you is either absolutely clueless about her job or actually hostile towards customers and you should handle that situation. She's what I want replaced. And she just Shrugged and said never had a problem with her. And that was it. They probably go out clubbing together after hours. The prices are good but don't expect any kind of customer service. And bring extra people to help you bag so they don't destroy what you bought while you're trying to get it to your vehicle. OMG. Got home and $25 worth (3 out of 4 packages) of beef are GREEN AND BROWN AND REVOLTING INSIDE. See pics. They are going to kill someone! Never shopping here again. My niece had an allergic reaction to a sushi roll, which she eats every week and had no problem. Unfortunately she had a severe allergic reaction and Jeremy(Seafood Manager) took the time out of his day to go over every ingredient in the roll, and answered all of our questions. To circumnavigate what others have already said, I'll try not to make repeats. Winco is AWESOME!! Favorite grocery store ever! The bulk bins are awesome. The prices are awesome. The selection is bizarre and can both amaze you and frustrate you in a single trip. It is by far the cheapest grocery store that I've ever been to. Helpful hints : have a game plan when entering because you can get overwhelmed easily by the large isles full of everything you ever wanted. Avoid evenings and weekends, and holidays, because of long lines of people who remind me of the zombie shoppers in Sean of the Dead :) It's the people that are irritating, but it's not the store's fault. It's SO cheap here! I don't even bother going anywhere else unless I don't feel like standing in line or want to go the health food route.
