Super cute boutique. Very unique and modern offerings from all over the world. All the clothing is ethically made from small independent brands. Some of which aren't even in any other stores in the US. Being a smaller boutique they had limited sizes but it looked like they had something for everyone in most styles. The owners also have their own jewelry and art brand that they produce in house. They showed me around their workspace. I stopped into most downtown boutiques and this one was by far the most unique and interesting. Wouldn't miss it if you're downtown. read more

This boutique is a wonderful place to find unique and sustainable clothing, jewelry, home goods, and art. The owner has a great eye and so friendly. She designs her own line of jewelry and art pieces using a wood laser cutter. So cool!!! This little gem keeps the focus on the artists while maintaining reasonable prices. read more

Very cute boutique with a mix of jewelry, decor, lots of clothing, paper goods, and a few makeup items. The look and vibe are more downtown Portland than downtown Flag. I only looked closely at the makeup, candles, and clothing. Everything I touched felt of good quality. The makeup line was all natural and the candles claimed to be handmade in Europe, but I was disappointed that every clothing tag I looked at said "Made in China" considering their Yelp bio about ethical and local fashion. Typically when items are organic, ethical, help support underprivileged communities, etc. they feature that info prominently all over their labeling. If any of the clothing at Fool's Gold is actually ethical, sustainable, etc. it sure doesn't let you know. And the young shop attendant who sat staring at something on her podium and ignored me (the only person in the store) the entire time didn't either. The pricing at this store is entirely too high for items that were made in China. From what I've seen hanging out in Flag for a few weeks it's also high compared to other boutiques downtown. Considering the other great Yelp reviews (almost all of which were marked as "not recommended" by Yelp...?) I expected a friendlier atmosphere, more affordable options, and local/ethical choices. read more
