With that said it has been harder and harder to justify spending the money on seed because of the increasing prices or lack of quality at the big box stores. We normally buy the no mess blend from Moana Lane Nursery but at $59 for 20 pounds it hard to swallow. On a whim today we stopped here and took a look around. The very helpful gal at the counter pointed out the extensive selection of seed and yes they had a no mess 20 pound blend with a wide verity of seed in it. But how much is it? It is only $33, that's it. We will definitely be back and highly recommend stopping in.

This store has a lot of bulk bins for bird needs, such as chicken starter, scratch, meal worms, different seeds. I also saw some things for rabbits in the bulk bin area. It is a good way to try things or take care of your pets without buying everything in large packages. For example, if you are going to make a rare trip to chickadee ridge and need some bird seeds, you can use the bulk bin to get the amount you need for the hike. They have black oil sunflower seed in the bin too. This store carries organic chicken feed and also in a corn free soy free formula. They also sell poultry bedding which I didnt notice at another store. It contains de and zeolite already mixed in there. They sell stuff for horses and dogs too.

So, I went in, scored a free bag of popcorn at the door, was directed to the merchandise I wanted, went to pay where I presented my US Department of Defense Military Veterans id. I received a Veterans Discount. NO employee thanked me for my Service. He received all the help he needed, but my experience was completely different. The moment I picked up an item in the camping aisle and handed it to my husband, who was carrying the basket, I noticed employees watching me. One employee kept their eyes on me for over 10 minutes. It got to the point where I had to make eye contact and stare back because I felt so uneasy. As a brown Asian customer shopping with my Caucasian husband, I couldn't help but feel like I was being singled out. The employees were constantly talking on their radios while watching me. They may have thought they were being subtle, but it was obvious. Whether intentional or not, I was left feeling as though I was being treated like I was stealing, and it completely ruined my shopping experience. No customer should leave a store feeling singled out or uncomfortable. This happened roughly 2-3 weeks ago, and I haven't been back since. Even though the store is only about a minute from my house, I refuse to shop there again. There are plenty of other places that know how to treat customers with respect.

I finally got the new chicken coop up and ready in time to get chicks and start a new flock! Kruses always has the best selection of baby chicks in the area, ranging from all the expected breeds to those wacky and rare ones too. Seeing all of them made my head spin because I really had no idea what the breeds looked like as adults nor what kind of eggs or temperaments to expect. The staff was super helpful and showed me a big chart on the wall detailing it all! We ended up with 10 and 2 ducks, representing 5 breeds! I decided I wanted a third of one breed (buff brahma) and sent a friend to get it but they sent her home with the wrong one. Oh well. We got an extra solid egg layer so it makes no difference. I hear they can get just about any breed you want, so be sure to ask. I'm headed back soon because I need some more food for these little gals! I love Kruses!

I got some Silkies, Polish and Wyandotte's. They also had everything we could need to take care of them: feeders, heat lamps and both medicated and non medicated chick feed. The guy was also knowledgeable about chickens and helped me pick the ones I wanted. I would highly recommend Kruse's for all your chicken (or other farming) needs!

If you're gonna hire them to put in basic drip rock and a few plants, they're probably fine although where they lay the irrigation lines makes no sense at all, and makes it very difficult to plant after the fact which I had to do because 30% of what they planted died the first winter . They installed the water feature that has some type of leak underneath it because it is killing the evergreen trees behind it because they are getting overwatered. One of the drains for the water feature is a pipe that was 3 feet from the French drain that goes to the street so it was constantly a lake filled with water. The the irrigation pipes and electrical were run after the trees were planted right down the center section of that planting area which made it impossible to dig and replace the dead trees. I had to hire someone else to come out and reroute the irrigation line and the low-voltage lighting so that Moana could come out and plant replacement trees. Nothing they did make sense or was logical. It seemed to be the down and dirty quickest and cheapest way to get it done.

My genre of choice is Romance and I did not see a dedicated Romance section. Luckily, "House of Cotton" was on my TBR, as I had bought and gifted it a few years ago. So I snagged it and paid. The two workers behind the cash wrap were friendly and took the time to make me feel like I was the only patron in the store, despite what was probably an onslaught for the day. Rad Cat also has a curated selection of stationary and journals to choose from if that's something you're also in the market for. They have a section for cats you can interact with, however with the amount of people that came through on this day, the cats were also overwhelmed and weren't able to be interacted with. Which is totally fine and made total sense for the day.
