Normally a five star location, the yard man was rude to the point that my sister and I couldn't get away fast enough. We needed to pick up our wood pellets and then have the propane TaTaForNow! Ms filled. He piled not allow me to carry tanks the 20' to the fill area, where my sister would have had the tanks filled. Instead he demanded I drive around the yard to park and carry the tanks from the other side of the fence. He was annoyed and would not even let me get a sentence out. Then when I went to count my 20 bags of pellets, $169 worth of product, he had tossed them in like a pile of bean bags, making it impossible to count. When I said I wasn't able to count them like that he briskly said, "There's 20!" I got home, there was 20, but in my previous visit there were 18, so I got shorted 2, so I didn't think my request was unnecessary. Yes, you're busy, but you won't be if this is how you treat your customers. We have been loyal customers for as long as you've been in business, but try to remember, you're not the only game in town. This is the season for baby chicks! Im new to chicks/chickens. They started their season with their "chick day." They were giving 5 chicks if you buy a bag of food. I missed it, but it sounds like a great way to get started. They have a new shipment of baby chicks every week since chickday. They post the breeds they are expecting on their Facebook page every week. There are no minimum chicks you have to buy since it is a local store and not a national store. You should bring your own box to take them home in. They sell feed, shavings, feeders, and waterers. I didn't really browse around to see what else they had. The bigger items such as shavings are paid for inside, and then you drive your car to get loaded up. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Btw, chicken math is a thing! read more

I have lived in many places and the best feed stores were always the ones in little country towns. That's how Greens feed is. The kindness and quality of those little country town feed stores where everyone knows names and faces. Care and standards here are always extremely high and if you ever have an issue they will make it right. In 10 years I have never had any bad feed, never had a poor greeting from anyone or had anything but a smile from anyone here. Our go to place for chicken feed, goat pellets, alfafa, hay, and most livestock supplies. Very convenient, as you can pay and then drive through the fence area and the staff will load most things in your truck. Very efficient process. I recommend going early as they get busy. read more

My husband and I find the quail in Northern Nevada to be absolutely hilarious and entertaining to watch, and thus we entice them with chicken scratch feed to keep them active in our yard. Green's is the closest option in Reno that offers a variety of feed and even though we aren't getting anything fancy for our pets or livestock, I appreciate that they treat us with kindness and a smile every time we're there. I got a vaccine for my kitten and the vaccine was yellow when we put it together and when I went to tell them that the vaccine was bad, they told me that they didn't have another vaccine for kittens and that this is only thing will give you a refund. On our way to Burning Man, we stopped at quite a few gas stations. We were looking for a gas station that would refill our propane tank. Unfortunately, everyone wanted to charge us for a completely new tank, and give us a new tank, EVEN THOUGH we had our own! We were getting frustrated. All we wanted was to top off our propane tank. NO gas station in Reno, that we found, offered us this service either! Thankfully Green's Feed was there. We drove down the road some, off of our designated path, and was able to have a nice attendant top off our tank. They didn't seem to mind us looking like a bunch of weirdos. This is obviously a little local spot that deserves credit for being great! Go here and forget about those gas station rip-off prices. read more

Reno best feed store! I am a long time resident, reno native, and I've shopped here for everything for my rabbits, chickens, cats, dogs and even bought firewood. They are knowledgeable, staff is polite, courteous and even loads your stuff! Baby chicks are robust and healthy, hay and straw are top quality, almond firewood...2018 purchase...excellent, cured split, stacked and wrapped...loaded on pallet into our trailer too! Only downside is limited parking....it's always so busy, sometimes hard to find a spot, but nothing extreme, just might have to walk a few extra feet. They have vaccines for our dogs and cats too! Not sure if others, those are the only ones I've bought. I just can't say enough wonderful things about this, LOCAL, LONG TIME BUSINESS THANKS GUYS FOR THE YEARS OF AWESOME SERVICE! read more

I only need to buy a straw bale for my garden every couple of years, and this is the year. I discovered my usual source was no longer in business, so I had to find a new supplier. I called Green's and was really happy to find they not only carried bale straw, but the price was fair and reasonable. Cindy took my call and was very friendly and helpful. I headed over to get my straw. I walked in the store, was greeted immediately, my straw bale was rung up and I was ready to have my bale loaded! I drove to the barn where I was helped right away by a very capable gentlemen and within minutes, was on my way. The transaction was completed in less then 10 minutes. The bale was well tied and the straw was good quality. I am so happy to find this new supplier and won't hesitate to visit them for other gardening and pet needs! read more

Also, I don't know if they still do their annual "Chick Day" but that is a quick and easy way to get into keeping chickens. Don't give them your money, they don't want it. Called in to make sure I wasn't cutting it too close before making the 45 minute drive; they said if I made it by closing I would be helped. I got there quicker than expected only to find they had closed early, though the employees who had just closed the door behind them wouldn't even tell me they had just closed. Not sure why they pretended to be in such a hurry, as they sat in the parking lot for the next 30 minutes watching me call around, only to eventually demand I leave as if I were some sort of criminal. I normally take reviews about customer service with a grain of salt and attribute it to circumstance or a turn of bad luck, but in the words of their employee, they, "don't give a f*ck" Save yourself the time, the trouble, the headache, and the bad mood. Go the speed limit as you are only blocks away from 911 Parr, the Sheriff's office. They have items for all barnyard pets and even cats and dogs. (I'm not sure they cater to smaller pets like hamsters or guinea pigs, as I wasn't looking). Vaccines (except Rabies which is only used through a vet) are available and refrigerated as necessary. Bring an ice cooler if you are buying vaccines. They don't work if they get too cold or too hot... Which means that you should always keep them cool-cold but not hot, room temperature, or frozen. (Be aware that a vet may not care if you already gave shots yourself because the vet will probably say that he or she has no control about how the vaccine was handled). If you only have need of dog or cat items, you may be better-off going to Petsmart or Petco. The pet area has limited items. You might be better off doing your puppy shots at the vet, and later, giving your own injectable vaccines on your own. read more
