I brought my 8-week-old puppy in for what I thought would be a simple deworming, but ended up spending over $1,100 on an exam, labs, and X-rays after I suggested she may have swallowed something. As a first-time pet owner, I didn't expect it to be so expensive. The staff was very kind and professional, but they don't offer payment plans -- only third-party credit cards that take time to apply for. They also told me the Tractor Supply vaccines don't count, which was frustrating since I was trying to do the right thing. Even after all the testing, I didn't get clear answers, and they wanted me to pay again for another X-ray. I left feeling overwhelmed and won't be returning. read more

VERRY BAD EXPERIENCE, DO NOT RECOMMEND My 8 year old dog developed a soft lump on her left elbow. A few days later it started weeping. I called FHAH and they were able to make an appointment that day. We arrived on time and then sat for 20 min. with no explanation or comment at all. Then brought to the exam room where we sat for 71 mins. again with no interaction with staff. The vet took an entire 7 mins to examine my dog and tell me it is infected and will require surgery. Gave me meds an estimate of $2500 and said nothing could be done till the swelling went down, about three days, 20 min later still, another staff member brings he medication and tells me they can remove it tomorrow! When I told him what the doctor said about swelling he checked the meds and saw there were three days treatment and just said in thtee days then. What would have happened if I brought my dog back today? Very bad experience, do not recommend. read more

We have been to Foothill Animal Hosital for 5 years. Our 2, 13 yr old mini doodles have received the best of care. Because I don't gave adult supervision, I brought another dog into our home. A 5 year old poodle mix rescue. She had a lump under her right leg that I wanted checked. Dr Brian ran a complimentary ultra sound on her. She's terrified of all vet offices, and once again, the staff at FAH&E were able to utilize minimally invasive handling techniques to examine and handle my sweet babe. I've heard there are less expensive Vets, but they don't provide the level of care nor do they have the expertise and equipment available to diagnose my loved one the way this place does. The receptionist was upfront with the exam fee when I made the appointment, AND Dr. McGehee discovered the cause of her problems AND treated her without any hidden or surprising charges. My dog was limping. I thought they would X-ray him. They said it was just arthritis and sent me away with pain meds. I asked why no X-ray. Dr said he didn't think it was necessary. My dog continued to limp. I checked his foot real closely. He had 3 pebbles nearly glued to his foot real close to his skin and in between his toes. Poor boy, I carefully cut it out. So close to the skin I had to pull some hair out. He's fine now. If the Dr. would have X-rayed him or looked closer it would have spared him days of pain. read more

Took our Aussie here for the first time and cannot say enough great things about this business. Everyone from the front desk to our Vet Dr. Niki Kelland were amazing. Our pet is a 12 year old Aussie with advanced lung cancer. The tech Matt was very attentive and knowledgeable. Matt and Dr. Kelland spent quite a bit of time talking with us and our pet. No unnecessary tests, cost was very reasonable and when we left we felt so much more at ease with our situation. We live in town and there are closer Vets but we were happy to drive the extra miles for the special care Foothills Animal Hospital provided. We are so glad we tried them. The staff absolutely treated my boy Buck with the upmost care and love during his visit 8/18/2023. The checked him in, immediately put him in an oxygen tank. Once he was breathing better they did X-rays and a CT scan. His heart was so big it was pushing his sternum and ribs. And there was a tumor in his heart. The staff that greeted us were very friendly and polite. We were there to get our small mixed breed dog her annual shots and needs to be pre medicated. We went right into an exam room and in a few minutes a very nice vet tech came in and greeted our dog and took a current history and presented us the estimate for treatment. We had already had her rabies vaccine so she went out and quickly returned with the adjusted quote. We agreed and she took our dog to get the premed injection. It literally took about 30 seconds. We waited for 20 minutes to allow the meds to take effect. The vet and tech returned and did a thorough check of our dog and found that she was in good shape and able to get her vaccinations. We waited 20 more minutes to make sure that there was no issues. As we left everyone from the Dr to the girls at reception said to have safe travels and we'll see you next season. Very friendly and professional to the core and for a fair price that we agreed on before care was started. read more

Huge difference than the 1800 they wanted at Foothill's. Do not go too this so called vet as they are terrible vets and only want to steal your $$ and could care less about your companion. read more

All went better than well! My 10 month old poodle is still alive because of the emergency care with a rattlesnake bite 2 days ago out on the BLM. Who ever thinks these snakes are hibernating do not take in account that we have had unseasonably warm temperatures during the day. We were hiking and the Aussies pup moved away quick, the younger poodle wanted to find out why he acted this way. We rushed her to Foothills Animal Hospital in 30 mins. They had the antidote for rattlesnake bites. It took 2 doses, IV liquids, plasma, and 2 nights of care. Biggest concern was getting her to drink water and eat. She has been in a lot of pain. We pick her up this afternoon. After all of the shock, my husband and I realized this could have been a 100 times worse if we were bitten by the rattlesnake. People out at the Senator Wash BLM, please be careful where you hike and take your animals for walks. read more

This place is great my dog had gotten attacked by a pit bull. She was bleeding everywhere. We called them and they were 5 min away from us. They told us to come in. When we got there they were very attentive. I almost thought we were going to lose her. I was so scared. The tech that came out to take her back was very understanding and told us they were going to do everything can for her. And they did. They stopped the bleeding and she went into surgery a couple of hours later. They called us as soon as they were done and told us she was doing great and that they were going to keep her overnight for observation. I was so relieved. Thank you foothills hospital. You guys are the greatest. I definitely recommend this place 100 times over. read more

I hate to be negative but in this case it's truly deserved. Terrible staff, terrible vets and they charge high prices pretending your pet needs this or that procedure! Illegal if you ask me. But how is the average pet owner to know! We don't have the education the vets do. So we accept whatever they recommend to help our pets. It's only when you get smart and go somewhere else that you realize. They take advantage, I went to Mexico instead and it was 1/10th of the price and the procedure they had recommended was not even necessary. Shame on you for using animals to make money since they don't have a voice. You should have some form of guilt but then again money is the root of all evil. Don't pretend you're trying to help the animals. read more

I really was hoping to give this business 5 stars. I have worked many years at vet offices. I know the challenges, and the excuses. The front staff was excellent. Got me checked in and in a room quickly and professionally. It was after I was in a room that things went bad. The assistant was kind and really tried to help me. I spent an hour and 10 minutes sitting in this room alone. I called my husband and was telling him I was going to just leave......when the vet came in. She spent maybe 5 minutes looking at my dogs foot while she stood next to me. I agreed to an X-ray. then waited again, when I finally went to the front and asked to pay my bill because I didn't have anymore time to wait. I was in the vet office for over an hour and a half. Paid 155.00 for the vet to just look at my dogs foot for 5 minutes. This is not normal (in my experience) for a vet office. read more

My update isn't any better then our initial few months. We are currently 13 months post surgery. Whenever we had called and mentioned he hasn't not healed they would charge us a few to look at him, we went to a different Yuma vet who also said he was probably allergic to the stitches. They ran him though a few runs of antibiotics before recommending him to a specialist in either San Diego or Phoenix. We finally took him across the border, 13-14 months post surgery, they performed surgery on him to see what was going on and they found sutures inside of him from his initial surgery, they removed them cleaned up terrible infection. He has since healed better then he ever did in that length of time. Foothills consistently charged fees and medication even after it was a surgery related issue. read more

i came here a few months ago for my dog. The veterinary lady that helped us was so unprofessional from the second she walked through the door. My dog barked when she came in cause stranger danger & the lady dramatically jumped back against the wall which triggered my dog to bark more. so they ended up putting a muzzle on her before taking her to the back. After the lady brought my dog back she went to figure out what meds/prices we would need. After a few mins she came back & was eating a snack right infront of us. like what drs eat infront of their patients especially when it's a dog ? ontop of all that their prices are insane! read more

I took my dog in for a behavioral health issue and I feel the diagnosis for the underlying cause was likely incorrect as the behavioral issue never happened again and if the vet was correct the issue would have been chronic. I was also consistently upsold on services. The cost was already expensive, but if I had followed all the vets recommendations I would have spent over 1500 dollars on an issue that ultimately solved itself. They also told me I would not have to pay for follow up x-rays when I took my dog in for a return visit to see how the issue was proceeding. I was charged for these x-rays. I understand that medical diagnoses can be as much an art form as a science especially with pets who cannot communicate their issues, but I felt the first response to an issue should not always be the most expensive treatment available. After reading the rest of the reviews I am not surprised with how I was pushed toward more expensive services at each step. The place is very clean and well kept and the service is fine, but I am pretty miffed at the pricing and the fact I was charged for services that I was told would be included in previous payments I had made. read more
