Lost our beautiful baby because of incompetence here. Problem was 100% treatable at time of visit, yet due to lack of ability to piece together our obvious concerns of non bowel movement, straining at litterbox, the blocked/compacted colon was not treated. No X-rays suggested, no laxatives' given. We did our best at home, with the "Clean health, strong heart, kidneys and liver" diagnosis, to remedy the lack of bowel movement. One month later... X-rays were IMMEDIATELY done after voicing the SAME concerns to *Yuma Veterinary Clinic* (Excellent, thoughtful, professional), when the problem became absolutely dire. COMPACTED COLON. I have used Ironwood for a number of years. I had a standard poodle when I moved back to Yuma and Ironwood took care of Jacques until his death at 16 years. My son moved in with a 109 lb golden lab husky mix "Rocky" and Ironwood took care of him until his death at 16 years. I now have a Maine Coon orange "Tazz" since he was 2 and is now 8 years old and Ironwood has kept his vaccines up to date and has been boarded several times when I was gone. There have been staff that changed but I always felt my pets were well taken care of. The facilities were clean and staff were empathetic and kind. The current staff just took care of Tazz while I attended an out of town wedding and I came back to see him happy, shampooed and nails clipped as I had requested. read more

There are feral cats in my area that come into the fully fenced yard and attack my cat. This happened a year ago and I tried this place. It was fine. They gave my cat an antibiotic shot and some pain pills and he got better. Now it is a year and a half later and the same thing happened. He's in his own yard minding his own business. He's 15 years old and not going anywhere but in the yard. I took my cat in. They put a $455.00 Treatment Plan in front of me. I am a retired senior living on social security. All I wanted was the same care as last time but they had to 'think' about not doing all the work. The doctor agreed to give my cat the shot and it cost me $150 for three minutes of his time. I like this place but they think because they are near San Diego and Los Angeles they can charge California prices. Yuma is NOT San Diego OR Los Angeles. read more

Had a dog bit by some kind of poisoness bug that took him down to drooling and vomiting in minutes. As they had a full page ad in the yellow pages that they were an emergency vet, and were only a couple blocks away, we rushed him over. As he lay hanging in my arms, still vomiting and drooling, they told us they would not see him as he was not already a client. We got him in to a vet in the foothills, and after a quick shot he recovered. What made me even more angry than the staff, were the customers waiting for appointments who sat there watching us. If it had been me as a customer waiting for an appointment time, I personally would have stood up and told the staff to reschedule me, and get their pet in. Nothing is more important than an emergency of this type. read more

Has a horrible experience with Ironwood Veterinary Clinic today. I have been a customer for almost 8 years and they have taken care of 5 of my pets. They used to be a wonderful clinic with kind and compassionate staff. The Office Manager Victoria now is horrible. Very full of herself. She didn't like my reaction (I rolled my eyes!)to her explanation of a policy and took it personally when I expressed my frustration at the costs of taking an animal to a vets now. She then decided to terminate my relationship with them and had me leave in the middle of an appointment with a potentially sick pet. Obviously the concern was not for the animal. I did not have any trouble with anyone else but her. I had no problem with the kind vet tech who took me into the exam room, Shelby. Lovely and sweet. Victoria needs to get off her high horse. They are owned by National Veterinary Associates who I have also contacted. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

STAY AWAY!! I would like to start this by saying I NEVER write bad reviews on companies. With that said, this company made receiving last minute military orders an absolute nightmare. We contacted them the moment we received orders after signing our contract to ask if they had any branches in San Diego. When they informed us that they were an independent company and had no options to transfer service, we showed them our government orders we received and told them we would need to cancel. There was immediate hostility and rudeness by management informing us we would have to pay out the remainder of the contract even though we couldn't use any of it due to being located in a different state. This amount was $959.20 for a contract we wouldn't even be using! We had an attorney send a letter stating that the Service Member Civil Relief Act protects military executing orders from continuing on leases, contracts etc., on things they had no choice but to have to leave. When we called them to inform of the legal side of it, we were answered with very rude management and responses stating "So you are still trying to not pay?" This pay is referring to services we WOULD NOT be able to use anymore. This company not only never responded to the letter written from our attorney but instead, simply sent us a "Seriously past due" letter saying we have 10 days to pay or it will be sent to collections. So to make a stressful last minute military move with our family even harder, we now have to deal with disputing this ridiculous situation and unreasonable management. read more

Its clean, front room staff are professional and manage the front room well. Tech are knowledgable for their level. My score is so low because of the vet. They asked little to no assessment question. They gave me a quote, and then when I agreed they gave my pet every medicine under the sun so they could get as much money as possible. On the second visit, they gave me a quote for a 2000 dollar surgery for an ear infection. Yep and ear infection, that I didn't ask for. They are greedy Vet clinic. read more

We have been using these people as our vet for 10 years. I will NEVER take another animal again. I have always paid for my services with cash every time at the time of service, however, I do not get paid until the 3rd of every month. one of my dogs sliced her leg open and needs stitches. I called them and told them that the muscle is exposed and she needs to get it stitched up but reminded them that I would not be able to pay until the 3rd. These heartless people turned me away. They do not care about animals there they only care about $$$. I can understand other vets that dont deal with me saying no but not the people who have been caring for my animals for 10 years. If you love your animals as much as I love mine please find a new vet. read more

I don't live here and I'm visiting family for the holidays and unfortunately my dog got into some old car fluid at my parents' house. I don't know what was in the fluid or even how she found it, but she did. I wasn't sure if my dog ingested the fluid so I called this clinic right away to ask whether or not I should bring her in and what I should do as well as what to look for. The person on the other end of the line said that if she wasn't displaying any symptoms, to go and help her excrete anything out through her bowel movements by giving her some pumpkin purée just in case. At the time, my dog was not displaying any symptoms that I could visibly notice. When I came back from the store, she had vomited and wouldn't eat any pumpkin. She continued to vomit and when I called Ironwood Vet Clinic back, they couldn't see her until the next day, which I understand bc it was an emergency and they were busy. My frustration with this clinic is they didn't initially tell me to take her in to ANY vet clinic ASAP and instead told me to give her pumpkin purée for something I believe they should have had the knowledge on how to handle. I have never dealt with this situation before so when I call a vet clinic, I look to them for their expertise and advice to help me with my dog. I didn't know that antifreeze was in the car fluid my dog ingested and if there is any question, then from now on, I'll just take my dog in right away. I went to Desert Veterinary clinic in town and they fit her in as soon as they could as it was an emergency. Turns out my dog had ethylene glycol poisoning and if I had waited for that appointment the next day with Ironwood, my dog may not be with me right now. I gave them 1 star bc although they tried to help, I feel that the people working there should have known what to direct me to do for possible antifreeze poisoning. I also felt like the concern was not for my dog's well-being but for their own profit since there was a lack of urgency or outside recommendations for me to take to ensure my dog's well-being, health and life. Due to my experience here, I probably won't be going here or calling this clinic again. Proceed with caution and if they aren't available, call other clinics in the city. read more

Super friendly staff! My husband and I recently adopted a new puppy and needed to get her first set of vaccinations ASAP. We were really nervous regarding COVID-19 because we didn't want to wait too long where we put our puppy more at risk. I gave Ironwood a call and surprisingly- the receptionist said they had an opening that same afternoon! Unfortunately we weren't able to make it that day, but we did schedule an appointment for the following morning. For COVID-19 regulations; you're supposed to call the office upon your arrival. I gave them a call and mentioned my: appointment time, pet's name, my name, phone number, and vehicle information. Since I was a new patient, they called again after a few minutes to get additional information. After five minutes, a technician arrived at my car and was super friendly! She greeted my puppy very excitedly and informed me what we'll be doing at the appointment. Before we knew it, they went into the office. After 15 minutes, Dr. Polosetski gave me a call to discuss my new puppy. He went over what they did and her overall health. He was very informative when I had a couple of questions to ask him. After five minutes, the receptionist called me again to collect payment. I paid a total of $150 for the exam, a Parvo shot, a microchip, and deworming medication. I was very surprised and pleased by the overall cost. After a few minutes, the same technician came out with my puppy. She briefly, once again, went over what they procedures they did. My puppy was sent home with some medication, so there was a cute bag filled with the medicine as well as information regarding the microchip. Overall, I'm so happy with my experience with Ironwood. I don't feel ashamed to call them with any questions, as I am a new puppy-mom, because I definitely trust their advice! :) read more

At Ironwood Dr. Polosetski began emergency procedures and decided to do his own diagnosis. He figured out my dog had a bad infection. He treated her and she recovered. New to Yuma and have been searching for the right vet care in town since last year. Work recommended me to take my furpup to Ironwood Vet. clinic, so glad I listened. Let me tell you about a staff who cares, makes you feel welcomed and heard. The place is very inviting , as soon as we walked in we were greeted by name by Lynnsie as if we had been going there for years, she is very personable and shared stories from my home town. Tech Tess listened to my concerns, is very knowledgeable, super friendly with my pup asking to give treats and spoiled her with them too. Dr. Garner introduced himself shook my hand and Tess made sure to relay all of my concerns prior. My doggy is usually cautious with males and Dr. Garner is great , he talked with her , with me , he was patient with explaining and gave my doggy a compliment for her good behavior. Thank you for the extra goodies, treats, awesome service, help, guidance and even wishing us a good holiday. We are visiting the area and our chocolate lab got stuck with vomiting & diarrhea. I didn't all morning calling every area very in Yuma, but none had available appts... even those staying they had emergency services. I was even told by one place (which had a high Yelp rating) that they could "squeeze" me in in two months!! Called Iron wood and the receptionist I spoke with was very pleasant. She started that they were booked, but talked to the doctor. They squeezed us in the same day! I was informed by her that there may be a wait. Upon arriving, the waiting area was clean and comfortable with only one other person waiting. The technician and the doctor wre both also very nice and professional. They went over our options for treatment and gave us an estimate. We opted for the basic of being medication and following up with our regular vet that is 3 hrs away. We were not pressured into additional treatment and were treated very well. We would definitely refer this place and would return here if ever needed in the future. So glad we didn't listen to dinne of the other reviews about them. read more

After calling multiple clinics closer to my home and not being able to get a same day appointment I called Ironwood and was able to get one. I recalled their name as two of my co-workers take their pets there. When we arrived, the staff was welcoming and friendly. There seemed to be a mixup regarding the appointment I made in the morning but they handled it graciously. The nurse introduced herself and was very nice. She listened to our concerns and was gentle with our sick pup. When the doctor arrived she was also very friendly. They didn't try to force us into doing unnecessary tests or costly procedures that would cause more discomfort to my dog. She did provide us with options though in case that was something we wanted to do. In the end, she prescribed steroids and asked us to come back in a week. My bill was less than $40. I actually got a $25 credit because I was referred there by two of my co-workers. They will get a credit on their next bill as well. After going, I understand why my co-worker drives from the Foothills to this clinic. Awesome experience and I would recommend them. read more

This was our first visit to Ironwood, we were referred by a friend from the dog park. Staff was pleasant and helpful. The lady doctor was very helpful, answered all my concerns and questions about my dog. I was happy my dog did not fight getting her temperature taken and receiving a shot. I would only give this veterinarian one star . if I could give it negative I would . went to take my Shepard in for allergy shots, and even though I gave them the number of her other veterinarian clinic, they apparently couldn't get all of the records due to the fact, they're just not smart enough to ask for them ,so they did a wellness check and then wanted to give her all of her shots again even though she didn't need them .the two shots, she did need that should have been Voluntary apparently "required "by their clinic and again wouldn't do the allergy shot until she had those voluntary vaccines along with another wellness check even after having one four days earlier by them . If you can't trust a Veterinary Clinic not to steal from you on such a stupid thing you can't trust them in the future not to rip you off for something else . Upon taking her to another veterinarian clinic, they gave her her allergy shot and did not recommend the voluntary vaccines with the shot due to the interactions of the different medications. They waited two weeks before they gave her the other voluntary vaccines. So not only was this clinic trying to double their wellness checks two within a week at approximately $60 they didn't know enough not to give all of the medication's at one time. definitely two thumbs down for this clinic. read more

Dr Polosetski saved my dogs life yesterday ! I wish I could put into words the gratitude I feel in my heart towards this man . My normal Vets office could not work my puppy in for an emergency visit so I called Ironwood to see if they could . The Staff there is AMAZING, they went above and beyond to work her in so the Doctor could see her . So I brought my 2 pound , five month old Pomeranian puppy " Lily" right in. To me , she looked and acted like she was literally on deaths door. I felt like she was dying in my lap as I sat in the SANATIZED EXAMINTAION ROOM THEY PREPARED FOR HER ... after examining her the Doctor determined that she was full of infection in her mouth due to multiple baby teeth that had not fallen out on their own and had apparently Abssed / gotten infected ? and so he needed to schedule emergency surgery to remove them . ....it was 5 o'clock, time for them to go home and they couldn't do surgery on her at that time , so they were going to do surgery the next day Since there was not a surgery opening for the next day he opened up a block ( canceled some of his previous obligations and scheduled her for emergency surgery the next morning ) which I greatly appreciated ....but as I was setting there after he left the room waiting for the paperwork to be brought to me I felt like she was fading away right in front of me . I asked the vet tech , " could you let the doctor know I feel like there something wrong " so he came back in the room and I told him " I feel like Lily is dying ... what if she doesn't make it until the morning " and he said " there's one thing I can do but you're not gonna like it " he said " I can pull them out without putting her under "I gratefully excepted the solution because in my heart , my instinct told me that if she got those teeth out of her mouth maybe the infection in her blood would not kill her so I gratefully excepted his kind offer to pull the teeth immediately . I left the room and he did an emergency procedure on her even though they had already scheduled the surgery the next morning I really feel he saved her life . Because when I got her home she was acting like her normal self again. She even ate ! then I brought her in today for the surgery and she was doing so well because of the emergency procedure he did on her she did not even need surgery today ! I mean he could've easily went ahead and put her under anesthesia and did the surgery but he put her interest first and he said " let's just wait until she's strong and healthy again before we schedule her for surgery for her teeth " I wish I could put into words how grateful I am to this man ! needless to say he is my " go to Vet" from this point on ! So I called today (10-09-18) to renew my dog's medication (Surolan). The current medication expires (12-01-18) and it has ONE refill remaining. I spoke to the front desk gal & she was helpful but later called me back & said the Dr. (don't know which one) REFUSED to renew my dog's prescription without another visit with the Dr. (I feel it's another unnecessary visit to get more money out of us). Anyways, I was really upset especially since I had one refill left (still within the time frame of the current expiration) & the Dr. would not honor it thinking he knows best for my dog. If your Vets can't even honor your prescription then how can I even trust the Dr. when he wants to re-examine my pet. I'm really disappointed how the Dr. treated me in this incident. Based on what happened, I would not recommend your clinic to my friends or co-workers. read more

I've used Ironwood for 8-10 years with both of my dogs. My experience has been nothing but wonderful from the moment I walked in until the moment we walked out. If I called in with an emergency the girls were compassionate about my fur babies and always made sure we got the help we needed right away. When my dog Killer had his surgeries they kept me updated since they knew how much my kids and I worried about our little fella. The vets were always wonderful and made sure I understood what was going on with both dogs. The entire staff is comprised of animal lovers. We have since moved to Colorado and the service here, while good, is not the same as the family environment we were used to at Ironwood. You are sorely missed! I have loved Ironwood through close to 25 years worth of pets. I have had great veterinarian care in emergency situations, through healthy animals to the saddest bone problems a dog could ever be born with that eventually took Rascals life after five years but under Dr. Stacks care I truly felt like she genuinely loved that boy and he had one of the best Doctor's in Yuma that could have his back for sure! I have many good souls that passed through under Ironwood and my present two animals just Love going to their Vets @ Ironwood! As far as Bella & Penny are concerned. This place DOES NOT care about your pets! They ONLY care about their money and precious reputation. And whatever you do: DO NOT BOARD YOUR DOG HERE!!! My parents and I used to take our dogs here. Each time, this facility and it's staff got progressively worse. The last straw was when my parents boarded their happy, playful one year old puppy. I was weary of them boarding her here but they insisted on it. When they went to drop her off, they asked to see where she would be kept. The staff refused to show them and said it was standard procedure to NOT show the boarding facilities. When my parents told me this, I was floored. Every time I've boarded my dog, I was able to see the boarding facilities. My parents gave the technicians their dog's food, blanket and toys. They were gone for a total of 3 days and when they came to pick her back up, she was a matted, stinky wet mess. She was soaking wet in her own pee and her stomach looked like a balloon because she was so bloated. It was like she wasn't let out to go to the bathroom for 3 days! The food, blanket and toys that were given to the office were not used. Instead, they apparently fed her their "stock" food which she wasn't supposed to have due to stomach problems and allergies. Since this incident, she has been TERRIFIED of going to the vet. She will shake uncontrollably and start to dry heave. She was never like this before the boarding experience. When my parents had one last appointment there before they moved out of town and she was given a sedative so strong (for being "dangerous and aggressive" when she was just scared to be back in a place that traumatized her), she was unable to walk out of the office and had to be carried. While this was happening, two girls behind the front desk were laughing at us as we carried our dog outside. My mom couldn't take it and started to cry- so thanks for that reception girls. While this was going on, my dad and sister were trying to talk to the vet about the medicine she was given but he just blew them off in front of the entire waiting room. ("I already saw your dog. I'm busy. You can Google it.") While their dog is still alive and healthy, I will never be able to erase any of the unprofessional, greedy and unethical behavior used by this establishment. read more

Worst vet ever!! Do not go here!! My dog had surgery here 2 weeks ago and they told me I had to bring him in for dressing changes every couple days that would cost me more than $50 a visit ( on top of the almost $300 that I already paid for a 10 minute surgery) and I told them I would change the dressings myself since I am a nurse. At his 2 week check up to take the stitches out I was told he needs another $150 surgery because I didn't change the dressings good enough. The dr. Repeatedly told me it was all my fault. Dr. Perry was extremely rude and unprofessional and almost had me in teads, I will never go back!! Not to mention they never examine your pet in front of you, and if you ask to be there they tell you that you aren't allowed in the back..really??! read more

If I could give no stars, I absolutely would. This business does not care about your animals, all they seem to care about is their money and reputation. After providing them with our animal's FULL medical history, they still over vaccinated him...twice. When I called to find out if they had the medical history, the first person I spoke to said they did, and recited off the list. When I spoke to the office manager, they "magically" never had the full medical history. And made excuses as to why this was the case. Regardless of whether these double vaccinations were harmless to my pet, the office staff, office manager, and veterinarian should still be help responsible. They're negligent with paperwork, and the care of animals. We entrust vet clinics, and their staff, to offer the best medical care for our animals. They are the specialists. I took my dog here months ago. I paid the bill when I left the vet that day. Today, I got a call from a collection agency saying I owe $67. I called the vet and they said they didn't charge me enough when I left the visit. Seriously? The vet was nice, but their office and billing practices are terrible. I will never return. read more

I don't understand the negative reviews here; this place is very friendly and very professional. When I first adopted a dog from HSO Yuma they were able to get me in on very short notice, did everything I asked of them, and were very sweet with my shy, skittish rescue dog. It's a nice, easily accessible facility and I've had nothing but positive interactions with the staff. Plus they have a pet pals program where if you're referred by another customer or vice versa, you get a credit on your account. Pretty cool. read more

My two pets,Mr. Nibblesworth (cat) and Annie (dog) both go here for the Veterinary Care. The people who work the front desk are wonderfully polite. The doctor my pets see seems to be extremely educated and knowledgeable, and does not hesitate to explain to me things in very understandable words (Barney-Style).
