This place is god awful and I hope the city does something about it ASAP. It's more dirt than park and when there is grass, the choice of plant leaves your dog COVERED in grass seeds. My dog ran around for not more than 15-20 minute and was coated in grass seeds all over his legs. Maybe for a dog that doesn't play or run, or a dog without long fur this would be an ok park but honestly this is an awful plant choice for a dog park. I would not recommend this to anyone that doesn't want to spend an extra hour at home bathing or combing their dog. read more

Really aggressive dogs. The regulars have formed a pack mentality and tend to bully newcomers, to the point I left. Now I'm not some tea-cup poodle owner. I have a collie, who's well socialized and can hold his own with large breeds. But 4 on 1 just isn't fair, and within minutes he had his tail between his legs. And was being boxed in from all sides and bitten around the neck. Simply put, the owners that comprise the "regulars" are too lazy to get up and discipline their dogs when they step out of line. Instead, the owners like to sit back and make half-hearted comments without purpose. Creates a very unpleasant environment. Shame to see such a great park soiled with such owners. read more

Great park to start your runs or rides from. This park is always clean and I am impressed how well the grass has stayed green. The path is a little confusing to the SW so make sure you do a map recon before you head out. Otherwise you get forced to turn around. read more

I love this park. I take my dog here quite often since it's so close to where I live. The people are friendly, my only complaint are those that take unaltered dogs into the park or who have dogs in the park that are wearing prong collars. For the most part the area is clean and large enough to allow for lots of play. There's also a 1.5 mile trail to the side of the park that leads to the skate park. It's nice to walk my dog taking the trail to the dog park and allow him a reward of off leash play afterward. There is a playground separate from the dog park area that is perfect for children and several nice walking paths. The rules for the dog park area are posted and it's closed on Wednesdays. read more

Foothills Park in North Glendale, AZ is a more than just a dog park!!! This park has a skate park, an aquatic center / fitness center, baseball/softball fields and a branch of the Glendale Public Library. On the north side of the park is the Foothills branch of the Glendale Public Library. Here in 2011 this branch has started closing earlier a couple days a week and they are now closed on Thursdays and Sundays. You can still request books online to be transferred to this branch for your convenience. The dog park was recently expanded with a new section of dog run that connects the front of the park on 57th Ave with the back of the park behind the library. Parts of the dog park are closed a day a week for maintenance, but part of the park is open every day. The baseball fields are the area of the park I use the most. Arrowhead Little League (www.ArrowheadLL.com) is based at this park and they play two seasons - Spring and Fall. The City of Glendale also runs baseball and softball programs at this park. A playground sits on the South side of the baseball fields, just North of the wash. The Aquatic Center (www.glendaleaz.com/foothillscenter/) has an outdoor pool with slides and lap pools. There's a fitness center indoors with all the equipment of a normal gym plus a rock climbing wall and full indoor basketball court. The kids love to hang out at the rec center. Me and my baby were kicked out of the backyard today for about an hour, so I decided to try out a nearby dog park that I heard about from Ryan C. You can't access this place from Union Hills though due to the construction. The best way to get there is via Utopia and 59th Ave, like you're going onto the Midwestern campus. There's two sides to the park currently, both are off leash zones, one is located to west of the ball park and a much larger one to the east, which is separated into lil' dog and big dog territory. Today, Ma and I spent most of our time on the west side, but then took a short trip to the other side just to be nosy. I was surprised at how deserted it was out there today 5pm really wasn't all that hot out there, especially with the benches in the shade. But I guess it was a good thing there was no one out there because I was reciting muscle and muscle movements out loud while Alice-ma rolled about in the grass. A&P is my life right now what can I say...You know you would look at me funny if I was saying "Pectoralis Minor protracts the scapula" while moving my shoulders in an odd manner. Next time I will remember to take Alice out her own water dish, because she wanted to be a snob and not drink from the dishes and buckets already out there on the eastern side. She didn't learn that behavior from me. read more

I came to this dog park after reading the good reviews on Yelp, and thought I'd come to the wrong place. The small dog side was absolutely tiny, six inches deep in mud, and smelled awful. If it's an option at all, go to Rose-Mofford instead - those are the largest enclosures I've ever seen in a city dog park, and while it does sometimes get a little mucky in the middle, at least there's room for the dogs to run. I gave two stars instead of one because the other dogs (and owners) were friendly, and the paved walking trail around the complex was very nice. read more

Nice Dog park has covered areas with benches and non covered bench seating.. also a couple agility stairs ... grass is dead / no winter grass but kept clean and a good size. Quiet NA food the Main Street hidden behind so little traffic when we came. There were a few tennis balls laying around which was nice once we forgot ours and they have a big dog area and a little dog area too!!! Lots of fun :) lots of watering stations! I love this dog park! The only reason I am giving it 4 out 5 stars is because it is a little hard to find. Other than that it's a fun place with a lot of regulars and new comers if you get there early enough. It's always closed on Wednesday's which I learned the hard way haha. Great place to hang out with your pooches. The crowd is generally mellow and the dogs adorable. MY 2 dogs love it . Extra perks are the doggie obstacle area if you are into that . This is our local dog park (the nearest other dog park is 5 miles away). I've come here on and off for 20 years and am mystified why Glendale continues to ignore the problems here. Yes, they rotate East and West dog parks, but the east side has no grass and no shade while the west side has grass and shade but is loaded with tiny grass seed that is nearly impossible to get out of a long haired coat. This park has the potential to be the premiere dog park in the west valley, but the lack of maintenance and improvements continues it's decline. It's closed all day Wednesdays for maintenance but it's clear they only empty the trash and mow what little lawn there is. read more

My pup, Olive and I love to go to this dog park. I think my favorite part about this dog park is the fact that they have the regular dog park, that has a cool obstacle course, and then they have a separate section for little dogs only. It's great because Olive is a small, 12-pound, Papipoo and gets a little intimidated by bigger dogs. She loves to run in the grass and play with other dogs. I can tell she really enjoys herself. The people that take their dogs here are also usually very friendly and everybody has a good time. read more

This dog park is incredibly close to our home, so of course we chose to take our 5-month-old puppy here first. Overall, I love this park best out of all the ones we have been to. The only reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars is because of the people you occasionally encounter at this park. Out of all the parks we have gone to, this is the one where the most incidents have happened. We have only been going here for a couple weeks and witnessed quite a few run-ins among pet owners who simply don't follow the rules. The good far outweighs the bad, though, and we have made a lot of friends here. So has our puppy! We enjoy meeting up with the "regulars" and will definitely continue coming! read more

I really like that, unlike some dog parks, the dog owners pick up after their dogs and dispose of properly. I came in at 9:30 am with my 4 months ols retriver. We played in the big boys park. There were something like 15 dogs at that time all dog and owner are really friendly. The park is big enough and have an obsticle course in it. Onlt flae is the water fountain that was dirty and barly gave water out. Other than that great park. read more

Not much more you can ask for in a dog park. There are actually 4 dog parks at this loacation. They rotate 2 at a time so that they can keep them clean and dry. They have 2 smaller ones for the small dogs and 2 bigger ones for the big dogs. There is plenty of room to run around in both. They have some fun little dog optical course in one of the bigger ones. There isn't a while lot of grass but there is grass. There is plenty of water, waste bags, and pooper scoopers. I take my dogs almost every weekend when the weather is nice and they love it. I have never had any problems. Once in a while it get's a little muddy and my little guys need a bath when they get home but hey... its all in good fun. read more

Not much grass, mostly dirt; however, it has been raining for the past few days so I'll give an updated review once the puddles dry. The dog park is divided into two sections: Big dogs and Small dogs. The drinking fountain doesn't seem to be operating so people bring in buckets of their own water. Dog bags are donated by residents. There are several obstacle equipments for the dogs to play on, and there are plenty of benches throughout the park to sit on. The parking area is right next to the public library and is a short walking distance. read more

I will not be returning to this park ever again!!!! The GROUP of people in the evening that comes with their unruly dogs is absolutely ridiculous!!!! On Tuesday, September 18, 2012 my son was doing what all bored little boys do; making a trail in the dirt.... When this lady's dog Rocko who is part of the Group decided he didn't like him and started to lunge, bark and growl at my child.... I immediately told my child (who wasn't very far from me) to come back because I saw the dog was being very aggressive.... When my son started back over to me the dog began to follow getting closer and closer to him (still barking and growling).... When the dog began to run towards him my son took off screaming for me.... I stood up and before I got to my son the dog grabbed him by the waist and tried to take him down (ripping his shirt, shorts and underwear around his waist along with skin)... I grabbed my son and asked very loudly at the group "Who's dog is this?!?!" several times (while the dog continued to try and get at my son, lunging and barking).... No one answered me, they all acted as if I had no voice and the dog wasn't doing anything..... I was absolutely appalled by this and decided that if they weren't going to speak to me then they would have to speak to the police.... The GROUP then proceded to try and sneak the woman out of the park with her dog.... I would like everyone that reads this post to know that I had NO intention to call the police I just wanted to yell at the woman/ man who's dog it was and tell them to watch their dog or leave.... And I will be the first to tell you that if my son was doing anything to antaganize a dog and the dog bit him that I would have just told my child "well that's what happens when you tease dogs" but on this occassion my son did NOTHING to provoke this dog... I'm sure I will get some sort of post on here about how this isn't true so to prove it here is my Glendale Police Report number 12-92344... Check it out yourself... read more

My wife and I recently moved to the area and love this dog park. We weren't able to take our dog to the local dog parks when we lived in Hawaii due to them being so gross and the other dogs being so aggressive. Most of the dogs brought here are well mannered and get along well with the other dogs, plus the owners are friendly and like to strike up a conversation. Give it a try as there is a lot of space and plenty of fuzzy friends for your companion to play with. read more

I love the dog park here. They have two areas, one for small and one for large dogs. They also have two different areas that they alternate every month. This gives each area a month to recuperate from a month of dogs and people. It is fairly small compared to other parks. For us that's great because it's easier to keep an eye on the dogs and socialize with the people. There are a lot of regulars and the regulars are very responsible. read more

After moving to North Phoenix last week, I was looking for a new place to take my corgi since he loves the dog park. I found Foothills Park on google maps and decided to try it out. I was pleasently surprised by this dog park. It has two seperate parks connected by the entrance area. One is a big open area and has some obstacle courses. The second is a smaller grassy area for small dogs. When we arrived, I was surprised by the amount of big dogs there. There were at least eight big dogs playing and having fun. When I brought my dog in, they all came up and checked him out, but none of them were aggressive or bullies to him. The owners were friendly and my dog seemed to enjoy the place. The obstacle course is simple, great for a newbie dog. As we were there, at least twelve more dogs showed up. Since half of them were smaller dogs, people began migrating to the small dog area. The small dog area is nice for the dogs that get nervous around the bigger pups, but it seems to be lacking. The obstacle course is definitely designed for smaller to medium sized dogs, yet there are no obstacles on the small dog side. Other than that, its a nice break for the small pups. Foothills Park is a great place for anyone in the NW valley looking for a place to take their dog. People are friendly and clean up after their dogs, the dogs are nice and friendly, and its in a beautiful area. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area. read more

My little guy loves this park! He likes to be able to run around without a leash and sniff other dogs. I love that there are two off leash areas, one for big dogs and one for small dogs. It loses a star because it has more dirt and red ants than other nearby parks. I guess that's nature for you! read more

This park is beautiful and has shade and seating for dog owners. My dog had a great time there and spent quite a bit of time rolling in the dirt and grass with other dogs. Being a Poodle, his fur is like a mop and sucks up anything he is in contact with. For example, when a woman with perfume on her hands pets him, I can smell it for days in his fur. Why am I telling you this? Because... When we left this park he reeked of chemicals. I don't know if it was pesticides or fertilizer but it was very, very strong. This park has 2 sides so they can alternate them and keep the place from just becoming a pile of dirt or mud. I think perhaps they are putting A LOT of chemicals on the ground with good intentions but NO thought to its effect. I am giving a one star review to call attention to something that should concern all dog lovers. This park is toxic to all who enter, but especially to the pups who are padding around on the chemicals and absorb it through their feet, roll in it and get it all over themselves, lick and sniff everything on the ground and breath in and ingest the poisons. read more

Great dog park! Way better than the grovers & cave creek park. Grovers always seems like a giant herd of obnoxious dogs with unattentive owners, this park is way better though a little smaller than grovers. They have an obstacle course and lots of well shaded benches instead of broken chairs. It's well taken care of too. read more

This dog park is disgusting and i do not recommend it at all. There is poop everywhere. There was no water fountains for the dogs. There were homeless people sleeping on the benches in the large dog park. The actual park is nice but unfortunately the dog park is horrible. The areas that actually looked decent were locked. This review is in regards to the DOG PARK ONLY. The moment I stepped foot near the gate I felt like my experience was not going to be good. The yard area was tiny. One log strip of grass with a few "training" tools. Most of the area was taken up by massive concrete benches for the people to sit. I felt this park was not initiating the play time between dog and owner but more of what makes the owner comfortable while watching their dog - much like a distant parent watching a 2 year old. I was disappointed in the set up- let alone there was mud everywhere from the buckets of drinking water. There needs to be more expansion to let the dogs run more freely, a more efficient drinking area to prevent mud accumulation and less concrete eye sores. A few benches with shade (think bus stop or park) would have been sufficient. The park's intention should have been beneficial to the dogs not the people. I think the whole intention of this park was backwards in the making. read more
