I was a little embarrassed that I was on my last pair of contacts and have had trouble taking them out myself. When I made the appointment, I explained this to the young lady at the front desk, but I imagined it would all be forgotten by the time I showed up for the appointment. I was wrong. The same young lady was there and had prepared for my circumstances. Unfortunately, I don't know her name to give her a shout out - but she is an African-American woman likely in her 20s. The doctor took her time with me to answer questions and ensure a good fit for my contacts, including giving me a new pair right then. Avoid this place and find an honest, reputable place. Prices here are way above other visionworks stores and their information is incorrect. We will not return to this saugus visionworks. Had 2 terrible encounters with the same staff. The women sales clerks change guarantees and stories from customer to customer. You cannot believe the women sales people. Find a place you can trust. I don't know which is worst - Rudeness or Unprofessionalism. I go to pick up my glasses the store closes at 7 I arrive at 6:30 the gate is closed and I am forced to speak with someone through the gate. She only let me in because I was picking up my glasses. BUT the store closes at 7! read more

My husband and I went there for a yearly eye exam and it didn't seem organized at all. We walked in and there was worker in the lobby assisting an elderly couple so we waited, but we ended up waiting for nearly 30 minutes before anyone even spoke to us. The worker that was in there didn't even acknowledge us. Someone finally came to the front and it took us forever to get checked. Once we were checked in, we just stood there because no one told us where to go, it took the worker about 15 minutes before she finally told us where to go to wait for the doctor. The doctor was quite pleasant and we were very pleased with her, but after the exam, it took us another 30-45 minutes to check out. We didn't even get glasses/contacts at the appointment. read more

This company (Visionworks) moves the eye doctors around from one location to another, so if you want to establish a relationship with your doctor, too bad. Visionworks is a chain; this location is inside the Square One Mall. This office is not an individual doctor's private practice. The doctors are not owners, they are just employees, at the mercy of Visionworks' corporate directors. I did not realize any of this when I booked there. I put the address into my GPS and was surprised to arrive at a mall. I attended my appointment. When it came time to book my follow-up, they told me the doctor I had just seen was leaving, and my followup would be with another doctor. I was not pleased with this, as the second doctor would know nothing about me besides what the first doctor had written. I noted this, and left. Later, a worker at the store called to discuss my options. One option they offered was to reverse the insurance claim (reinstate my benefit) and refund the cash I paid for the contact lens exam, so I could go elsewhere. I give one star back in my review, for this courtesy. Still, my experience at Visionworks was a waste of time. I recommend against agreeing to this kind of McDonalds drive-thru medical care, especially for something as critical as your vision! For the health of your eyes, go to a doctor's private practice, or to a hospital or health care center, not to a retail shop in a mall. read more

So unprofessional. I recently went for an exam, after have to fight for the fact I didn't want to order contact at the time because I needed new glasses they made it impossible for me to get contacts. Not only did the doctor not even sign my prescription making it usable she put numbers in that don't exist in contacts. After both the company I was ordering from as well as myself reaching out numerous times and being told things such as my prescription is expired (it was dated two month prior) and they had no records of me (clearly a lie). Definitely will never go back especially since I am still fighting to get a correct prescription in order to order contacts. read more

I should have listened to the reviews. My experience with visionworks was not a good one. I went to get a prescription for contact lenses. I met the doctor and felt rushed through the exam. Then I took a contact fitting class. The woman didn't have nice things to say about her colleagues but other than that she was really cool if we were at a bar drinking Long Island ice teas at a hole in the wall. But not in this setting. After I was given 2 different lenses to trial for a week while they withheld my prescription. While waiting I listened to another woman working there speak negatively about a different customer. When I was setting up another appointment I was told I had to choose my lenses right there. What was the trial lenses for then? I went through 1800 contacts and did an exam through them with the numbers on the trial lenses. Better service. Cheap since I wanted a lens not covered by insurance. When I went back for them to release my prescription I told the doctor I got my preferred lens through 1800 contacts. She wasn't kind. My advice. Go to a mom and pop optometrist and get your prescription there. Then buy glasses or contacts elsewhere. I will Never go back to visionworks. You shouldn't either. read more

Very rude staff. Scheduled an appointment over a month ago for my daughter because they were so booked and it was the earliest the could get her in. I receive a phone call from a nasty woman and she tells me that she needs the last 4 numbers of her fathers SSN in order to get our insurance which made no sense. Why couldnt they have the decency to ask for the SSN the day i made the appointment which was over a month ago. What idiot calls and tells me 15 MINUTES before their store closes that if I dont provide them with my ex husbands SSN that the appointment will be cancelled? Wow. This was the best customer service experience I have ever had while buying glasses (and I've been wearing them since the second grade). After being turned off by overly aggressive LensCrafters sales women I decided to try Visionworks. I instantly found a pair that I liked and Patrick sat down to help me. They do not accept my insurance (eyemed) but he offered to price them out for me and then wrote down all of the information and model number so that I could go upstairs to LensCrafters to price them with my insurance. LensCrafters employee was pretty uninterested when I told her that I just wanted a price. Turns out it was MORE money with my insurance at LensCrafters by almost $50!! So I usually go to Lenscrafters at the Square One Mall for glasses. They are pricey but I like their frames. I needed new glasses so I went to Lenscrafters like usual, but I noticed that Visionworks had moved in right upstairs from the Lenscrafters store. I didn't have a prescription so I needed an exam too. The people at LensCrafters just straight up ignored me! I lingered around at the desk for about 5 minutes and finally someone from the back came out and said "hey what's up?" They were nice enough but not very professional. I wanted to get glasses that day but they didn't have a doctor in so I was kind of stuck. I decided to go upstairs and see if Visionworks had a doctor that could see me. As soon as I walked in I was welcomed with a "Welcome to Visionworks how can we help you?" The girl at the desk listened to what I needed and said they did have a doctor and I could be seen within 30 minutes! I had my exam (pretty standard exam) and when I came out two people were waiting to help me with picking out frames. We tried on like a million of them, and found two that I liked. They have a BOGO so I got one pair free, and the price was about what I pay for one pair at LensCrafters! So an hour later I came back and both of my glasses were ready for me, they fit them to my face and made sure they were straight (I have crooked ears) I really love the glasses I got here, haven't had any problems with them and I get compliments all the time. I will not be going back to LensCrafters just so I can get Ray-Bans, it's just not worth the money you have to spend and now I don't look like everybody else which is nice. I definitely recommend this shop mostly because of the good prices and the people who work there actually want to help you with everything instead of ignoring you and hoping you go away. read more

I went to Visionworks Saugus to get the nose pads on my current glasses fixed and check out the promotion to buy 2 pairs progressive for $99. I was greeted by Sarah Alfano and my experience was exceptional from start to finish. She took my current glasses and fixed the nose pads (I did not buy these from Visionworks). She helped pick out frames and made recommendations on the lenses. She was a joy to work with. I took advantage of the special and look forward to picking up my glasses this week. read more

Gentleman working at VisionWorks could not have been more professional, friendly, and helpful - and the replacement frames he found us were very reasonably priced. All-around great experience. Found out through my Insurance that Vision Works offered a better deal on frames and their selection was second to none. So I took my prescription there and I was not disappointed. If you can't find frames there then you are definitely a difficult person to please. The Rep I worked with was very knowledgeable and explained all of the different types of lenses and options that I had. I ordered 2 pairs of glasses, 1 being prescription sun glasses. It took around 10 days for the glasses to come in. I am very happy with the experience and the quality of my glasses. I highly recommend giving Vision Works a look. read more

I went to VisionWorks in Square One Mall because I always went to Sears with no problems but Sears no longer does eyes. Went to eye Dr and got RX for glasses. Went to VisionWorks picked out frame and loved it. Frame was $139.00 and I liked the lenses in them because they were small. Told the guy that I hope you can get my progressive lens in these small lenses, no problem he says. Two weeks I go to get my glasses and guy was busy with customers so I sat done to wait. No problem got no place to go. This girl comes over hands me my glasses and says read, so I read. But I wondered shouldn't someone check to make sure they are adjusted. My cousin even asked girl do you give cloth to clean glasses. No she said. RED FLAG! Got home, had a problem seeing out of left lens and then I looked into my mirror and the lenses were not the lenses that were in the frames I picked out. To me they look like windshields. They cost me $459 and I didn't get what I wanted. Right lenses looks like a coke bottle and left lenses is really thin. I'm gonna go and see my eye Dr at BI Hospital and have her check to see what they did wrong. I don't even want to go back I'm so angry. I feel like I was taken for almost $500. My cousin who's older than me got frams for same amout and progressives and it cost her $250. I knew I should have went to another place that has better reviews. read more

I've been a customer of other Visionworks locations, and have always had pleasant experiences- the Square One Mall was no exception. Had a fairly standard visit with the doctor, and sat with Taylor afterwards to go over contacts and lense options. She was more than attentive, and took her time to thoroughly explain all options my insurance would cover. Additionally, she adjusted my current frames for me. While I wasn't impressed by the other associates in there (texting, on the phone, etc) I would certainly be happy to work with Taylor again. read more

I purchased regular plastic glasses there prior since they're one of few locations that take my insurance. I walked in about a month ago and was barely greeted but that was not a problem because I knew the style of glasses I wanted. I looked around and once I was ready to sit down with the optometrist (which I really doubt she was), I inquired about progressive because I never had one before. She gave me one price for the complete pair. I asked if she can give me a breakdown of the price to see if I really needed all what she was offering, she sighed as if I am bothering her. Still I need to know what I was paying for. I completed the purchase and left, picked up the glasses a week later when I received their call. However, everything was blurry when I first put them on. The same girl told me since I never had progressive lenses, it will take a while to get used to them. I took her word for it and left. 10 days later, I was getting headaches, I still could not see unless I pulled the glasses down halfway on my nose. I called and they said to bring them back. I go in and a different optometrist said "wow, they're too high, you can't see through these". so basically they messed up the measurements big time. I asked if at all possible to pick them up 5 days later since I was going on vacation. Of course was the answer - we will do our best. I call 3 days later, and low and behold, I'm told my glasses might not be ready for another 2 weeks. Why??? because they are running a promotion.
