I hired Brian to come to my son's 9th birthday and present his snakes to 10 very active boys. They were very engaged in the beginning informational part of his presentation. I had worried about them sitting still during this part, but Brian is very good at keeping their attention. He introduced his snakes to the boys one by one, and then basically laid them out on the table for the boys to touch or hold as they wanted to. All but two of the boys were brave enough to handle the snakes, and some "wore" them for a long time. I thought it was great how interactive the presentation was and that the boys were free to gently handle the snakes as much as they wanted. It was a really fun, different birthday party, and I would highly recommend Brian for any type event. I thought his rate was pretty reasonable, compared to some other parties that I've hired people for. He was very good at communicating via e-mail beforehand, and prompt. read more

WOW was this an awesome Birthday Experience!!! Brain really puts on an amazing presentation. PRO's: -Very nice guy -Great with kids -Cool facts about his life with animals and about the ones he has -Birthday person was part of presentation, showing some of the snakes around -Gentlest Creatures I have seen -very neat variety of snakes and reptiles. -Makes your time fun and exciting -Your whole party gets a chance to handle the snakes -If you are scared of snakes, there is no pressure to hold, touch etc. CON's: -We didn't want it to end and it had to. I must say, I am not a fan of snakes unless they are behind thick glass. As I watched Brian hold and tap on the snakes, talk to them, talk about them, etc., I learned some really neat facts. I was still not comfortable holding or touching one, HOWEVER, I did feel comfortable being close to them. Brain was super encouraging to each and every one of us, but also reminded people to make sure to not get close to those who are scared. It is a really low key, upbeat entertainment. I would love to do this again! (p.s. at this party we had a particularly unique group of kids, most were on the autism spectrum ranging from 5- 11 years old. We did keep it rather small, but Brain was so patient and caring, as I feel he is with all kids. So if you are hesitant about it, just communicate your concerns and we will work with it). read more

Brian came out to our school yesterday and gave us a fantastic show. He brought a variety of animals and gave both useful educational knowledge and a wonderful hands on presentation. Everybody loved it, kids and adults. He knew what he was talking about, and most important he made everybody comfortable. The best part of the show was his interaction with folks who were a little scared to those who were a lot scared of snakes. At our show he had a Tegu (big lizard in the photo below, and a albino Burmese python) He started with small ball pythons and a small skink (lizard) and worked up to the big guys. Everybody, and I mean everybody ended up interacting with the big animals. We had three adults who started off in the farthest corner possible hold the Burmese draped on their bodies. And interesting, some of the folks who thought the snakes were terrifying thought the big ole' lizard was fantastic. Brian is a first rate guy, with a fantastic show. Our first introduction to Brian and his amazing snakes was early this year when he did a presentation at our son's preschool. I HIGHLY recommend anyone looking to purchase a snake talk to this expert breeder before anyone else - especially before going to a pet store. We also threw the best birthday party EVER thanks to Brian. We had Brian host our son's 8th birthday party and it was pretty much the most incredible day of his life as well as the lives of all the second graders who joined him. I would call Brian the snake whisperer...for some reason snakes and reptiles don't bite or get scared in his presence, and he puts a room at ease (which took twice as much effort for me)....every child and adult at the party had a snake around their neck at one point. Since my son has been obsessed with snakes for several years - and asking for one daily, we finally caved in and let my son have a pet snake. For some reason we had forgotten about Brian Gundy as a breeder and impulsively ran to the nearest pet store as soon as we had made the big decision. We purchased a Ball Python. This snake was a nightmare - it bit my son and would charge and strike at the glass of the cage non-stop - for example, if you so much as walked into the room. We called Brian out of desperation. Brian came over to our house (from Campbell to Palo Alto) out of the goodness of his heart to help us. He gave us the education and many tips we needed. At the end of the day, the snake had most likely been captured in the wild and was just extremely shy/scared and was never going to make a good pet for my son. He was devastated. My husband and I eventually decided we needed to give the python over to a rescue center (the store will not take it back). We then decided to give it one more shot. We went to Brian's house and he spent over 2 hours with him - he was letting my son hold just about every snake in the place before we decided on the baby boa constructor. We were thoroughly educated on the differences between ball pythons and boa constrictors and know we made the right choice for my son. I have never seen my son so happy and the boa (who he named "Leslie" because (it's Brian's middle name...sorry Brian hope you don't mind my sharing) is comfortable, happy and just so calm in her new home. Despite my fear of snakes, I would actually call her "lovable". Brian, you are our hero! We recommend anyone interesting in buying any animal go with a breeder who can educate you. Brian and his reptiles were a big hit at Art & Science Day at my daughter's elementary school. He spent an hour talking about and showing a half-dozen snakes and two lizards, including a large tegu from Argentina. The kids were intrigued and a lucky few got to have their cheek liked by an Australian blue-tongued skink. Later, I was blindfolded and heard the kids scream when he brought out the tegu to lick my cheek - it's tongue was very soft! My sister hired Brian for my nephew's 9th birthday party. I swear I, as a grown mother of two, have never had more fun at a party! (Kid or otherwise :)) It was incredible to watch my 6 month old child touch and pat a tegu or a ball python, excited as can be and without a trace of fear. My four year old was not so excited, but after a while agreed to touch all of the animals, and ended the party less uncomfortable with reptiles. Brian Gundy of For Goodness Snakes presented his Snake Show at our son Adrian's 5th birthday party earlier today, and as his flier says, "it was the highlight of the party." We saw Brian's show at a birthday party two years ago, and again last year at the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History. Adrian got to hold some snakes at the museum and has been pestering me all year to bring the snake man to his next birthday party. I'm so glad we did! There were about 11 kids (boys and girls aged 3 - 8), and their parents, all crammed into our very small living room, but it worked out great and everyone was riveted. I didn't have to persuade the kids to settle down; they were sitting on chairs and giving Brian their rapt attention from the moment he descended our stairs with his box. As others have noted, all he needs is a table, and his whole set up is very clean, easy and mobile. He cleaned up after himself to the extent that once he packed them away, you wouldn't have known that there were reptiles in our living room. The kids transitioned to food and cake with no problem. A few words about what makes this reptile show special: 1. Brian is primarily an educator, and he knows how to relate to the "warm blooded" as well as the cold. He was genuinely interested in all of our questions and reactions and took delight in our handling his babies. You wouldn't be able to guess that he's done this show hundreds of times already--his enthusiasm is fresh and genuine. 2. He's especially great with kids and knows how to sense what kind of experience each kid needs. Our son, Adrian, was completely fearless and excited, and Brian was very attentive to his comfort level, giving the kinds of directions that young kids can relate to. 3. In addition to being an educator, Brian is a showman. He doesn't just talk like a "National Geographic" article, but makes it exciting for the lay person's enjoyment, complete with gag tricks on the parents, and a few surprises. I am recommending Brian's show to all the parents I know in hopes that they will hire him for birthday parties because we would love to see this show again. Best of all, our son is walking around the house with three toy snakes wrapped around him pretending to be Brian--he says he wants to go to snake school so he can become a snake teacher like Brian when he grows up :-) read more
