Absolutely amazing! I can't believe I'm saying that about snakes and reptiles because I've always said they aren't my thing. My 6 year old really wanted snakes at his birthday and I'm so glad multiple people told me about Brian. From the moment he arrived I felt the energy shift. As I walked the floor of the Bird Mart event, still chuckling about the intelligence of having a cat show next to a bird show, I came upon a table covered with big snakes and what appeared to be a large monitor lizard. Although I was surprised, I quickly realized that they were all very tame and extremely well-behaved so they did not pose any threat to the birds at all. It turned out that this exhibitor was a company called For Goodness Snakes. They do educational programs to teach and introduce children (and children of all ages) to the world of reptiles. They also do fun corporate events, festivals, and birthday parties. The guy working the event, whom I believe was the owner, Brian Gundy, was really cool and let me pick up and handle one of his snakes. It's been years since I've done anything like this so it surprised me for a moment when I realized that the snakes were cold as I had forgotten that they were cold-blooded. For some reason, I'm at a loss for words this time, but for me, holding it was pretty neat. Truly a great concept which combines fun and education for today's youth, especially in this day and age where oftentimes the closest a child comes to a snake or reptile is an image on the internet. Yes, me, the one with the snake fear. I am giving a 5 star review! For goodness snakes was the speaker at the Cub Scout blue and gold dinner. I had planned to show up after their time slot, but at the last minute I decided to go. I freaked out when Brian started uploading his snakes to plexiglass boxes. But I managed to stay in my seat, somehow. Brian's talk was really good. I managed to go within a couple of feet of the snakes at the end of the hour to get a picture of my son happily holding Whitey. The plan was to pet one, but I did not manage to do that. My daughter requested to have Brian Gundy at her birthday party after seeing his presentation at her elementary school. We don't typically do birthday parties but she brought home the flyer with all of the information so I looked into it. I was sold after seeing the name of the company, "For Goodness Snakes" - I love that the name is so positive rather than demonizing of the reptiles like everything else you see in mainstream media, Hollywood, etc. so we went ahead and booked the party! That first impression I had, that this would be a lesson not only in how to care for and handle snakes, but to show their true nature which is far from evil and scary, was spot on. How to you keep a roomful of 5 year old boys mesmerized, parents laughing, and everyone entertained and learning for over an hour? Hire Brian! We had him come to our son's 5th birthday and it was a huge success! He was so great with the snakes, but he was just as good with the kids. He made sure to go at a pace in which everyone was comfortable. If you plan to hire him for a party, here are a couple of tips. Tip #1: Schedule for him to arrive around 30 minutes AFTER your party starts. This will ensure that most of your guests have arrived before Brian gets there. This is important because Brian's show/presentation is carefully designed to "wean" everyone in, so that your guests aren't overwhelmed by walking into a roomful of snakes. Tip #2: You may want to get a disposable tablecloth for your table. As well trained as these snakes are, I don't think they are potty trained.
