From Texas to LA,…read more Preview Models, A year in the making. Preview Models is a platform built to connect Models and Agents/Managers in the Entertainment industry. Beginning in Fall 23', models from all over the US were scouted though online and in-person castings to determine who would be invited to Los Angeles for a 4 day all-inclusive Model Bootcamp and fashion experience. We were given the opportunity to walk in a high-end fashion showcase, shoot a commercial reel tape, pose for editorial photoshoots, attend acting classes, and meet with over 30 agents and mangers across the TV/Film/Commercial/and Modeling world. In addition to the LA trip, we were invited to participate in online seminars throughout the year that involved up close and personal conversations surrounding the entertainment industry as a whole, specific questions and examples as it related to agents and managers, and learn how to book commercials or recurring roles on shows. My overall experience was fantastic to say the least. Meeting models from all over the country was a joy itself, and it really speaks to the power of community when you are surround by people who share the same drive as you do. Throughout our classes I learned more about myself then I thought I would.... I thought I was only interested in modeling when I came in, but I left having a new found interest in exploring acting for myself. Although my critiques were good, I learned how much anxiety I have internally when it comes to "preforming" and memorizing scripts. I realized that in this next season for me, in order to accomplish my dreams, I'm going to have to face my fears very much head on. I am grateful to have made this realization through this program, it's given me courage to step outside my realm of comfortability and into something brand new and exciting. The two models we hired were Brianna and McKenna and although there was a small wardrobe snafu, the girls pulled through. Garth is the absolute worst Casting Director I've ever dealt with. (I'm coming from L.A. and N.Y…read more auditions.) He seems to decide whether he likes you or not, the moment you set foot in the door. I must've intimidated him by simply being taller than he expected, because there was no excuse for his blatant insults and disrespect during my audition. Other reviews of this studio rave about him as "never dampening or discouraging his students." Does he just throw that personality out the window when he's running an audition room? I won't be back, and hope that I was the exception to the rule. May no one else have to experience this side of him in the audition room. Note to Garth: if you don't like an actor, or their performance...then just say "thank you" and move on with your day. There's never an excuse to take personal or "professional jabs" at someone who is nothing but kind and pleasant towards you. Time to re-learn the word "professionalism."

I still remember the first time my son auditioned for Garth, he asked him what his favorite super hero was and at the time I think my son was watching Barnie so he just stared at Garth in the cute ways that a 3 year old can. As I get to know Jan & Garth better on the professional level, I think Phoenix is lucky to have them as casting directors. They are caring, hard working folks who are reputable and both my son and I love auditioning for them. I trust my son in the audition room with either Garth or Jan or any one of their associates. This is very important for parents to be able to trust the casting directors. Per my last review, Garth and Jan also teach acting classes and it benefits any talent both child and adult to take classes with them since it's a lot easier for them to book you when they know who you are better rather than the 10 seconds in front of the camera during an audition.
