Bobby might as well be prince charming in a white Porsche in the world of auto repairs. He literally saved me from a nightmare on 2nd Ave (prior dishonest mechanic). I have a 2004 Audi TT that I am clinging on to for dear life because I love that car and she has very low mileage (70k). I moved to the area from PA recently and brought several meaningful cars with me including a freshly restored 1958 Porsche 356A. Bob Varela and his staff worked very hard to restore my 1986 Porsche 928 that I bought from a seller in Green Bay Wi. The car had a lot issues that I was not disclosed on by seller: faulty tachometer, dried up seals, defective cooling fans, non-working horn, defective rotors and brakes, defective AC, and I could go on and on. Foreign Affairs Motorsports is a high end tuning shop and authorized Dinan BMW tuner. They tuned my 2012 550i with Dinan stage 2 software. They also did the tuning and Dinan suspension work on my friend's car. I also had a chance to see some of their more advanced engine and suspension work. What I like: 1) They have the latest equipment for alignment and suspension work 2) They are very careful with customers cars - I felt much more comfortable letting these guys work on my car, than the guys at the BMW dealership who can be a bit careless. 3) They have a lot of high end clientele which is a sign of quality (all the cars I saw were recent model Porsches or BMWs) 4) Their pricing is fairly reasonable. It is very slightly less than the BMW dealer. 5) They are really passionate about performance. They run their own racing team. They know a ton of stuff about tuning cars. They bring excellence to what they do. This is a professional shop. 6) They run an open shop. You can watch them working on your car. What they could do better: 1) They put a towel over the side of my car to prevent the cables scratching the car, however since the car was dirty, the towel also caused the dirt to be rubbed against the paint. It would be better if they just completely avoided any contact with the body work unless necessary. read more

I noticed a consistent harsh noise every time I made a high speed tight left turn during autocross. So I dropped my baby off at the local Porsche dealer in South Florida to be diagnosed. A week later, the local Porsche dealer said it was caused by worn suspension components. After spending $2,000+ with the dealer I was told my car was fix. During my next autocross event, I instantly knew the problem was NOT fixed. A friend from PCA recommenced that I talk to Bobby from Foreign Affairs Motorsport. After a quick drive, Bobby and his mechanic was able to quickly diagnose the problem as a transmission mount issue. The root of the problem was $1,000 transmission mount fix versus a $2,000 suspension problem. How could the dealer have missed this??? The dealer also missed that my water pump was leaking and that I had a small oil leak. After this experience, Foreign Affair Motorsport has my business for life! read more

I've been over charged each and every time I've had work done and regular servicing done on my 5 series. Audi 2014 A6 had my two motor mounts replaced and my car drives like a new car actually. Bobby had the old motor mounts to show me which is a really nice thing to do. Have you not ever wondered did the mechanic actually replace the part? That is a nice touch, Bobby. The dealer wanted 1300.00 plus Tax for the same job that I got from Bobby for around 900.00. The other thing about the dealer is my car had been driving rough since 39K miles and I had them check it but they didn't tell me about bad motor mounts until the Warranty expired. Ok here we go...I own a 2010 Audi TT convertible with extremely low mileage. For about six months I would get different warning lights, sometimes it was a ABS sometimes it was traction control and one time, no kidding all of the lights came on in the car while my girlfriend was driving it... She swore the car hated her and that it was possessed LOL! The other concern was the convertible top started needing manual assistance to go up and down which is normally the signs of a very expensive hydraulic pump. I must say this as clearly as possible... I do NOT trust auto mechanics. Very bad past personal experiences with hucksters and liars. I looked to YELP and once again my fellow champions of great service, you steered me in the right direction! This shop has a $100 off coupon off oil service which is pretty much a free oil change in my head so I am thinking, take the car in, let them do the oil change and tell them about my other concerns. If they even hint of falsehood I will run the other way. This was not my experience! Bobby was quick to help me, listened to all of my concerns and actually asked all the right questions. He asked if I could leave the car right then as he had his Audi specialist on hand. Very long story short, he completed the oil change, cleared all of the bad codes out of my car and using an aftermarket warranty company that I had purchased with the car, replaced my faulty hydraulic pump with a lightning fast super strong one. Bobby and his team at Foreign Affairs are amazing. He kept me in the loop the entire time, honored my $100 off coupon from YELP and kept my out-of-pocket so low I had to brag to everybody about it! Their shop is in an industrial area but it is something right out of NASCAR or an Indy 500 shop. You will see race cars, race engines, a bevy of the most high end cars and top-tier mechanics with an experienced and focused look on their face. This place is so far beyond the real deal it is mind blowing. Bobby has a genuine confidence and reassurance that truly puts you at ease as you can feel the years of expertise coming across in his questions, responses and explanations. I have found my mechanic! When I got my car back it looked like it came out of a detail shop and it runs better than when I bought it. Gone is the Herky Jerky feeling off the line, nothing but silky smooth shifting and effortless, seamless power. I can't explain it, it is like a new car! I had the worst experience of my life. I brought my porsche to have the convertible top repaired, and they repaired it. They gave me a 1 year warranty. It started making popping noise while still under warranty. I brought the car back and they supposedly fixed it. I brought it home and cycled the top about 3 times. It started making noise again. When I called I was told to use it until it didn't work again and they would order all new parts, and cjarge me to fix it again. They also had charged me to repair it the second time even though it was supposedly under warranty. read more

Can't say enough about Bobby and his team. I was visiting the area and wanted to get my parents' 2004 Mercedes E320 fixed. The infotainment system would not stay turned on and the driver's seat would not fully travel along the track making it tough to reach the peddles, especially for my mom. Turned out these were both electrical problems and we know how tough it can be to isolate and fix electrical problems. There was no way I was bringing an out of warranty car to the dealer. My mom actually did have the driver's seat checked out by the dealer a while back and was told that the limited seat adjustment travel was "by design" (total BS). The passenger seat had more than an extra foot of travel! I called Foreign Affairs Motorsport at noon on a Thursday and needed the car back by the weekend whether they could fix it or not. They took me in right away and even gave me a ride back home. They sent a car for me the next evening to drive me to pickup my car and everything was working. Infotainment was fully operational and the driver's seat now functions properly and can be fully adjusted, all at a very reasonable price. All in all an amazing experience.
