Came here on a Friday night with a girlfriend. The doorman was very courteous, explained the seating and serving style of the bar. We were seated promptly at the shared table below the disco ball. This is the hot new cocktail bar of Seattle! Located right next to stateside, it delivers what it promises. This is a 4.5 star review, and just misses the five star mark due to a few kinks which, I'm sure will be straightened with time. The location is very non-descriptive, with a small sign next to its door in a relatively quiet area at night. I believe they're going for the speak-easy vibe. As you enter, it's surprising to see such a big crowd in this place. The place itself is pretty small. It has a large bar on one side, and a long narrow seating area. There is a couch for one large party, and space for about 5-6 small groups to sit. This is not a place for large groups, and I wouldn't recommend groups of more than 4. However, their stools are really small, and don't have a backrest, which makes it very uncomfortable for some folks in the party. The ambiance is chic and classy. There is a large disco ball on one end, very fascinating to watch. The bar is very well decorated, and more importantly, well-stocked. There are some metallic swans adorning the bar. The atmosphere and ambiance is very upscale and on the darker & metallic side, with candles on the tables. Since it is so popular, it does get noisy, and so probably isn't the best place for an intimate date, and more for a place to start off the night. The drinks are very innovative, and mainly asian-inspired. We got the foreign national and silk road on the server's recommendation, and both were pretty good. The foreign national is a slightly sour drink with honey, which reduces the tartness in a mellow way. I couldn't really taste the alcohol in the drink. The silk road is a really unique drink, which I really liked, but my friends didn't. It has rum, coconut cream and curry, which gives it a very thai-food like taste, but the rum twists it. Really impressed. We wanted to try their desserts, but the kitchen was shut. The service was good and professional. Our server's recommendations were nice, and we were attended to very promptly. Along with the quality comes the price. It is definitely on the expensive side, but the cost is well worth the experience. I would highly recommend this place, specially before it becomes the big thing, and it becomes difficult to get a spot. Will take my friends here again! read more

This place serves up bomb cocktails and I'd definitely recommend the silk road - tastes just like I've taken a trip to the equator and back! Many exotic cocktails on the menu and the service is impeccable. Very cool bar. Small and a little hard to find because there is no sign but the speakeasy vibe makes it worth a visit. They also make a lot of unique cocktails that you won't find anywhere else. Great place tucked away in Capitol Hill next to Stateside. Seats about 20-30 ppl but is ultra sexy for a night out with your lover or date. Ambiance is great and tasty drinks. Street parking is nearby but you'll want to uber to get there. read more

RUDE. tried to take an open seat and was told there were two parties waiting outside. acknowledged we understood and politely stood by the door. the waitress walking by made a point to tell us there were other parties waiting outside. again, understood. continued waiting by the door patiently only to be kicked outside after asking if we couldn't wait inside. he said unfortunately not. once out the door, the doorman explained it was a fire code. ok. we get that you're popular and you have a system in place, but are you so rude to your customers? a friendly "hello" would have sufficed just fine. you can keep your fancy drinks! read more

Very cute little bar. It was pretty hard to find when we tried to use google maps, but we eventually found it after reading a few reviews and spending 15 minutes walking by it! The bar is pretty dark inside and seating is limited. However, service and drinks were good. Prices were reasonable as well. read more

Foreign National has become one of my favorite cocktail lounges on Capitol Hill. The place is intimate and the seating is limited; it is best to go on a week night because weekends can be crowded. The staff is wonderful and friendly, and the bartenders know what they are doing when it comes to mixing cocktails. Their signature cocktail is the right mix of tart and savory. Although their bar food menu is limited, it is all delicious, particularly the curry chicken turnovers. I would highly recommend a visit to this venue. read more

The hubby and I had a rare childfree night in downtown and this place was recommended to us. The ambience is nice and the drinks are STRONG. Usually I stick to no more than 2 drinks but honestly I'd probably do just 1 here. 2 was too many for me. I expected to to be better than it was just due to the reviews here, but I suppose this is just personal preference. I usually like lighter refreshing cocktails with lots of citrus, but these were rich, deep and moody drinks. If that's your sort of jam, you will love it. Giving them an extra star for it not even officially being open. We had read about it, and when we were on our way to another bar up the street, we veered over to try the door. It was unlocked and the din of conversation spilled out onto the sidewalk. The decor was as it had looked in the photos, sexy and elegant. Good choice of wallpaper. My date had the Long Thailand Ice Tea which was a fabulous drink as much for the premium-level wordplay of the name as the drink itself, which mimics the Long Island Ice Tea formula of multiple liquors, but which tastes like a Thai tea with liquor. I had the Little Italy, a rye twist on the Manhattan formula. Rather than being sad and cheaply commercialized while being swallowed up by Chinatown like the famous Little Italy, this drink was robustly flavorful and strong. The service was sweet and efficient. It was a nice venue to end a date night, and we will be back. read more

Good drinks, but jack ass bouncer! This is why I will never go back to this bar nor will I recommend this place to any of my friends or anybody that I know of in the area. Let me tell you what happened: We came with a party of 4 and was questioned right away at the door "how large the party will be later?" We were all like oh maybe just the four of us. He did make sure that if the party got bigger and the bar was full, then he could not let other people in and we were okay with it. We were directed to the standing table to wait there until our table was ready. As soon as the other guests stood up and left the table, we just went straight to our table. Just as we started to get ourself situated around the table, the server then arrived to clean out the table, and out of nowhere, he showed up and directed all of us back to the entrance area because the server needed to clean the table first. Yes, we understood that the table needed to be cleaned out...and it's only a 15" round table! Im sure it's only going to take a couple of minutes to clean it out. But, all 4 of us was directed back to the entrance and waited for 1 minute before he let us back to the table. This was rather strange. So, we ordered the drinks now and was having great conversations with our friends and then a few minutes later after the drinks came, he showed up at our table again. This time he told us that we cannot be sitting too close to the bathroom area and that we needed to move our table (our table was at the very last table closer to the bathroom). It's so uncomfortable how he kept checking on us and told us to move around and I was only at my first sip of my drink. Our server never really said anything and thought that we were just fine where we were at. He should only be watching for the entrance door and worry about people's ID. This time were all very irritated. Then, sure enough we had 2 other friends decided to join us 10 minutes later and good thing he'd let them in. So, right now we have 6 people total with a small table. We started noticing that people at the next table closing up their bill and eventually left and that table was empty. Also, at the bar area, 3 of the guests also left. So, there were rooms for people to come in and get drinks. 30 minutes later, 2 of my other friends decided to come and blatantly said to them that the bar was out of capacity and he couldn't let them in. I was like there are plenty of room for my other friends to come in. If they let them in then we could just easily combined the two tables together. There were also some bar seatings available. I am not sure what his deal was, but that's certainly not a great customer service. It just shows what a control freak he was. This is a freakin' bar, not a personal relationship. So, at this point, we closed our check and went to Sun Liquor bar, which was so much better! Great drinks, service, and ambiance. I gave 2 stars because the drink was good and the table server was great. BYEEE! read more

This place is legit. I only had time for the Foreign National cocktail, but it's enough to make me want to go back asap. The drink was complex, yet refreshing and simply delicious (combination of fruity and floral without being too sweet). I was so impressed with how personable the bartender was (wish I knew his name but he was there around 7 pm on a Saturday) and I am in love with the decor. I felt like I was in a classy Vegas bar. It can get really loud though, which is why I'd give it a 4.5. The place wasn't packed but something about the acoustics made it difficult to hear my drinking buddy so we left. This place is tied for my favorite along with Tavern Law. read more
