Convinced us old water softener was beyond repair, and necessitated a totally "NEW" unit. Literally flooded basement floor during install (100 sq-ft of water, everywhere). Said he would return 48 hrs. later to verify the "New" unit was functioning (as programmed); Before leaving Asked about paperwork, specifically, the USER MANUAL -- said he'd bring it when he returns (2 days later) ...THIS should have been a major RED Flag (if this device were really NEW)?!?! Unit NEVER turned on, NEVER worked. Called him repeatedly. Always "...traveling; on the road right now. Can I call you back?" He NEVER calls back. 45 Days later tank is at capacity (with water), Initial salt deposit STILL on the bottom (UN-dissolved). Only recently glimpsed his BBB, Google, Yelp, and Angie's List customer reviews; Realized we'd been scammed. Not only did this "technician" flood the basement, he botched the install when he jammed the water softener's 3-PRONG POWER Cord into a 2-PRONG EXTENSION CORD. Terrible experience. Started off well but then he insisted he had to replace all of our bypass valves. Told us each valve costs $100. I found the identical valves at Menards for $15 each. He did not put a bypass valve on the softener itself so if we have to use the bypass valves on our pipes for any reason, the basement bathroom would not have access to water. He did not leave any manuals or warranty paperwork but said he would mail them. He never mailed them and when we tried to contact him, he just hangs up. He is a rude person who doesn't care once he has been paid. I believe this is the owner (Bill). My advice is to stay away from Forest City Water! read more

My parents purchased a water softener in March of 2020 from Bill for $1300.00 prepaid. After several phone calls to find out when he would install it he kept coming up with excuses why he could not schedule the install. Now, in Dec of 2020 Google says the business is permanently closed, and no one answers the phone. After having another repairman take a look at what Bill sold my parents he said that 1) not boxed as new equipment should be, 2) there were no model numbers, and 3) color coding of the "head" was consistent with a unit from the 1980's. Scammed my 80 years old father by installing used water softner and lead him to believe it was new water softner. Then promised he'd bring back a manual for it and the warranty paperwork and never did. After numerous calls in he kept saying it was in the mail which of course was a lie. We still to this day babwn gotten it. Now few months later my senior father noticed water on top of water softner leaking so he called Forest City Water to come back out and look at it. Terrible service and a scammer. Paid him $250 to fix water softener and still didn't work after. Tried to reach out multiple times for him to come back out but never answered or returned calls. Called from my friends house (a different number) and then he answered, said he would be out in an hour to fix it and never showed. read more

Fortunately, did my homework before agreeing to price, and got more reasonable total. Problem was, never knew when he would show up. He was missing this part, then this one. Each time, he assured me he'd be there at specific time, and I made a point of being home. Several no-shows. My fault for giving him the money before it was complete, I know. Should have known better. RO system not completed, tried calling several times evening he didn't show, then all next day. Finally, when I left message that leak was damaging carpet and wall, and I would have to call another plumber, plus someone to make repairs, he responded. We'll see if he shows up on this one. This guy was a JERK. He was nice as could be til he got paid. as soon as he had the money in his pocket, he changed. After he "fixed" our water system, our drinking water wasn't coming out like before. It was trickling out. He had to be called back twice. When I went downstairs after he finished, I saw that he left open salt bags thrown all over the floor- messy and did NOT clean up after himself. Also, he was super disgruntled- he had a bad attitude and even somewhat aggressive speech. When I walked outside an hour after he left, I discovered that our outdoor christmas lights were cut! i'm not saying he did it, but it was awfully suspicious timing! read more

Buyer beware. I bought a new softener system from this clown. After about five service calls on a brand new water softening system this guy gave up. On top of all that he put refurbished parts on my new softener. Had another company come out even though I had a lifetime warranty on the purchase. They fixed it first time. For what I paid I should have never had to have someone else come out. This guy sucks as a business man and a person. Go somewhere else unless you want to be ripped off. Agreed to rebuild entire water softener. Week later when it didn't work, said a part he didn't replace was bad. He repaired equipment on top of new washer and dryer without covering them. Had to ask he return a tool he used and took with him. Recent phone conversation, he threatened me. Would suggest looking elsewhere if you need repairs. read more

He was very professional and arrived on time. The unit was installed promptly and he even showed me what he had done and how to operate it. Wouldn't recommend. A week or so after install softener blew an o-ring and flooded the basement. Read a review that this had happened to another customer. Guy just wasn't very professional. Had to loan him my tools as he didn't have what he needed. He did send another young guy to help with cleanup but by this time job was nearly done. Fixed his mistake a couple days later after fixing head unit needing to borrow tools again. Promised to drop off some salt for free for inconvenience. Never did. I even called and reminded him and still never showed. Keeping fingers crossed softener holds up. read more
