We wouldn't have stopped here if we didn't have tasting coupons from our tour at nearby Four Roses. As a rule, we don't stop at wineries unless we're in wine country. Most of the bottles were as expected, fruity with little body. But surprisingly a couple of bottles were nice enough to buy for later. It's worth stopping in if you're enjoying an afternoon out and about in Kentucky. Calibrate your expectations and you'll have a remarkably good time. read more

The mister and I visited this charming winery after a morning of hiking at Bernheim Forest. The winery is right off the main street across the way from the forest and has dedicated parking. The building seems to be a remodeled home, with the indoor spaces being filled with wine paraphernalia and multiple tables/chairs. We arrived just as they were opening for the day and we were the only customers there, so we had plenty of time with the hostess. I am sorry that I have forgotten her name, but she was very, very helpful. We particularly enjoyed the semi-dry sauvignon blanc and we ended up purchasing two bottles, one to enjoy on the outdoor patio and another that is living in my wine fridge! (I believe it is calling my name as I write this review!) The winery has received multiple awards for their various wines and they are displayed for all to see in the main roon. There is a beautiful room full of barrels, a TV and and another bar off of the main room area. They even have a play area for children to enjoy while their parents enjoy their wine! (see picture) This winery is a delightful mini-trip from Louisville and I cannot say enough good things about it! I am more than certain that I will be enjoying many visits in the future! read more

This is a nice small winery we saw and decided to stop at on a mini road trip. We arrived right when they opened so we were the only people there. The lady assisting with our tasting was very friendly. They also had a cat that was happy to greet us and hang out with us during our visit. A lot of the common wines, all good! The two things that made this place different was a playroom for kids that even is accessed by a small door. I thought that was cool. They also have a wine that is infused with a hot pepper. With the pepper still in the bottle. It had quite a kick! read more

This is a must stop for Bardstown KY. Very friendly and great wine! I would also suggest to join the wine club, they don't pick the wine you do. Wine club members also get free tasting any time they visit! read more

I enjoyed our quick visit to Forest Edge Winery. We decided to come here last minute because I had a free tasting coupon. I'm glad we started off our big bday celebration here. :) A tasting is $5 which is very reasonable. That gives you 6 different wines to sample. Everyone I tried I enjoyed. I ended up getting a full pour of the merlot. It was smooth and nice on the palate. My boyfriend got a sangria slushy. Very fruity and refreshing! I will definitely be back as it's pretty close to where I live. We had several favorites, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the menu and can't remember names. I'll describe them though (lol). The strawberry wine, Sangria slushy, java wine, and the berry pomegranate wine. Sorry for the lack of proper names, but you'll figure it out when you go. Hahahaha! Went and did a wine sampling and purchasing date with my hubby. We were already fans of their Ridgerunner Red. Friendly service and nice selection to sample (6 samples for $5). Also a discount if you purchase a certain # of bottles. I loved the coffee based dessert wines, yum! A guy who is apparently a regular visitor had no sense of personal space and saddled up almost elbow to elbow to me and talked about each wine my husband and I sampled--so much for our 'couple time'--it was clear he'd had many samples that day already! He moved on to another woman (with her spouse) as we went to check out. We would've stayed longer had this guy left us alone read more

After doing another wine tasting last summer, I decided I was due for another and bought a recent Groupon to Forest Edge Winery. The location is convenient to Louisville, as it is just off I-65 at the Clermont exit (before Jim Beam). We called in advance and no reservation was required, so we made our way to the winery one recent afternoon. We arrived and entered this nice facility. It is very clean and welcoming. The main area has a number of bar tables with stools, wine lining the walls, and a variety of cute decorations. The Groupon was for "tour and tasting and signature wine glasses." (Now that I realize it, there was no tour involved.) We were kindly greeted when we arrived and stepped up to the bar to begin our tasting. Each person was given a menu to select 10 wines of our choosing. (There were probably 15 to choose from.) All but one win was available for tasting with the Groupon. (One specialty wine would cost $2 to taste.) After choosing your 10 wines, the employee started pouring them. She gave us crackers and water between types of wines to cleanse the palate. The wines were overall very delicious. (I ended up buying two bottles.) The employee was courteous. The experience wasn't *bad*, but compared to the other tasting I have done in the area, I wasn't super impressed. Again, the wine was good, but.... there were no stools at the bar (so we felt awkward standing there and almost forced to make it a quick experience). It was not as interactive or as informative as we hoped; we felt it necessary to ask questions to make more of our experience. In other notes... It appeared they sold wine by the glass and in addition to the bottles you could buy. There were even a few friends sitting at a table drinking some wine. But for me, wine tasting is about the experience, and this experience lasted less than 30 minutes and wasn't something I would do again. It was a good deal with the Groupon (I'm honestly not sure what the cost typically is.) and the wine was good, but if someone asks for my a recommendation, I'd recommend trying some place else (like Broad Run Vineyards). A decent spot to stop by if you're in the area though (and perhaps if you're doing something I didn't that I'm not aware of). read more

I was THRILLED to only have to drive across the street from Burnheim Forest, after a long hike, to drop in here for air conditioning and wine. Who doesn't love that combination?? Very clean and neat. Cozy winery - Stopped by to pick up a bottle of Zoey Rose' wine, which is light and refreshing, and saw they had it in a slushie! Yummy and delightful, not strong. A perfect summertime treat which is now going to be perfect for Fall too. Staff was nice and helpful. They also had a few gift items for sale, and offer several classes and events on their calendar. I plan on trying their Ridge Runner wine next time I'm there. Also, I appreciated the signs along the way from I - 65, they made it easy for me to find them. read more

I am not a wine drinker and have had a hard time finding a wine I like. Today I tried the Sweet Strawberry Delight and Summer Daze. I was pleasantly surprised. I feel in love with them and purchased a bottle of both. Everyone was very friendly and we even met the resident kitty. read more

I have only been to one wine tasting before Forest Edge yesterday so that's all I have it to compare it to. It was okay, but nothing like the first tasting at a competitor I went to a few months ago. The other one I went to gave us lessons, history and cool facts about each wine we tasted plus had more specials when you bought a bottle to take home. At Forest Edge, we picked ten and we tasted ten. We were told the name and basically the same thing that we could've read directly off of the list. We did get a tour of the back though so that was interesting. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back, but I wasn't WOWed like I was at the previous tasting I went to. Also, the girl who helped us was super friendly and patient with us while we had non-wine conversation with each other. read more

One of our favorites! The cheese tray is amazing, and the wines are our favorites! WINE SLUSHIES ARE AHMAZING!!! We've spent many afternoons/evenings enjoying this winery. I have done both the jewelry and paintings classes and both were a blast! Their birthday bashes are a blast, and they have live music form time to time. When my husband retired from the Army, he wanted to find something we could do as a couple-so he started drinking wine, and we started visiting wineries in the area-plus when we travel...Forest Edge is or favorite so far! read more

I visit this winery on an annual basis, my extended family lives very near there in Kentucky. I have always been treated politely and with great care and this spans some 8 years or more. Their wines are quite good and I bring back several for my wife each time I visit. This latest visit was just a few weeks ago and the person working that day was very aware and helpful with regard to social distancing and asking if she should have a mask on. These days that matters and it is wonderful customer care. It has always been this way at the Winery. read more

Forest edge winery? More like highway 245 edge winery! The location is convenient but not nice at all, McDonalds has a nicer patio. The wine was good but otherwise the place is less than mediocre. Would not go here again considering other more fun wineries in the area. read more

Not for the red wine drinker. This place seems to specialize in desert wines and sweet wines. Even their "dry reds" are too sweet for my taste. Everything I tried was really flat with zero depth, and nothing worth writing home about. It could have all used about another 5 years in the barrel. The presentation was nice enough, the facility was clean and well decorated, and even had a kids play room in the corner. Might be ok for a girls night or something, just don't expect to be impressed by any of the reds. read more

Surprisingly good little winery. They do a fantastic port style fortified wine if you like that sort of thing. It's sweet for a tawny, but I didn't mind. The coffee wine was an interesting little digestif as well. Very friendly staff too. This place is much better than that other nearby winery to the north, unless you enjoy drinking pruno-level stuff. read more

Ah wine, let me count the ways I love you. One, two, three, ALL THE WAYS! This was me second time at Forest Edge, and this time, much like my first time there, was wonderful. This time, we were the only ones there, so the gentleman at the counter was only helping us. I stuck mostly to sweets (I am liking more reds, but the sweet wines are my weakness) and ended up leaving with 2 bottles. The tasting room is bright and roomy, with plenty of standing and sitting room and is good for groups. Make sure to put this on your list of "Wineries I need to go to". You have one of those lists, right? I can't be the only one with that list. read more

We have had several family funtions at Forest Edge. Everytime was great! The room we rented is perfect for small gatherings not to mention the incredible wine! The story of Forest Edge Winery began in 2006 with 2 simple words: What if? Now, over 10 years later, it has become a reality with a growing Winery located at the edge of historic Bernheim Forest on Clermont Road in Bullitt County; the gateway to Kentucky's bourbon trail. From our winemaker to our gift shop, Forest Edge is a family owned and oriented. This atmosphere of family carries down to our children's room. Inspired by our own children, this spacious fun room features a hand painted mural, television, and an assortment of creative play activities. We also offer a place where you can have your next meeting, party, or conference in our 12-15 person conference room or our impressive Barrel Room, seating 48. Both spaces offer television and conferencing amenities. They do also have wine slushees in Grape and Cherry flavored. I had grape of course and it was delicious. I even bought a bottle of their wine but, you can only buy the bottles there and it's not sold in stores. It is a small family owned winery. And the lady that hosted our tasting was a great host and gave us the backstory of the place. I do plan on returning at some point in time. The Ridge allows BYOFood, so we brought a spread. And then we bought wine from them. My favorite was the Blackberry Table Wine, which was sweet but balanced. We took over a table on the large patio that overlooks the Ohio River. And man, what a view. There was slight breeze and ample room for everyone to sit, while being socially distant. We watched barges slowly make their way down the river while we chatted and drank. And then inside, The Ridge has a small but fun gift shop. My mom and aunt bought a cheeky glass and T-shirt. The Ridge also offers tastings in case you want to try several fruit wines. I've had better wine in Kentucky/Indiana, but The Ridge's wine plus view and overall atmosphere makes this a must-visit.

The tasting room is connected to a couple's home but it isn't weird at all (b/c I thought it would be!) It was so enjoyable to taste the wine, chat with the owners (who were hilarious and in love), then buy our glasses of wine to relax on the deck for girl talk and river views. We decided to try Prodigy because it was the first one we say on the road sign and it was open (a lot of places were closed due to the snow). The property is beautiful. It's very spacious and has a very nice view of an open field. We were also greeted by the sweetest cats. One walked right up to us when we got out of the car and immediately wanted to be petted. We were greeted at the tasting room by more affectionate cats and dogs! The tasting room has a bunch of decorated shelves with the bottles ready for purchase and a lot of horse themed items. We decided to go a tasting which comes with 6 different wines. The presentation was my favorite part because each wine was in a different beaker. We enjoyed the wine. So just down the street or across the street is the most amazing winery from one of the most beautiful parks in Kentucky. Bernheim Forest is the perfect place for a nice picnic or a day out with the family or just with a couple. Forest edge winery not only do they have probably the best wines that I have ever tasted but they have a very wide variety of selections. The people that work there don't only help you find the right wine but they educate you and make you feel like the wind that was chosen for you was meant to be just for you. Their customer service is probably one of the best and just don't treat you like a customer but like you're one of the family. So definitely we highly recommend forest edge winery. I absolutely recommend Forest Edge Winery! From start to finish, the experience was amazing. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the wines. The tasting was fun and educational, and they had a great selection to choose from. The atmosphere was relaxing with beautiful scenery--perfect for enjoying a glass of wine and unwinding. The best Winery in the area. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you leave happy. The wine is excellent and the discounts are great, the more you buy the better the discounts. My Girlfriend is a big fan of the Summer Daze and as for myself I like to mix it up, I like having choices when I`m ready to drink some wine. The selection and atmosphere was outstanding. My only complaint was the set up for St. Patrick's Day. Not sure if there weren't enough people to help everyone but the serving of wine slushies and doing a a wine taste created mass chaos. There really wasn't any rhyme or reason to it. My friend and I watched a server take care of the people in front of us but then we were told we had to go to the other side. Not really organized for such a crowd. read more

I attended a recent concert on Sunday, March 11, 2018. This was such a festive atmosphere and it was not even a holiday! All that attended had a great indoor picnic experience. The staff were ever so courteous and helpful. The musical entertainment was exceptional and so responsive to our enjoyment of the day. No one even seemed to notice that it was yet another drizzly, gray March day! I look forward to more such opportunities. read more

A decent mix of sweet and dry wines and even some unique infused wine flavors. They were lovely people and based on my recent visit, sold to lovely people. Onto the wines - I believe it was $8 for 6 wines. I had a hard time narrowing down their choices to just 6 as everything sounded so good. The Vidal blanc was the first wine the new owners had completed from start to finish and it was absolutely lovely. They had a delicious selection of dry reds as well. The Kentucky roots was my favorite in this section. The cab was smooth as well. We ended up sitting on their patio and had several bottles of the summer nights. We all had a hard time picking out wines to take home. Needless to say, we will be coming back as the future seems bright for this family and the winery.
