The mister and I visited this charming winery after a morning of hiking at Bernheim Forest. The winery is right off the main street across the way from the forest and has dedicated parking. The building seems to be a remodeled home, with the indoor spaces being filled with wine paraphernalia and multiple tables/chairs. We arrived just as they were opening for the day and we were the only customers there, so we had plenty of time with the hostess. I am sorry that I have forgotten her name, but she was very, very helpful. We particularly enjoyed the semi-dry sauvignon blanc and we ended up purchasing two bottles, one to enjoy on the outdoor patio and another that is living in my wine fridge! (I believe it is calling my name as I write this review!) The winery has received multiple awards for their various wines and they are displayed for all to see in the main roon. There is a beautiful room full of barrels, a TV and and another bar off of the main room area. They even have a play area for children to enjoy while their parents enjoy their wine! (see picture) This winery is a delightful mini-trip from Louisville and I cannot say enough good things about it! I am more than certain that I will be enjoying many visits in the future! read more

This is a nice small winery we saw and decided to stop at on a mini road trip. We arrived right when they opened so we were the only people there. The lady assisting with our tasting was very friendly. They also had a cat that was happy to greet us and hang out with us during our visit. A lot of the common wines, all good! The two things that made this place different was a playroom for kids that even is accessed by a small door. I thought that was cool. They also have a wine that is infused with a hot pepper. With the pepper still in the bottle. It had quite a kick! read more

I enjoyed our quick visit to Forest Edge Winery. We decided to come here last minute because I had a free tasting coupon. I'm glad we started off our big bday celebration here. :) A tasting is $5 which is very reasonable. That gives you 6 different wines to sample. Everyone I tried I enjoyed. I ended up getting a full pour of the merlot. It was smooth and nice on the palate. My boyfriend got a sangria slushy. Very fruity and refreshing! I will definitely be back as it's pretty close to where I live. We had several favorites, but unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the menu and can't remember names. I'll describe them though (lol). The strawberry wine, Sangria slushy, java wine, and the berry pomegranate wine. Sorry for the lack of proper names, but you'll figure it out when you go. Hahahaha! Went and did a wine sampling and purchasing date with my hubby. We were already fans of their Ridgerunner Red. Friendly service and nice selection to sample (6 samples for $5). Also a discount if you purchase a certain # of bottles. I loved the coffee based dessert wines, yum! A guy who is apparently a regular visitor had no sense of personal space and saddled up almost elbow to elbow to me and talked about each wine my husband and I sampled--so much for our 'couple time'--it was clear he'd had many samples that day already! I was THRILLED to only have to drive across the street from Burnheim Forest, after a long hike, to drop in here for air conditioning and wine. Who doesn't love that combination?? Very clean and neat. Best kept little secret winery. The staff is fantastic and the wine is wonderful.

After doing another wine tasting last summer, I decided I was due for another and bought a recent Groupon to Forest Edge Winery. The location is convenient to Louisville, as it is just off I-65 at the Clermont exit (before Jim Beam). We called in advance and no reservation was required, so we made our way to the winery one recent afternoon. We arrived and entered this nice facility. It is very clean and welcoming. The main area has a number of bar tables with stools, wine lining the walls, and a variety of cute decorations. The Groupon was for "tour and tasting and signature wine glasses." (Now that I realize it, there was no tour involved.) We were kindly greeted when we arrived and stepped up to the bar to begin our tasting. Each person was given a menu to select 10 wines of our choosing. (There were probably 15 to choose from.) All but one win was available for tasting with the Groupon. (One specialty wine would cost $2 to taste.) After choosing your 10 wines, the employee started pouring them. She gave us crackers and water between types of wines to cleanse the palate. The wines were overall very delicious. (I ended up buying two bottles.) The employee was courteous. The experience wasn't *bad*, but compared to the other tasting I have done in the area, I wasn't super impressed. Again, the wine was good, but.... there were no stools at the bar (so we felt awkward standing there and almost forced to make it a quick experience). It was not as interactive or as informative as we hoped; we felt it necessary to ask questions to make more of our experience. In other notes... It appeared they sold wine by the glass and in addition to the bottles you could buy. There were even a few friends sitting at a table drinking some wine. But for me, wine tasting is about the experience, and this experience lasted less than 30 minutes and wasn't something I would do again. It was a good deal with the Groupon (I'm honestly not sure what the cost typically is.) and the wine was good, but if someone asks for my a recommendation, I'd recommend trying some place else (like Broad Run Vineyards). A decent spot to stop by if you're in the area though (and perhaps if you're doing something I didn't that I'm not aware of). read more

Cozy winery - Stopped by to pick up a bottle of Zoey Rose' wine, which is light and refreshing, and saw they had it in a slushie! Yummy and delightful, not strong. A perfect summertime treat which is now going to be perfect for Fall too. Staff was nice and helpful. They also had a few gift items for sale, and offer several classes and events on their calendar. I plan on trying their Ridge Runner wine next time I'm there. Also, I appreciated the signs along the way from I - 65, they made it easy for me to find them. read more

I have only been to one wine tasting before Forest Edge yesterday so that's all I have it to compare it to. It was okay, but nothing like the first tasting at a competitor I went to a few months ago. The other one I went to gave us lessons, history and cool facts about each wine we tasted plus had more specials when you bought a bottle to take home. At Forest Edge, we picked ten and we tasted ten. We were told the name and basically the same thing that we could've read directly off of the list. We did get a tour of the back though so that was interesting. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back, but I wasn't WOWed like I was at the previous tasting I went to. Also, the girl who helped us was super friendly and patient with us while we had non-wine conversation with each other. read more

One of our favorites! The cheese tray is amazing, and the wines are our favorites! WINE SLUSHIES ARE AHMAZING!!! We've spent many afternoons/evenings enjoying this winery. I have done both the jewelry and paintings classes and both were a blast! Their birthday bashes are a blast, and they have live music form time to time. I visit this winery on an annual basis, my extended family lives very near there in Kentucky. I have always been treated politely and with great care and this spans some 8 years or more. Their wines are quite good and I bring back several for my wife each time I visit. This latest visit was just a few weeks ago and the person working that day was very aware and helpful with regard to social distancing and asking if she should have a mask on. Not for the red wine drinker. This place seems to specialize in desert wines and sweet wines. Even their "dry reds" are too sweet for my taste. Everything I tried was really flat with zero depth, and nothing worth writing home about. It could have all used about another 5 years in the barrel. The presentation was nice enough, the facility was clean and well decorated, and even had a kids play room in the corner. Surprisingly good little winery. They do a fantastic port style fortified wine if you like that sort of thing. It's sweet for a tawny, but I didn't mind. Ah wine, let me count the ways I love you. One, two, three, ALL THE WAYS! This was me second time at Forest Edge, and this time, much like my first time there, was wonderful. This time, we were the only ones there, so the gentleman at the counter was only helping us. I stuck mostly to sweets (I am liking more reds, but the sweet wines are my weakness) and ended up leaving with 2 bottles. The tasting room is bright and roomy, with plenty of standing and sitting room and is good for groups. Make sure to put this on your list of "Wineries I need to go to".
