If you are reading this - just avoid this vet, avoid the owner, choose somewhere else to go. She's a nice enough person, but a little bit of an oddball - but wow, if you get into a disagreement with her, look out below, because that's where the relationship is headed. Anyhow, there's no shortage of veterinary practices to choose from - so just - ya know - trust me a bit on this one and move on to the next option. The doctor will most certainly respond to this review or attempt to have it removed. So whatever she says in response to this - trust me - it's not the truth. Lol.

Unfortunately, this veterinary clinic like many other others, doesn't offer any type of wellness plans to help with payments like perhaps a senior plan for not only senior owners, but maybe senior pets would be helpful. Another thing that would be helpful is if you're going to prescribe a medication that has to be compounded that you're able to to give resources on the spot to the owner, not just let the owner go off trying to find a compounding pharmacy. Going through chewy is quite difficult because of the Veterinary clinic will not confirm with Chewy over the phone, you have to send the original written prescription to chewy. Can you imagine in this day and age not taking phone calls or texts or emails or something instead of using the USPS, what a ridiculous practice. My poor senior dog needs this medication and is coughing constantly, and this is what this veterinarian gave me? Nothing to help temporarily, but of course wanting to do all kinds of tests after stating "his heart murmur is at a grade3 now, no longer a one". I literally paid what I would pay for myself a Patient First, with x-rays labs and a work up. My daughter recently talked to somebody in Prague, whose cat had open heart surgery for $100, so as you can say healthcare is not only getting bad for us. We're not gonna be able to afford it for our animals either especially with clinics like this one that tend to prey on people, or at least that's how you feel as a senior. Never mind, trying to recoup your money for your overly done, newly decorated office, why not come up with some economic health plans for people in their pets that makes things more affordable that to me would be much more helpful.. especially knowing that you're the one that helped her renovate the office!!!! I'm praying my little buddy can hold out until I get the medication to see if that works but I, again, will be seeking another veterinarian office. But fear not, Harford County is loaded with them!

But We feel that after four years our pets are getting equal if not better care at this veterinarian. We have been taking our three dogs to this VET for four years; we are very happy with the services received. Our mixed-bred Husky, ALLIE, does not require any MEDS; She is still young and healthy. Our pure-bred rescue German Shepard Dog, JEDI, from the first visit in on MEDS due to bad allergies. Yes, it is costly for two pills a day, but it is effective. Before ApoQuel all kinds of itching with multiple ear infections, none since and the other itching is now considered normal. Our senior citizen 16-year-old mixed Dobbie, ROSCOE, is on MEDS. The doctor prescribed a medication four years ago for a bum right shoulder after x-rays indicated it was not bone cancer. It has been a lifesaver for Roscoe. How this was handled by the staff is very touching, they did not make me wait a very long time, the doctor came in after the x-rays and told me that it was not cancer. What a relief that was not to wait. Now four years later, he has had issues getting up, he is on another MED. We understand our dog is over 16 years old. He's a walking miracle. A rescue from the pound many years ago. The VET recommended that Roscoe go on another MED, called Librela, and he starts that treatment this week. It is pricey at roughly $100 a month for an 80-pound dog. We will try to update in a few months on that treatment. It is not a cure-all, we understand most of the time it takes a few months to yield any results. We are trying to manage his age-related arthritis as best we can as his care takers.

The receptionist Lynn was super nice and overall made me very comfortable however when I was brought to a room the so called Tech Gabbie was extremely stand offish and not friendly. She basically pushed my dog up on the scale to get his weight ( he was scared and didn't want to get on it) after that she had a rude tone and asked what I was there for and so I explained. She then began to say maybe if my dog wasn't so dirty he wouldn't be itchy. ( my dog has had allergies his whole life pretty much and around this time of year is when they start back up) I explained that to her and she got an attitude and said she will let the dr know and that he would be in shortly. The doctor came in and i explained everything and he offered a prescription for apoquel ( which so far is working great). The dr was not the most personable but overall a nice man. I'm glad my dog is feeling better and not so itchy anymore. Overall decent experience except for the tech Gabbie. Someone should really teach her some customer service.

Our cat was in desperate need of euthanasia and it happened abruptly - I phoned around that day and this was a vet who could come that same day. His fee quoted was $395 (I was ok with that) and an additional $295 as a new patient! Yes - a new patient who was going to be dead within hours of procuring the service. I'm scratching my head over this and cannot reconcile the - well, the unethical behavior -- The vet was kind and very professional - But this monetary component has left me with a very sour outlook. (I haven't even mentioned that I was told he would arrive at 6:30 --- was then phoned at 6 to confirm that he was on his way -- only to wait another 90 minutes (the location is 25 minutes from my home)). Save for this shady handling of fees, I would readily have considered using this vet in the future as it is closer to my home --- but not now. If I hadn't been so desperate to help my cat, I would have chosen another route.

When he is available, he checks in on our dog to see how he is doing. The treatment itself is administered, most of the time, by the technician who runs the desk. She does it all (at least on Saturdays). She checks people out, schedules appointments, gives laser treatments and clips nails. Every once in a while this can cause delays, like that one week where the lady was giving her pet's life story and running through her entire month schedule while trying to set up a follow up appointment. The line got three deep that time. That was an exception. The majority of the time we are in and out with our scheduled appointment. Overall, prices are reasonable and Dr. Bishop and his staff are personable and total animal people. That's exactly what I want from a veterinarian.

My first visit at Modonna I had forgotten my phone, did not bring the paperwork that I needed the doctor to read from an ultrasound, I did not know the name of the medications my dog was taking... But in spite of all my craziness that morning they worked with me 100% and treated me kindly. I waved down a tech to let them know that I forgot my phone, so they worked out another method to get me registered They came out to the car to get me personally. The doctor asked me to go home get the medicines and send her all the information. Most doctors would just say let me see your dog and just take the money but she refused to see the dog without knowing the whole history and what medications. So she allowed me to go get the stuff and come back. She read through all five pages of medical records, and can you believe it... She called me personally and stated everything I wanted to hear. My dog was doing better than what those papers had stated. She wanted to continue to see her on a regular basis to check for the masses. I have taken Belle back again for a lump that popped up on her leg. She said no problem with that it's just a fatty tumor. You don't have to do anything...but if it's bothering her we can take it out. Most doctors would just say " she's going to have to have that removed because it's really interfering with her walking ability."That's what I am loving about Madonna. You can tell they're not in it for the money, They really care. And I might add that on visits to the vet prior to Madonna, my dog would shake like crazy and whine. I didn't know what they were doing to her they took her in a back room and I couldn't see. But I know when she came out from the Madonna check up she was so happy and they loved her there. They said "she is the sweetest Chihuahua, most of them bite and growl and bark but she was just licking us and wagging her tail." I feel so at peace knowing that my little Chihuahua 15 years old finally found someone who loves her. I wish I would have known about this place when she was first adopted.

The staff was so friendly and comforting, which made a stressful situation feel a little easier.The doctor and nurse took their time explaining everything and letting us know what to expect. The space was clean, calm, and welcoming. They even offered us water or soft drinks while we waited, which honestly meant a lot in the moment. I'm so grateful for how they cared for him and how they treated us. They really showed compassion from start to finish. Highly recommend.
