    Monarch butterfly tattoo

I've gotten two piercings and a recent tattoo and absolutely loved the work, nice and easy! Everyone was supper laid back and cool! This shop needs more business for real, prices are supper good too, would definitely recommend!

This is how noticeably crooked the labret is. Done by Mario at Forever Ink.

I am very unhappy with the quality of Mario's work. I went in to have my lip pierced after letting it close about two years ago. Since then, the shop has moved locations and the woman who did all of my previous piercings at Forever Ink, had moved on to another shop. And for good reason. Last week I stopped by the new location and met with Mario and decided on re-piercing my lip. He was quick, and charismatic. He informed me that he had given the woman who used to work there her apprenticeship, and assumably that meant he was just as good (if not better). This is not the case. Knowing full well how to be a legitimate body piercer, I marked down that I had a mild skin allergy to latex. He had no latex-free gloves on the premises, but assured me it would be fine and that he would not touch any part of my skin with the latex gloves he had on hand. He put jewelry that was too small in my initial wound. This gave no room for swelling, and as a week passed, an indentation formed in my lip due to the pressure caused by continuous swelling that never went down because it was not given the proper space in order to heal. In addition, he screwed both ends of the barbell on so tight, no one could remove them (believe me, I asked everyone). Finally I consulted another piercer, and even she couldn't get the jewelry removed without having to cut it. Even then she struggled to find enough space between my lip and the end of the barbell to cut the jewelry. On top of all of this, as I've finally removed the "barbell of death" and replaced it with reasonably sized jewelry, and the swelling has gone down significantly, I have discovered that the piercing itself is noticeably crooked. The bottom end of the barbell leans to the left side of my bottom lip while the top end rests perfectly centered. Mario at Forever Ink doesn't care about his clients' wellbeing. He cares about that cash in his hand at the end of the day. He made the one place that I knew and trusted an unsafe, unsterile place to go. He ruined my piercing in more ways than one, and for care and cleaning said I should use Neosporin. Which is the complete opposite of what any piercer anywhere else would tell you to do. I do not recommend getting any piercings here. However I do recommend going to Twisted Tattoo in Irving Park. They saved my lip and my life.

The skill is terrible, they did my friend and all the lines are a different thickness. You get what you pay for.

The space was comfortable and clean, and everyone was so nice and helpful. I got an arguably silly tattoo, but they took it seriously from start to finish! I've felt awkward about asking for weird or specific tattoos before, but I felt so at home and respected here, even being from out of town! It was an easy and fun experience, and the cost was well below what I expected to pay for a quality tattoo in this day and age, especially work as nice as I got. I'm not local to the area so I can't say if I'll be back anytime soon, but will definitely be recommending this lovely shop to my friends in the region!

Extra thanks to the service staff for pulling portfolios behind the counter!! After settling on my design and sizing, I was able to get on a table by 4:30 (went next door to look at records to kill time while the artist finished with his previous client-- check them out!!) Chicago Tattooing is welcoming, clean, easy to work with, and employs only the most qualified artists. You're in great hands regardless of which artist you work with! I will ALWAYS recommend Chicago Tattooing to anyone. Whether it's your first or your fortieth, this place will take care of you.

The store is bright, spacious and clean. The girls at the front desk were friendly and helpful. Cody was my piercer and was fantastic. He saw me right away, went over everything and was very kind and professional. He gave me his contact information if I had any follow up questions. So far everything is healing nicely and I can't wait to start wearing my own gorgeous earrings.

Was super excited to get my industrial re-pierced but had to walk out because of their problematic and unprofessional employees. Before I even walked in, I could see the piercer laying down on the chairs (first red flag). During the consultation she was actually knowledgeable, nice, and made me feel comfortable even though she talked me out of re piercing my industrial saying it was an "advanced" piercing. I figured maybe too advanced when she's half asleep so for my own safety I went with my gut feeling and agreed with her simpler suggestion which I was still excited to get: a mid helix. However by the time I got to the front desk- whose only job is to gather the information the piercer gave them and proceed with checkout- the interaction somehow became more painful than getting any piercing done. The employee kept acting extremely puzzled (kept saying "I'm confused" to my answers to her OWN questions)... how is that even possible? Then every time I asked a simple question about jewelry design, it was the same response: "I'm confused", in addition to unnecessary attitude. I've worked with people with actual cognitive delays and it was very obvious this wasn't the case. They just wanted to be difficult for no reason because not only was she acting confused and being rude, she was also talking about me to her coworker which also proceeded to give me attitude and be passive aggressive. I saw one of them come back from talking to the piercer and then all of a sudden the piercer changed her mind and said she could go ahead with the industrial piercing -No thank you! That's when I matched their energy and expressed I wasn't comfortable with their behavior before trusting them with my body and doing something invasive, apologized to the piercer and walked out to that same employee saying " I hope you have a beautiful day". I was indeed having a beautiful day until I walked in and had to deal with their ugly attitude and continued to have a beautiful day as soon as I stepped out. Maybe they need to start embracing beauty into their lives instead of being intimidated by positivity and projecting their frustrations on customers- after all, people get piercings for a variety of positive reasons not because they hate themselves. Maybe try matching the customers energy next time. Respect yourself, your energy and your body and go somewhere where actual professionals won't use you like a guinea pig to project their frustrations, sadism, hate and incompetence on. If this is how they really treat people, let alone potential paying customers, they need to be in a therapist's office, not a piercing shop.
