Not sanitary whatsoever, piercer uses Neosporin, did not even disinfect the jewelry, and used the incorrect jewelry for my piercing. Several issues with my experience here: 1. I went in for a $15 piercing for their Friday the 13th special, so of course I wasn't expecting a luxury experience, but keep in mind that their normal basic piercing price is only $5 more. Mario did not listen to my input on where I wanted my piercing, and that should have been my first red flag. 2. I saw that Mario was planning to use a curved barbell for my cartilage piercing, and I expressed concern because the cartilage piercing I had gotten half a centimeter above it a few days before (at Identity Piercing, I highly recommend that place!) had a straight post and I wanted them to be the same because I had been planning to put the same jewelry in them (and didn't want two very different pieces of jewelry next to each other for at least six weeks). Plus, I have never seen a curved barbell in a helix piercing before. Instead of listening to my concerns, he flat out told me that he would not use a straight post. I felt like my opinion didn't matter regarding what was going in my own ear. 3. Mario coated the needle in Neosporin before piercing my ear. Neosporin is something that you should NEVER use on a piercing! He even advised me to use it regularly in the healing process. A five-second Google search will show you how bad of an idea this is. 4. Aside from looking totally different than what I wanted, my piercing is crooked. I honestly think Claire's could have done better, and that's a very, very low bar. 5. I didn't see Mario doing any sanitizing before piercing my friend's ear 10 seconds after mine. Really unsafe practices here. Even if he did some sanitizing and I didn't see it, ten seconds is not nearly enough time to ensure that everything is sterile and safe. 6. On top of everything else, my friend had to wait almost four hours for their tattoo. We were initially told it would be less than an hour. I'm sure it wouldn't have been that long if the receptionist hadn't been letting people who got there after us go before my friend. Cheap piercings are not worth a high risk of infection and/or blood-borne pathogens and having zero say in what the metal going into your body will look like. Find somewhere with trained PROFESSIONALS who will listen to what you want and will be careful to keep you safe. read more

I am very unhappy with the quality of Mario's work. I went in to have my lip pierced after letting it close about two years ago. Since then, the shop has moved locations and the woman who did all of my previous piercings at Forever Ink, had moved on to another shop. And for good reason. Last week I stopped by the new location and met with Mario and decided on re-piercing my lip. He was quick, and charismatic. He informed me that he had given the woman who used to work there her apprenticeship, and assumably that meant he was just as good (if not better). This is not the case. Knowing full well how to be a legitimate body piercer, I marked down that I had a mild skin allergy to latex. He had no latex-free gloves on the premises, but assured me it would be fine and that he would not touch any part of my skin with the latex gloves he had on hand. He put jewelry that was too small in my initial wound. This gave no room for swelling, and as a week passed, an indentation formed in my lip due to the pressure caused by continuous swelling that never went down because it was not given the proper space in order to heal. In addition, he screwed both ends of the barbell on so tight, no one could remove them (believe me, I asked everyone). Finally I consulted another piercer, and even she couldn't get the jewelry removed without having to cut it. Even then she struggled to find enough space between my lip and the end of the barbell to cut the jewelry. On top of all of this, as I've finally removed the "barbell of death" and replaced it with reasonably sized jewelry, and the swelling has gone down significantly, I have discovered that the piercing itself is noticeably crooked. The bottom end of the barbell leans to the left side of my bottom lip while the top end rests perfectly centered. Mario at Forever Ink doesn't care about his clients' wellbeing. He cares about that cash in his hand at the end of the day. He made the one place that I knew and trusted an unsafe, unsterile place to go. He ruined my piercing in more ways than one, and for care and cleaning said I should use Neosporin. Which is the complete opposite of what any piercer anywhere else would tell you to do. I do not recommend getting any piercings here. However I do recommend going to Twisted Tattoo in Irving Park. They saved my lip and my life. read more

Terrible! I got a flat piercing and Mario, the piercer, put in the wrong type of earring- a curved barbell. On top of that, he pierced it at the worst angle possible, so that I couldn't even change my jewelry. He screwed the ball on so tight that no one could get it off except for one person, and it was EXTREMELY painful. Additionally, the only thing which was sterilized was the needle. I do not recommend this man at all. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

sure, the gal in front isn't the poster child of customer service. perhaps mario, the piercer/owner of the shop isn't the gentlest of creatures. however, i went in to get my tragus' pierced on one of their deals and it was quick, relatively painless and they are healing quite nicely. i spent more to get my nose pierced elsewhere with a similar level of customer service. give this shop some business. read more

I'll be totally honest, I stumbled on this place cuz I was driving home from the suburbs and I got the urge to get a piercing. The problem was, I wanted a dermal piercing....but not just any dermal a piercing....a dermal on my FINGER. You would think I was asking someone for their 1st born child! I called about 10 tattoo & piercing shops in the area and NOBODY was willing to do it because of the likelihood of rejection and blah blah blah. Luckily, I found this place and they were more than willing to do it. Here's the thing, I'm not just some 16 year old kid that won't take "no" for an answer....I had this piercing done 4 years ago and I'm well aware of the possibility of rejection and whatnot. The only reason I didn't have the original piercing anymore is cuz when I was a bartender, I snagged and caught the piercing in the beer cooler hundreds of times. I finally decided it was time to say goodbye. Now, 4 years later, in my mid twenties, I decided I wanted it back. I'm glad I found this place. He gave me options for how to do the dermal (punch or needle) and made it quick and easy. For those of you who are curious, I have an incredibly high pain tolerance, but even I thought getting this piercing was a little uncomfortable. However, I left the shop with the piercing I had been wanting and it looks super good! You can see in the pics that the piercing is totally centered and laying flat on my skin. I'm happy! read more

As we all know getting a piercing or tattoo can be a little daunting. Walking in my first impression of the shop was that it was very clean and inviting. The gentleman who greeted us (and who also did my piercing) was very polite and knowledgeable. When it came time for me to go back he walked me through each step and made me feel comfortable during the process. So here's a fun story. My boyfriend and I went to forever ink to get a very simple tattoo done. It was a shadow of a silhouette. Nothing detailed or anything. So our tattooer Mario aka "Carnal" was very helpful and very nice. And that's really the only reason I tried my best not to write this. Anyways, a little back ground on my boyfriend? My boyfriend has had multiple tattoos done, by multiple people. He also has a very painful spine problem (scoliosis), that being said, he can handle pain relatively well and has never been in pain when in came to tattoos. Mario mutilated my boyfriends skin to the point where he was in so much pain he was close to tears. But we let it slide, we figured Mario just had a heavy hand. A couple days later, while the tattoo was healing we noticed a big bump of ink cluster. We call and texted Mario about it and he said it was the tattoo "just healing" again we let it slide we figured we'd give it a couple more days. Days later, the tattoo was SO bad it turn purple, blue, pink, and green. THIS WAS AN ALL BLACK TATTOO. I called Mario again and nothing. I called the shop and we had "just missed him." I contacted other tattoo artists that I know for help, and they all came up with the conclusion, after inspecting it, that the arm was over worked.They all said it was over worked. My next step was to confront Mario, not even ask him for money back or anything at first, just wanted to see how we could deal with the situation. I spoke with another artist there because once again...Mario was not there. They assured me that they would make Mario contact me and offered to have him fix it. Never did I get a call from him. Never did I get a message back. Nothing. My word of advise is AVOID this place. There are a million other better places to go to. read more

After reading all the reviews about piercings I was super nervous to go in. When I walked inside the lady at the desk made me feel very comfortable and the nerves started to die down. The piercer guy seemed genuinely nice and took a marker and placed where it will be and put the needle through after that. He told me to put Neosporin on it which was a YIKES but it's been two days now and I've just been spraying it with salt water and doing salt soaks. So far no pain or infection hopefully it stays that way. read more

We called to see if they were accepting walk ins to which they said they were. When we arrived we were not greeted both the lady and the guy looked annoyed with our presence (we're black). The lady took a long time a long time to walk up to us, putting her mask on very slowly. As my friend was showing her the tattoo she wanted, the lady just continues to tap her pen then said oh we're not taking appointments. My other friend said we literally just called you guys said you were, she said i thought you meant piercings. It was just terrible customer service and I do feel they were racist. I got my septum pierced with my friend in august at the old Chicago St. location. The piercer was a girl named Vanessa, and the piercing was ok, although she didnt use a clamp and I do feel like my piercing is slightly crooked. She also cleaned my nose with rubbing alcohol (not cool). Worse than that, they pierced me with externally threaded jewelry which is jUST TERRIBLE for a fresh piercing. I went back in to have it looked at because it wasnt feeling too good and Vanessa said she couldnt see me because she was leaving and to talk to this other guy. the room i talked to him in was kinda dirty and he was just tattooing some other guy in there. He was acting kind of unprofessional and even my mother thought so. I dont really recommend getting a piercing here, the guy even told me to put Neosporin on my piercing, which is crazy if you know anything about piercings, I'm pretty sure he also told me I could use alcohol on it. I just don't recommend this place. I only went here because you get $20 every 6th or 7th piercing but I'm definitely not going back. AND YES I GOT MY INFORMATION FROM OTHER PROFESSIONAL PIERCERS AND CROSS REFERENCED INFORMATION BEFORE LEAVING THIS REVIEW this place was just not good and my bad experience cant be justified read more

If you are looking to get your nipples pierced I do NOT recommend coming here. I got both of mine done by Mario and shortly after I had noticed they were very irritated and still bleeding a week later. The ring he gave me was much too small and gave no room for the piercing to heal. I went back in and he did replace the ring for a larger one. However, 3 months later I am still having problems with them and upon getting a second opinion I've been told my piercing is way too deep and went through the Areola instead of just the nipple. Also he used a curved ring instead of a barbell which is recommended in order for them to heal properly. I wish I would have known this before getting them done and I would not have gone through with it at this location. It cost me $40 for both which in this case you are getting what you pay for. read more

Worst costumer service ever! Never been treated so rude before.... i came in to get my nose piercing back. I called and they told me to come on fast so it wouldn't close. When I get there they said I had to wait 20 mins. I was totally fine with that. I waited for 40 mins and I finally asked the receptionist how longer it would take. She said it would take another 45 minutes. I mean.... I recently went in to get my cartilage pierced because I saw that it was $20 for all piercings. Worst mistake ever! I cleaned it with a sea salt rinse, ignoring the aftercare directions they gave me. The piercer did not use gloves during the procedure and used Neosporin on my newly pierced ear. If anybody who has previous piercings you should know that you never use Neosporin to clean a piercing. After not healing and developing a bump, I decided to go back and ask. I was met by the receptionist who was very rude to me, and told me the same thing to do that I have been doing. I went to a different shop to get my piercing looked at, and not only is there a bump because the earring is not long enough, the piecing is crooked. After getting it looked at by another piercer, it was decided to use a different method of cleaning, an if that didn't work, then the earring needed to be removed and repierced because of poor healing and the previous piercer. Overall, I would not recommend this place to get anything pierced. read more
