MY FAVORITE PIEROGIS IN PITTSBURGH Ever since I had this spot for the first time over three years ago when I lived in Coraopolis I haven't had a desire to go anywhere else for pierogis When I moved out here 2 years ago and found out there was one 10min up the road from me in the Wexford Plaza I nearly shedded a tear. This is actually my first time trying everything else as well The pierogis. Elite. Not pan fried or dropped in a frier. A good pierogis doesn't need that and you can't change my mind. Not thick in the dough or BATHED IN BUTTER. Fucking hate when places drowned them in butter We got, spinach and ricotta, buffalo chicken and potato and cheese. spinach and ricotta will always be my favorite pierogi BUT depending on my mood and of these 3 can be best to me The Halupki was fine. Won't recommend it. Filling was bland as fuck but the cabbage and sauce were great. Just give me that without the filling Haluski. Phenomenal. I've grown up with Haluski always being with bow tie noodles. Cam and I fight about this now an she can't change my mind so NONE of you can. But curious nonetheless to what you're used to The sauerkraut. Been awhile since I've one that kicked my dick in like this. Fermented long so niceee and vinegary AND has some of the tomato sauce in it. Elite THE KIELBASA OUT OF LEFT FIELD WHAT IN THE FUCK. This is undoubtedly the best I've ever had. Even if you don't like pierogis go for this alone. The smoke in each bite was something you get from a true BBQ spot I only have three other spots that interest me that I know will be contenders for my current favorite. Cop Out, Starlite Lounge and Polska Forgotten Taste REMAINS SUPREME. I regret not getting a gnocchi dish. Please get one for me Owners are Eastern European. Polish food is my comfort food, especially good, home made Polish food. They have a variety of flavors for pierogi and also have platters and combinations. Employees are helpful and friendly. you order at a counter and they will call your name or number when it is ready. There are a small amount of tables inside and a condiment station. I don't get Polish food often, so it is nice to have this option. read more

Absolutely everything about this place is amazing but I am so addicted to the pierogies I can't wait to try more of the fillings. The ladies at work there are lovely and friendly, the cabbage roll was amazing it's just so authentic and it brings back memories of my grandmother making pierogies. When in the PA area, pierogies are a must. This spot is an unassuming storefront in a busy plaza with a sign just saying "pierogies" - they have delicious homestyle food in generous portions with homey decor and warm service. Bonus points for the patio out back and wide variety of pierogi filling options, including buffalo chicken (def not traditional), sweet fillings, and seasonal specials (check out the sign by the register). We shared a #1 plate (potato and onion pierogi with onions, stuffed cabbage, and green means) and a $15 (goulash over potato and onion pierogi) - portions were large, everything was very fresh, and flavors were on point. Flavors of pierogies include potato, potato cheese, potato bacon, potato sauerkraut, sauerkraut, lekvar prune, potato cheese jalapeno, cottage cheese, spinach ricotta, spinach feta, roast beef, sausage, cheese pepperoni, buffalo chicken, and some seasonal flavors. Other foods include stuffed cabbage, stuffed pepper, kielbasa, haluski, goulash, borsch, some desserts, etcetera. Many of the foods are available as either hot/ready-to-eat for dine-in or cold/frozen for takeout. For about a decade, I have bought foods from this restaurant. Stopped in yesterday and bought soup/meal for my mom who is very attuned to Russian and Eastern European cuisine. She was thrilled with her meal which consisted of stuffed cabbage, potatoe w/ tomatoe sauce (Americans typically prefer brown gravy which I think is an option), sauerkraut which is out of this world. I also got her a small side of haluski which was enough for four people. They are extremely generous with their serving sizes. The service is great and the chefs are extremely polite and happy to help. The Ambiance is nice although I ordered to go so I didn't get to experience the atmosphere in its entirety. If you're Eastern European or Russian I definitely recommend this restaurant for authentic, delicious comfort food. I don't always get to Wexford but when I do, I always stop in for this food which makes grandmother very happy. read more

This place has excellent pierogies and classic Polish favorites like stuffed cabbage and halushki. I got a combo meal that included 4 pierogies, stuffed cabbage, and green beans. I also tried a small side of the halushki. The pierogies were outstanding, definitely my favorite part of the meal. They are boiled, rather than sautéed, so they are soft outside and fluffy inside. The restaurant is clean and neat with a small, casual seating area. Everyone lines up at the counter to order and there was a line with a few people when I went on a Friday evening around 7:00 PM. I finally found borsch! It is delicious! They have it frozen in quarts to go and I can't say enough about what a treat this new discovery is. Since then, this is the only place I get Pierogies. Very simple set up inside. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. I think their food is worth the price. You have the options to buy the Pierogies frozen or for a couple more bucks, cooked for you. Now if they only offer interstate shipping. It would make my friend a happy person! I believe you could dine in if you wanted to do so, but I'm sure the majority of orders are call ahead. I struggle with this review. My wife and I are both of Polish descent, and we have had Polish food in a number of places. I was expecting to be impressed, but there are areas that could be improved on for a 4 rating or higher. I ordered the combination #13, kielbasa, sauerkraut and pirogies. I really liked the sauerkraut, with it having a tasty and tangy sauce rather than a sour one that was very good, the kielbasa was also of good quality. The pierogies though were just average or below and this is what surprised us as they have many varieties of take out pirogies. The potato pierogies we had were slightly over cooked and lacked flavor. My wife ordered the combo that consists of haluski, pierogies and stuffed cabbage. The haluski was again bland and the stuffed cabbage was fine but nothing exceptional. I would suggest that maybe they offer some of their various types of Pierogies as an option and would provide more tasty options to enhance the plate even at an up-charge which, I would have gladly paid. Food - 3.5-4.5- Just a little bit better than average. The kielbasa and sauerkraut were really good, I would really like the option to have a sandwich with it on it. On the plus side the pierogies that you can take home are awesome! I have had roast beef, buffalo chicken, and got sausage are delicious! Atmosphere - 4 - It's a strip mall type store but some some Polish decorations. Service - 3- No one ever asked us if they we wanted any pirogies to go or offered any options, it's more what would you like, with no offer of assistance. Price - 3 - I think the price would be fine if everything was great, but I was not really satisfied with my meal so just average. I would though get definitely some of those pierogis TO GO especially during COVID as the are a nice quick meal! As a non-PA local, this was my first pierogi experience and I have to say I was very impressed not only by how delicious they are in general, but how yummy this specific place makes them. I don't generally eat meat and their roast beef option & buffalo chicken were AMAZING. The Potato, cheese, & jalapeño was also very good, while the ricotta and spinach was a little bland. All I have to say is WOW! This small business is SPECTACULAR! I had a tiny gathering of fellow "covid vaccinated" family in town (gotta be safe!) and had sous vide steaks ready to go onto a super hot cast iron pan that was sweating in my oven...I just needed a few sides to cut down my culinary workload on a Saturday afternoon. So, I stopped in here and snagged two dozen cheese and potato pierogies along with a dozen of their jalapeño pierogies. When I was in line another customer (obviously a regular) quickly ordered a lunch special involving multiple items, which lead me to wonder two things: (1) why didn't I just skip making steaks and order my fam's entire late-lunch here, and, (2) is it ok if I eat his platter!?!?!? I know, I know, my wife told me it was a hard "NO" on both those questions. Anyway, they have two main pierogie options, take them home frozen, or for a few bucks more per dozen, have them prepare them with butter, onions, whatever you want - of course, I chose the latter. This business is the "royal court" of pierogies, I'd be a mere Jester to think I could cook them better than them; especially when I knew consumption within thirty minutes was inevitable. But, my out of state family already wants them the next time I go visit, so, the frozen option is incredibly convenient. Anyway, no worries, I'm starting to get to my main point here in this review, after typing all of the above, and this super long sentence, I wonder how long I can make this, still working on it, ok, that's good enough - I AM A LOCAL FOODIE FAILURE for just finding this business now!!! I live in the Southwest now, so only frozen pierogies are available in New Mexico. The pierogies were delicious. It was the first time I had beef stuffed pierogies. There were many different kinds to choose from. Service was friendly. My only gripe was as I couldn't order a sampler of pierogies-I had to order a minimum of six of one kind. My first impression was that this place is very clean and had a nice setup. Not overwhelming at all. I do like the pictures of the food on the menu. It helps for people like myself who may not be fully aware of items on the menu. The women working there were very warm and inviting. The food was great and reasonably priced for what you receive.
