Super friendly. Pierogi were good. I don't know that they were the best I've ever had but they were good. They also had unique polish items. So I'd recommend dropping by.

I'm thrilled that we stumbled upon here one day and discovered the joys of really authentic Polish food in the strip district. The person behind the counter looked like a granddaughter of the woman who was running the kitchen in the back. They must have been here for generations. I liked the different style of pierogies such as spinach and feta, which was really mostly spinach and no potato inside. There are a lot of shelfstable products such as candies and canned foods that you can purchase to take home as well. It's not really set up for a dine-in experience, but there's a tiny counter where you can stand or pull up a stool. So if you're looking for a sit down restaurant, this is not the place. If you're in the area, you might as well give it a try.

I had one mission in Pittsburgh- and it was to eat authentic pierogies. Well- S&D is probably the closest spot to downtown Pittsburgh, and boy did it deliver. A simple deli with hot pierogis ready to consume, no fuss. They were all DELICIOUS!!! We got a variety and ate them on the patio tables right outside.

I knew I wanted to try some pierogi's while in Pittsburgh, and found S&D through Yelp. My husband and I stopped in for a snacky meal and got some potato and cheddar pierogis and kielbasa and sauerkraut to share. They have the hot foods available in a case that keeps it warm. They also have a few things in the cold case that you can ask them to heat up. They have a few small seats available where you can eat your food. Overall, the food was good! I kind of wish the pierogi's had a sauce, but I saw upon leaving that you can ask for sour cream by request. Aside from the hot food, they have a selection of Polish groceries that were interesting to peruse.

A lovely small polish deli with Polish snacks and groceries. I usually come here for the pierogis. They are GOOD! Pretty barebone shop and very simple setup. Cashier was friendly.

Glad we made it to this famous Polish deli. The pierogies and polish sausage are so delicious. We didn't eat the pierogies at the shop, since they have have several tables outside of the shop, instead pan fried after got home and tasted even better. We bought the traditional potato and cheese pierogies, vegetarian mushroom pierogies, regular sausage, nuts cookies , various chocolate, baking extract, and other miscellaneous items. Everything was delicious & only wish we bought more . The shop is small, long and narrow, not much space to maneuver around especially when other customers also in the shop. Given its popularity, this shop is always busy, but cashier is very efficient at check out so the line moves fast. S&D located in the strip district, is a high walking score area with lots to see and convenient paid parking lots nearby, we paid $10 flat daily rate. Highly recommend & come hungry @WineDinenVacay

Even though Pittsburgh is known for pirogies, it is hard to find them or hard to find good ones. One place that does sell great pirogies is S&D Polish Deli. This is a market with a they have a place where they have their pirogies and other Polish fare. The Haluski was awesome but the cheese and bacon added great flavor. I will say this...make sure to come early since the pirogies go fast and there are limited flavors and qualities.

I searched for an authentic Polish deli while visiting the area and based on many reviews decided to give S&D a try. This is a deli so you'll need to order online or go in person - there is no seating. This business is located in a cool area and easy to find. We tried the Borsht, potato pancakes, Perogi and Keilbasi. Plus I loved Kolaczki's growing up so I needed to try these. They had the apricot filled and nut I wanted to try the nut filled as they looked delish and I had never tried or made those. One container is $15.00 and about 12 or so cookies. Well worth it! We all loved the food we tried. And just know the Kielbasi is legit - totally different than store package types. This is alone is worth the trip. I will be back to try a few other items and really enjoyed the food. It took me back to special memories with my gramma.

Absolutely the best pierogi I've ever had the pleasure of eating! This is a family business. Nothing fancy. In fact, the young lady taking care of us said "Good luck" when I told her we'd find a table outside the restaurant on the street. And that's just cool like a panther on the prowl! Come early, because they sell out.

Decided to finally visit the Polish Deli during a strip Sunday and sample some "snacks." I'm not sure if it was just because it's Sunday or if it's like this every day, but the hot foods were sitting in a grab & go case. Nothing wrong with that I was just expecting made-to-order. I'm sure it was freshly made that morning. We split the potato and cheese pierogies (comes with 4) and some Haluski. Both were delicious, though very buttery. I could have done without the bacon on the Haluski but it was tasty. I'm sure they have a version that's just cabbage but the prepared food was pretty picked over. They also have a great selection of polish seasonings, sweets, fresh sausages, and many more polish goods.

Took a walk down the strip and searched for something different. Saw S&D and opted for what was left in their hot box. Polish sausage and kraut and a side of potato perogis looked good. Requested a side of mustard for the sausage and sour cream for the perogis. No compliants and worked well for lunch break!

Authentic polish deli right off the strip district. Delicious cheese Pierogies and haluski. Friendly workers, quick to restock the warm Pierogies. Will visit every time I'm down there!

It's a proper neighborhood butcher shop on Butler Street, the kind of place that had mostly disappeared around here. They do whole animal butchery with meat sourced from local Pennsylvania farms, and you can feel how much the folks working there care about what they're doing. It's not a huge space, just a display case full of cuts, a wall of house made goods, and a small sandwich menu, but that's part of the charm. The staff were friendly and happy to point me in the right direction. The sandwiches are what really got me though. The smash burger is fantastic, a double patty on a challah bun with that special sauce, and you can actually taste the quality of the beef, which makes sense given the whole operation is built around good meat. I also grabbed some of their house made pastrami, and it did not disappoint, tender and full of flavor. Knowing everything is made in house, right down to the bacon and sausages, makes it even better. If you live nearby and don't have a butcher yet, this is the one.

Love the decor in the shop. There were many prepared food options in the fridge, as well as various cuts of meat/preparations of it. We got two sandwiches, the cheesesteak and the marbella. I dont think we ended up with the correct order because we didn't end up with a cheesesteak, but did not realize until we got home. I'm positive that if I went back to the shop they would've remedied the situation, but I didn't feel it was necessary! The sandwich we did end up with was good as well, unsure which one it was though. Very fair prices, and our dog was so happy we brought him home a bone as well! Looking forward to coming back and trying everything they have to offer.

Doors were opened for me, minor points discussed and service was fast. I was at an event down the street and stopped here to check it out. I saw an interesting selection of soups available and decided to try the stuffed cabbage soup. I ate it at a bistro table on the sidewalk. I thought the soup was great. It could have used a bit of salt, but the flavor was exceptional even without it. I ordered fries and was cautioned that they do not salt their fries. I was offered salt, pepper and ketchup packets to add myself. The fries were obviously fresh cut and double fried, being a perfect golden brown. The hit of the day was the pastrami. I ordered the standard sandwich, with cheese and deli mustard on good rye bread. I could have had my choices of cheese and condiments, but ordering the standard menu item gives me a better idea of what a place is all about. It is obvious that they take their food seriously. The pastrami was lean with great flavor. My sandwich came with a pickle that added to my enjoyment. The inside and outside were clean and well maintained.
