Our mixologist was named Talon; he was very friendly and knowledgeable. He started by asking us what we usually like to drink (spirits and flavor profiles). Once we gave him the information he needed, Talon proceeded to make us some amazing cocktails. I absolutely loved mine and could have drank them all night. I tried some of my friends' drinks and they were all excellent as well. We ordered several appetizers to share (guacamole, wings, empanadas, and mojo chicharrones), everything was very tasty. Talon came back over to ask us what options we'd like for our second round or drinks, so we all went with something different than the first order. Every cocktail he served us was really good and based on our individual tastes and preferences. I wish I lived in the area because I would go to Odd Birds regularly. The night we were there, they had a secret disco going on in the main dining area which sounded like a fun idea. I loved everything from the drinks, food, and interior decor. The Charlotte 33 Speakeasy area has a very pretty atmosphere as well.

We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

The Bloody Mary is where it lost me. $15 is a serious price for a cocktail, and mine arrived as a tall glass of ice with what was left over poured around it. By the time I was a few sips in, it was mostly meltwater. For that money I'd expect the drink to outlast the ice. Suggestion for the house: given the name, lean into it. Send everyone home with a free bag of ice -- at least then I'd feel like I paid for something I got to keep. Would go back for the food. Would think twice before ordering another cocktail.

My husband & I live in the area and decided to check out at Cellar 6 on a recommendation. After being seated by the hostess at a high top, the floor was pretty busy, but we sat at our table for 10 min. Without being greeted, or without menus. Finally, the server dropped of 1 menu & says that's she'll be right back. Shortly after, the hostess brings by two waters. We sat for another 10 min. before the server came back to take our order. I ordered the bikini martini, and we ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer, and we both got the chicken bev. & a cesar salad. It took 20 min. to get our appetizer, but received no silverware. Then the salad came out about 15 min after we finished our appetizer, still no silverware, no one in sight as we stared at our salad. We finally called attn. to the hostess & asked for 2 sets of silverware. Even though the silverware was warm from the dish room, my fork was fitly. It took another 5 min. to call this to anyone attn. & receive a new set (for the money that you spend, who knows why they expect you to use the same fork for three course meal, am I suppose to just lay dressing covered fork the table after finishing my salad?) Overall the food was so-so, and we chalked up our experience to the fact that they were seemingly busy. Exactly 1 week later we find ourselves in town again visiting family & decided to give Cellar 6 another try. It was 8:45 pm & this time they were not busy at all. We waited about 5 min. to be seated, this time getting 1 menu off the bat. It took 12-15 min. for Heather to come over to our table and greet us. At this point she took our drink orders. I had decided to order the mango lemonade from the bar. We were seated close to the bar, and It was pretty entertaining to watch the bar tender make drinks, including mine. What was almost equally entertaining was watching Heather walk by it about 4 times as it sat on the bar top and I waited & watched from our table. Another 5 min. passed before Heather finally brings my drink. After we ordered an appetizer, two salads, & two entrees, We told her that were would be stepping outside for a few minutes, she said "Oh absolutely, no problem". We came back inside literally 3 min. later, & to our surprise, our table had been cleared & a single woman is sitting at our table looking over a menu. We stood around for a couple of min. confused about what had just happened. With no one around to explain, we decided to sit at the table next to our original. It does seem like the wait staff is more concerned with polishing glasses, and fiddling around with dishes behind the bar as they chat with each other than they are with paying attention to existing customers. So we sat at our new table with nothing as we tried to get Heather's attention. We waived her over as she finished with the table behind us. We had to explain what had happened with our previous table, and that we now needed new waters & silverware sets. It was like she had no idea what was going on. About 15 min. later, she brings out 1 salad (my salad). We asked her what happened to the appetizer. She explained that the kitchen was backed up (even though it was a slow night). We also had to ask about my husbands salad, she explained that his entree (the burger) didn't come with one. We knew this, but had to reminder her that we did order it with the entree. She said that was a quick fix & would be back with it. I didn't want to eat my salad while my husband sat there and watched. After all, we came here to eat together. It took 10 min. before Heather appears with our....appetizer. After we were done with that, we waited another 15 min. for my husbands salad. Half way in, I pull a hair wrapped around mixed greens out of my own mouth. I nearly through up. After losing my appetite & waiting another 25 min. for our entrees, my husband quickly ate his burger, we asked for a box and a check, nothing comped (not that we wanted it, but should have been offered) we paid, and left. One thing to note, they do require a $20 per person for reservations credit card hold, which I haven't experienced at other places before. But honestly, it was worth it. We ended up running late due to traffic coming from Jacksonville, FL, and when we called, they were so kind and accommodating about it. The staff were incredibly attentive and welcoming. Everything we ordered was sooo good. Our favorite drink was the Raising Cane--we each had about 2-3. Definitely a must-try. We loved the variety on the menu. Located on a historic side street off of King St (main drag) and away from much of the tourist congestion. Small inside seating of 12 tables or so with outside sidewalk seating available. Limited dinner menu but enough selection for most diners. Entree salads, soups, flatbreads, several pasta selections, chicken, steaks, shrimp & grits, great burger platter. Limited wine list but extensive martini choices and other craft cocktails and beer. Nice happy hour. Great service and good basic American food. Chief Frederick even came out to check on our meal. Made reservations here for my 50th birthday since we were visiting from out of town. The decor was cool and the place was busy but not too crazy. I'd picked it because I wanted a place with a charcuterie board and their brown butter cake sounded good but somehow they missed us ordering the charcuterie so we never got it and they were out of the brown butter cake Still, all the drinks and food we did get were great and we had a good time. Just moved here from Houston and have been desperately looking for good nightlife! A co-worker invited me to Endless Wednesday at Cellar 6 in downtown, what a great time! This event is the best thing I've found in town since I moved. Excellent cocktails and food in a cozy atmosphere. $20 got me bottomless wine, champs and apps. Always have a great time when going here! With friends for a party or on a date, it never seems to be a bad experience. Wine selection is good, Sangria is great. Would love some more Shiraz options, but can't complain about anything I've tried so far! Romantic lighting and mileu, great service - the chef even came out of the kitchen to see how our meal was - do not see this happen much anymore, even in the fine dining establishments. Had a fantastic time with my family at Cellar 6. Started with a Raising Cane at the bar before dinner and had a delicious Brie appetizer before my main course of Chicken Beverly. The service was exemplary and the prices were quite reasonable. Had a bottle of wine that was recommended by the proprietor and I'm glad we did! Terrible experience. Over priced and bad service. Food was god awful. The owner "Craig" was flirting with my wife when i came out of the restroom. He still had some cocaine on his nose and was upset and yelled at me when i asked who he was. This guy had no idea how to run a restaurant or talk to customers. Back Again! One of my fav spots in STA. Went friday night, place had a great vibe. I ate the surf and turf with their butternut squash.Steak was amazing as well as the huge scallops. I'm not sure if they landed on the orange garnish that got put in our drinks or what, but it was not ideal. We swapped for another beverage and didn't have an issue. The other issue was the food itself. Thankfully everything came out really hot and pretty fast, but it was just super mediocre. The shepherd's pie was a bit lackluster and my husband said it was not seasoned/kind of tasteless. I'm sure it's just because of the busyness, but still disappointing. The party outside seemed super fun and everyone who was just drinking and standing for the music were happy. I would give it another chance, but absolutely not on a holiday adventure.

Our friend who lives in St. Augustine wanted to go there for her birthday dinner, so three of us drove down from Jacksonville in two different cars. From the beginning it was a hassle. A hassle to get a table six day ahead of the requested date so we had to go with a 5:45 spot, I called to preorder a vegetable dish as I am a vegetarian and they said the reservation that was so hard to get would have to be cancelled and the entire table would need to do preordered entrees so I passed on that and then I called to ask about the corkage fee to bring my own wine and that was a no. Despite Florida allowing that, I do understand that is at the individual restaurants' discretion, but it is short sighted as that is pure profit for the restaurant. I dine at only high end restaurants locally and when traveling and they all allow byob wine with a corkage fee. We waited for the lady who drove us over to the restaurant to park and once inside (after checking in while she parked and they said we all had to be there), we stood around for another 10 minutes and then asked about our table and the two ladies at the hostess stand did not even seem to know who we were. I did speak to the manager in that time regarding the wine policy and she was not very friendly as neither were the other two people I spoke to on the days prior. When we were seated we were basically told they do things "their way" not that wording but interpretation. You must order everything at once- appetizers, sides, entrees, etc. The exact wording was "it is easier for the kitchen". I am sorry, but who is paying the check here? We did have several special requests regarding no onions for me and a few questions from those of us who had not been there. I knew from the minute we ordered which took us a little time to decide, that there was no way things were going to come out as requested and I was spot on though I did not realize how bad it could get/be. The charcuterie board was a joke. They did seperate the meat from the cheese as asked but it was pathetic and they had the nerve to serve stale Pepperidge Farm assorted crackers with that. A few pieces of other things but primarily PF crackers. Who does that? We ordered two salads to split between the four of us and asked that be the second course along with some bread. Some of the ladies ordered the beef tip appetizer as their entree to follow the charcuterie board and salads. I ordered the vegetable plate and the other lady ordered a filet special. Charcuterie came out and again pathetic, bread came out and beef tips. Not at all what was requested. We watched people get their meals that were seated after us and one and a half hours later we still had no salads. We finally asked another server to help us out and got our salads. Two hours later, we still did not have the vegetable plate or the filet. Needless to say, we were over it and found the manager to cash out and leave. They did comp the food we didn't receive and the apps but not the beef tips, bread, or drinks so we still spent $180 plus tip. In my opinion, they should have comped it all as it was such a terrible experience. We left to meet friends at Pesca Rooftop and they generously offered us some of the pizzas they had ordered as they heard about our horrible experience. We should have just gone there from the start. This was a one and done for those of us from Jacksonville. From service to management to food it was a huge disappointment. I sure hope they have a better team with better attitudes and such when they open in Jacksonville as we have lots of great restaurants here and that will not work here.
