My wife and I both found the appetizer and entrees to be creative and delicious: The tomatoes in the caprese appetizer seemed to be fresh-picked at peak ripeness from a nearby garden, the scallops were some of the best I have had and the cheesecake was generous and creamy. But the surprise that really made our visit special was the advice and interaction of the sommelier, Cisco! As a wine educator, I rarely encounter restaurant wine stewards who have extensive knowledge AND spend the time with the table to ensure the right pairings are chosen. Cisco nailed it! Finally, the service was perfect - our waitress was professional, very friendly and was always there when needed yet was never obtrusive. We came right at open on a Saturday with a reservation. They have several dining areas from what it seems. We were seated near the bar area and it was pretty dark and moody. We got the calamari and fried mozarella caprese from the happy hour menu. I didn't get to try the fried moz caprese, but the calamari was good. It was just slightly overcooked but otherwise had good flavor and the aioli was a good pairing. My fettuccine was a little bland but the shrimp was heavily seasoned and added to the dish. We made a reservation and were seated on time. We waited quite awhile without anyone even taking our drink order or bringing water. After about 10 minutes a waiter did come bring us water and take our drink order. He was not assigned to the section and a manager publicly confronted him about this and he stated he was simply trying to help out. The manager never did apologize or speak to us. Our waiter finally arrived and made up some excuses about talking to a table. Our drinks were good and we order entrees. These took nearly 40 minutes to arrive. My steak au poivre was made with a strip steak instead of a filet but still cost $58. The sauce was curdled and had almost no peppercorns. The steak itself was cooked okay with parts medium rare and parts rare. That's a high cost for a cheaper cut and a sauce that was not prepared properly. My wife had Rose Water pasta. Wine should be used to thin and add flavor to the sauce, but the sauce was extremely runny and did notat all stick to the pasta. Overall the service is disorganized and the kitchen tries but is obviously not up to preparing the menu items. I recommend going to Katz or Republic of Texas for the same price point. read more

There aren't many fine dining places in corpus so I'm honestly shocked I haven't heard of this place sooner. Myself and some girlfriends visited on a Wednesday night and the atmosphere was giving cozy romantic vibes. I had the crab cakes and gnocchi which were both phenomenal. I'm not much of a wine drinker so I stuck with a spicy margarita which was delicious but they have an extensive wine list and signature cocktail menu. Our server was also lovely and gave suggestions on what to eat. The only downfall of the night was that my friend ordered tiramisu and hated it, I tried it and it did have a strong coffee taste but I didn't mind it so maybe stay away from this desert if you're picky. The food had no taste. Small portions. My party did not like their dish. Airline chicken was drowning in lemon sauce. That was all I tasted. Chicken had no taste I had to run it in the lemon to give it some kind of taste. My friend had the burger she was trying to give it away to whoever wanted it. I tried some. It was not good. I didn't even finish the piece she gave me. The salad was ok. The dessert was probably the only thing I really liked. Very dark I could not see what was in my food. Noisy we couldn't hear each talk. Server never came to give us more water. Server was not attentive at all. Had to ask several times. For a bigger party why not give 2 water containers. Sub-average food at best, with a couple wine pairings (wild when you market yourself as a wine bar). Food is overpriced for the quality, and the service was not good. Our waiter, while perfectly nice, was in way over his head. He couldn't keep track of his tables, was unable to remember small things, and after spilling some wine, didn't clean up himself. When we asked for seltzer, he brought us a full bottle and charged us $9 for it. Food was not great, a lot of fried appetizers which is par for the course in Corpus Christi. The garden salad looked like it came out of a bag. The scallops were bland, the duck had a ridiculously tiny portion, and the Mussels were far too salty. I would say, the only thing that was reasonably good was the burger. Honestly, as I write this, I want to drop the review down even further to 2 stars. I would give this place a pass, or give it at least another six months to figure itself out. If it lasts that long. read more

We went to Fork and Vine with the impression it was fine dining. We arrived and were seated by the bartender. She said our server would be Veronica and gave us menus. We waited, waited some more ! Finally went to the bar and ordered a couple of drinks . Go back to the table and waited again for Veronica to show up. No Veronica, we go to the bar and ask if we can sit. The bartender took care of us from there with our meal and drinks. I believe her name was Tiffany, she made our evening much better. As for overall quality what we had was just OK. Most likely this is a one and done for us. They need to up their quality and service a bit to be considered a fine dining experience. The includes serving hot food along with proper timing. First off, I'm not one to leave reviews.. I'll start out with saying this hole in the wall is surprisingly nice when you walk in. I was honestly confused when we arrived by the looks on the outside. Appetizers.. almost took an hour to come.. they were average. Nothing special but not bad. Here we go.. the entree.. my wife got the burger.. honestly she is a burger fanatic.. (there's not a burger she doesn't smash) This one however tasted like it had been soaking in dirty water. Literally was soggy on the inside. No flavor whatsoever. Fries were also soggy and tasteless. I got the wild mushroom chicken fettuccine. Bland but much more edible than the burger. All in all I give it a 2 Star. For $160 we expected a lot more. read more

Stopped at Fork & Vines for dinner. It's hard to spot, but is next to sugar bakers. Great spot for a date - good atmosphere. If you want a table, make a reservation. We sat at the bar and didn't have to wait. They have a reasonable number of wines on tap, as well as a larger selection of bottles. I had the beef tenderloin and she had the gnocci and we shared a wilted spinach salad. We were both very pleased with the quality of food. The tenderloin was very very tender and cooked perfectly. The gnocci and salad were a bit on the salty side for us, but it was only a bit more than we would prefer. My mom would have added more salt. Overall, it was a great experience. Usually little, higher end, locally owned places like this don't last long. I hope they can buck that trend. read more

I enjoy visiting Corpus on a monthly basis to chill and escape the Austin traffic. So of course I'm always perusing Yelp for new and good places to eat. Well this month I hit the Jackpot ! This is the type of restaurant that everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood !! When I walked into the nondescript building I wasn't expecting the cool & comfortable vibe,but it was a pleasant surprise. The friendly professional staff was also a big plus. But what really made my evening was one of the Best Charcuterie Boards EVER ! I would gladly drive from Austin just for that alone ! First time here and we had a wonderful time. Waiting patiently at the door for the greet person to check on our reservation, the person behind the bar jumped in and got us situated. We saw several friends there and went to our seats. Drinks were great, the fool was wonderful and our wait staff was on point. We were able to have an enjoyable birthday dinner for my wife and me and topped it off with dessert. Would definitely come back for dinner or just happy hour and appetizers. We were in Corpus and ate at this restaurant twice. Everything about this restaurant was an A+++++++. Food was delicious. I ordered the salmon with grilled asparagus and a Caesar salad both nights.
