We had spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer and we think it is the best we've ever had. It came with warm parmesan pita chips which were yummy on their own. We had the steak sandwich and that was pretty good. It was a little pricey for lunch but we will return. A lot of things on the menu sound interesting so we will return to give them a try. read more

We moved to Hawaii so have not been there since before the fire. I took my Sister and Parents there while home on a visit. Everyones meal was fabulous. I ordered the build your own Mac & Cheese. I always gave my daughter a hard time when she ordered Mac & Cheese in a restaurant but when I saw the options I could not resist making a Jambalaya version with Andoulle sausage, Chicken and Jalapeno peppers. My family of 8 visited Fork in the Road last night (Saturday ) for a birthday celebration. We phoned for a reservation and arrived on time. We were immediately seated and service began right away with no delay. Everything was great...drinks were good, service great, food was delicious.. (except the Steak Sandwich, which was grisly)...we ordered dessert and after dinner drinks, and we're waiting for the arrival, when the OWNER came to our table and told us that "we are very busy tonight, I probably shouldn't of squeezed your reservation in (who says that!), so please be conscious of your time spent here" !!! OMG...we were so offended...here we were waiting on their service of food and drinks, and hadn't even received the bill yet! My daughter, who was also offended went to talk to her and ask what we did wrong...she responded "nothing" I went to all the big tables and made them aware of time" Seriously, so she offended even more people. I suggest that you wait until the bill has been set on the table before telling people they are taking up too much time in your restaurant! Mind you, our bill was $268....so I think we were a pretty good customer to have last night. We didn't have a problem with the 1 hour 40 minute time frame of getting our food at this point...they were setting the pace, not us. So, though we love the close proximity of the restaurant and quality of food, this episode will definitely take some time to recover from, if ever. read more

It takes a lot for me to complain about a meal but yesterday's dinner at this restaurant was so lackluster it literally left a bad taste in my mouth. Fish fries in Wisconsin are a tradition that some restaurants do well and others just go through the motions. Do not EVER order the perch fish fry here. My wife and I made the mistake of ordering the same thing and were sorely disappointed. The first sign of something wrong were the fish fillets which were flat as a board indicating excessive processing, the fillets were all breading with about 1/16 of an inch of actual fish, at McDonald's they would call these McFishChips. And how can anyone get french fries wrong? Well these were straight out of a bag and over-fried to stick like hardness. The slice of rye bread was dry and only the coleslaw was half-way decent. On the plus side the waitress at our table of 5 was prompt and courteous which accounts for the one star otherwise it would be no stars. While the rest of the menu may be more appetizing what we were served was not. read more

After a morning of slush skiing at Alpine Valley, we were in search of a good lunch spot and used Yelp to direct us to Mukwonago, WI and Fork in The Road restaurant. We had a fabulous lunch! The owner stopped by to give our kids Etch-a-Sketch to play with while we waited for our food. The service was friendly, helpful and quick. My husband had the french onion soup straight out of Julia Child French Cooking and I had a delicious and fresh Italian Wedding soup bursting with flavor. Our kids had homemade chicken nuggets and a well cooked grilled cheese. My husband had the ham and Gruyere sandwich on the specials menu with the homemade chips. The sandwich was gooey, rich and delicious and the crispy chips came with a flavorful homemade french onion dip. I had the Roasted One sandwich with Dijon marinated chopped chicken, spinach, roasted red peppers and fresh mozzarella - super yummy! The menu also featured a great select of beers, cocktails and adult shakes. All in all, a great surprise in a small off the beaten path town in Wisconsin! read more

Only giving a one star because I cannot give zero. A couple girls and I decided to have dinner and drinks on Friday. Very crowded which was expected. We arrived at 6:15 pm, were able to get a drink after 15 min and sat on the chilly patio to wait for a table. We waited about 40 min. Food was average. I got the fried fish. After we were done eating we paid the bills. I was still finishing my drink and chatting when a man approached our table and asked if we could move to the patio so a larger group could sit. So mad! There were two other tables available, we had already waited 40 min on the chilly patio for our table, and I still had my drink! We reluctantly moved. I did ask for the manager who ended up being the very man that asked us to move. I said I thought it was poor customer service, he should have made room at the bar or offered us a drink. He just shrugged his shoulders and said okay. I want everyone to know what poor customer service the Fork in The Road has! Especially management. read more

OMG! My husband,oldest son and I were on our way back from the "Mama Tried" motorcycle show in Milwaukee and my husband wanted to drive back to Gurnee in the country.As we were driving through Mukwonago,I saw this restrauant called "Fork In The Road" which was a very unique name,so I looked it up on Yelp,saw the ratings and the menu and we turned back around and decided to try it. Wow,we walked into the place and sat at the nice bar while we waited for our table,(20 mins.) What a cozy bar it was.The bartender was so friendly and attentive.We had the cheese curds for an appetizer(to die for!!!!) my husband had a wonderful speciality beer(brewed in burbon barrels) and I had a Shirley Temple and my son had a Caramel corn milkshake. When we got to our table, we were greeted by a very friendly enthusiastic waitress who was very knowledgable about the menu.She recommended the cedar plank salmon with a apricot serrano chile glaze for my husband,macaroni and cheese with pulled ham and andouille sausage for my son, and I had the Saturday Special which was prime rib. My husband and son had the shrimp bisque soup and I had the mixed green salad with lemon mayo dressing,grapes and covered with sugar coated walnuts.So amazingly good. What a gem of a place!!!!! The food,atmosphere,staff,bar was over the top. I am so glad we found this place and stopped. We will be back and I highly recommend anyone driving by to stop and let your taste buds do a happy dance. read more
